Martin Scorsese is one of the latest Hollywood filmmakers to honor Rob Reiner.

In a new essay published in The New York Times, the Taxi Driver director began his piece by writing: “Rob Reiner was my friend, and so was Michele. From now on, I’ll have to use the past tense, and that fills me with such profound sadness. But there’s no other choice.”

Rob and his wife Michele Reiner were found dead in their home on December 14. Their son, Nick Reiner, has since been arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

Heartbreaking details have emerged about the deaths of Rob and Michele Reiner.

Their death certificates have been made public, which confirmed some of what has already been reported.

They officially died from “multiple sharp force injuries” on Sunday (December 14) at their home in the Los Angeles area. The cause was with a knife, and at the hands of another person.

A new detail we learned is that the couple, heartbreakingly, died within “minutes” of being injured.

In addition, they have been cremated already, and their final resting place is their son Jake‘s home. You can see all of the details over at TMZ.

Their 32-year-old son Nick was charged with their murders, and has not entered a plea yet.

A source recently revealed if Nick ever seemed violent.

Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner‘s children Jake and Romy have shared a statement in light of their parents’ deaths.

The statement was shared with People on Monday (December 22) and begins, “Jake and Romy Reiner remain grateful for the outpouring of love and support they have received.” It goes on to say that they will be sharing information regarding a memorial service soon.

TMZ is making a big claim about a Nick Reiner diagnosis.

The site is alleging that the 32-year-old son of beloved couple Rob and Michele Reiner was diagnosed with schizophrenia. Leading up to the deaths of his parents, the site is claiming that medications were making him “erratic and dangerous.” At the time of this posting, his diagnosis has not been confirmed by him.

The site reports he was “under the care of a psychiatrist for mental illness.” Apparently, last month, his “behavior” had become “alarming.”
