The Twilight film franchise will forever be iconic, and despite how many times you may have watched over-and-over, there may be some fun facts you don’t know about the movies!

If you don’t know, the movies were inspired by Stephenie Meyer‘s novels about glittering vampires and werewolves. The franchise catapulted Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner to international fame.

We’re still talking about the movies in 2025, and there’s so much that we’re still learning about them.

Some interesting tidbits were a key role was almost recast after the first movie and Robert was warned that he would be arrested if he did one thing wrong when he was first cast. There are also some secret details about that steamy sex scene.

Can you believe it’s been nearly 17 years since the first Twilight movie premiered?!

The debut film adaptation hit theaters November 2008, and catapulted the franchise, based on the Stephenie Meyer book series, into an even bigger phenomenon.

Twilight made several younger actors household names, like leading stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, as well as several others, and over the years, some of the stars have gotten married, and there are several cast members who have become parents for the first time, or even expanded their families.

While attending a fan expo in Chicago earlier this month, the 40-year-old actor explained why he turned down the opportunity to audition for the lead role in the hit franchise, which ultimately went to Robert Pattinson.

Jennifer Lawrence is rocking some Twilight merch!

The 34-year-old Oscar-winning actress, and mom of 2, sported a black hat with “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1″ written across it in red thread while running a few errands on Friday afternoon (May 2) in New York City.

Jennifer paired the hat with a black jacket over a graphic T-shirt and a cream-colored maxi skirt.

The hat appears to be a fun nod to Jennifer‘s Die, My Love co-star Robert Pattinson who, obviously, starred in the Twilight movies alongside Kristen Stewart.

Did you know that Jennifer actually auditioned for a role in Twilight? In an interview from 2023, Jennifer recalled being “turned down immediately” after her audition.

Kristen Stewart‘s career was already underway when she was cast as Bella in the Twilight franchise. However, the movie took her star power to an entirely new level.

Before she landed the massive role though, Kristen had to beat out some very talented actresses.

Considering the popularity of the Twilight books, everyone wanted a chance to appear in the movies. Of course, the role (one of the biggest in Hollywood in recent memory) ultimately went to Kristen, but she faced stiff competition.

Now, she’s gearing up to return to the world of vampire dramas alongside Oscar Isaac in a thriller called Flesh of the Gods.

She’s so closely related to the part. However, like any other role in Hollywood, there was stiff competition with multiple stars in the running to play Bella.

Twilight was already a successful book series by the time that the first movie was being made. That means that Bella was a massively popular role that many people wanted to land.

In fact, four Hollywood A-listers have spoken out and revealed that they also were in the running for the part. One of those actresses was even famously author Stephenie Meyer‘s first choice. Another explained that they were ultimately “glad” that they weren’t cast.

Taylor Lautner is heading back to his Twilight roots for a very self-referential new series.

The 33-year-old actor, who famously played the werewolf Jacob Black alongside Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in the fantasy series, will star in and executive produce a new show called Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter for Amazon MGM Studios.

Details about the show and his role have been revealed.
