Portal: Cooperative is a multiplayer Portal mod aiming to provide a Portal 2-like cooperative experience. The mod comes with a 2 player map set, a 2 player Rexaura map set, an unfinished 3 player map set, and a playground map.

New maps!
The main focus of this update is the new & overhauled maps that come with the new 2 player map set. When the mod originally released, there were only 5 test chambers. Later on, 3 more test chambers were added in the Beta 3.0.0 update. This update bring adds 6 new chambers overall (8 new chambers, 2 removed chambers).
These new test chambers are better paced and overall designed better. Some of the escape maps have been modified too.


Other notable changes
This update removes the player model selector and the portal color chooser. I know that this will be a controversial change, but I believe that it's good for what this mod is going for. The player model selector was originally added because I missed the feature from Half-Life 2: Deathmatch. For context, the player model selector in Half-Life 2: Deathmatch was nonfunctional in 2013-2024 and I remember when it still worked. I didn't add it because I thought it was good for the mod, only because I personally missed the feature.
As to why I actually removed it, I want the mod to provide a more cohesive & consistent experience. Chell & Mel were always meant to be the "canon" characters and being able to have 2 Chells or 2 Mels didn't make sense. It also didn't make sense that any player could suddenly transform into a different person at will.

- Added client sided trigger detection.
- Fixed portal projectile not emitting properly for the client.
- Fixed the client avoiding players that are behind a portal.
- Fixed the game resource manager not updating while the game is paused. This fixes other problems such as the player list not accurately listing the players in the server.
- Fixed a case where pinging a model based entity would create a crosshair instead of glowing it.
- Fixed track train audio playing too much, causing other audio in the game to not play.
- Fixed a crash caused by players disconnecting in maps with rocket turrets.
- Fixed new fire particles not loading.
- Fixed rocket turrets only targeting players through portals if they were first seen without portals.
- Fixed rocket turret bones not updating.
- Change default portal render depth option from 3 to 2.
- Removed "Show target player Portal ID" option.
- Removed "Show portal information" option and replaced it with "Show portal owner name".
- Removed the player model selector.
- Removed male_portal_player.
- Removed player model specific expressions.
- Removed customized portal color sets.
- Removed spray options in the multiplayer options menu.
- Temporarily disabled radio functionality & signals.
- >4 Players in servers with increased maxplayers will have their color set circulate. Normally, player 1 uses light blue & purple, 2 uses yellow & red, 3 uses green & pink, 4 uses blue & orange. This change makes it so that the 5th player will use blue/purple, 6th player uses yellow/red, etc...
- Player models are now based on the player's color set.
- Lowered the volume of the fizzler sounds.
- Lowered the volume of energy balls back to how they are in Portal.
- Updated the background menu.
Map changes:
- Overhauled the 2 player map set and added new maps.
- Exit elevators in the regular 2 player map set now only open when both players are nearby.

i cant open the options to change the resulition to native it crashes my game
Where's the linux client (the .so) files?
I haven't compiled a build for Linux.

I followed all the steps in the readme.txt but the mod doesn't appear in my steam library.

I'm having a really hard time installing it... I put the "portalcoop" folder into "sourcemods" but I don't really know what to do next

If you join the steam group, we may be able to help you out there. But from the looks of it all you need to do now is restart steam.
All I get when trying to play is "Could not load library client." I tried fixing the gameinfo.txt and that does nothing. Is there any way I can fix this?
