Feedback / Critique - Invader Zim Sketch

Hello there!


I've started working on this around 6 months ago, though I never finished it cause I was unhappy with how I was unable to make some elements look the way I wanted to. That element specifically is the Irken flag that Zim is ramming into Dib's eyesocket. I re-sketched it multiple times already, but I never seem to be able to make it look right. I think my main issues with it are its perspective in comparison to Zim and Dib + I dislike how the fabric of the flag itself looks very stiff despite the whole flagpole being in a swift downward motion.


Anyone who wants to help me with this you're free to draw over it and add correction lines if you like. Doesn't just have to be the flag if you notice other elements inside this sketch that could need adjustment in your opinion. Any other tips and suggestions are also welcome!

It feels to me that the elements in your image are pulling in different directions.


Here I am trying to get everything going in one direction.

You make a good point, I didn't even think of that before! I thought the perspective was the main issue, but the flag is just kinda weirdly out of place in my image. Your sketch definitely combines Zim and the flag as "one" in a better way. Thank you so much for helping!

This looks really good so far! Only critique I can think of is to push the perspective on Zim a bit, don't be afraid to change size and blur :)

While I do agree that the perspective could be pushed to something more dynamic, the biggest draw for me is the fact that you have a real awesome energy that could really be utilized in a way that could make this kick ass to an insane degree.


If you plan on doing a Ver. 2 of this Sketch bring that energy in and consider pushing Zim's expression, I think you could really pull off something that could very well move toward a final piece in that respect.
