YFYIAR is the drunken uncle of text-based adventures: Abusive, abrasive, and maybe a little funny.

Yeah man that was great. I thought it would double down on depressing me but it's not that bad. And when he talks about "breakup" it was holy projection, because I was never in a relationship to begin with. I like the vision. It was short. I don't know if there are multiple endings though.

if i have no mouth and i must scream was a text based adventure game

It's like if you made The Talos Principle but your budget was ten dollars and a cup of coffee. This isn't a bad thing.

I enjoy text based games a lot, and this was no exception. I do think adding more variety to the responses or adding a reaction to a repeated command would be fun and add to the story!

I played this game quite some time ago, and gave it a relatively unfair review in retrospect. So recently, I went and decided to try the game again; With a much less biased and harsh mindset, and much more level head.

As suspected, my opinion on the game hadn't really changed since the last time I played it. I found the game's dialogue to be obnoxious, almost as if a 7th-grader who just learned how to curse wrote it, and the whole narrative to be incredibly pretentious and a very poor attempt at being "psychological".

I find the concept of an 'existential' text-based adventure game to be quite interesting, but YFYIAR's idea of 'existentialism' is incredibly childish and repetitive. The game's attempt at insulting the player, in an attempt to make them feel scared, helpless, and alone didn't click with me or work at all; If anything, I found it just got more and more tiring to read as the game goes on. I didn't feel the 'abusiveness' or the 'abrasiveness' to be very effective at all, and it started to feel more and more like a teen's angry Blockland Forums drama post. It had some vaguely funny dialogue every once in a while, but I still found it got ruined by the amount of weepy ragebait that the game keeps throwing at you per minute.

Overall, the game didn't do a great job at what it set out to do; but I found that what it set out to do was very interesting and with some touch-ups I find that this could've been a pretty interesting horror experience.

...Meh.
