Wondering how to Fast Travel in Crimson Desert? The continent of Pywel is a colossus of tricky terrain and dangerous obstacles, and while a fast horse will work wonders when travelling in Crimson Desert, the real way to speed from location to location is by using Fast Travel.

In Crimson Desert, you can Fast Travel to specific predetermined points, marked by special structures. But first you need to discover those structures. And then, you need to figure out how to actually Fast Travel there, because the UI in Crimson Desert is far from clear. Read on to learn exactly how to Fast Travel, plus a bonus tip for players struggling to unlock more Fast Travel points.

How to Fast Travel in Crimson Desert

To Fast Travel in Crimson Desert, you must find special Abyss Nexus locations across the map. An Abyss Nexus is a flat stone brick structure that is built into the ground, with a circular button at its centre. To activate an Abyss Nexus and enable Fast Travel there, simply stand on the central button until it sinks into the ground.

You can find these Abyss Nexus Fast Travel points in areas covered by a question mark on the map. Hovering over the question mark will reveal that it is an area of "Mysterious Energy", which means there's a Fast Travel point somewhere in the vicinity. Once you've activated the Abyss Nexus, the question mark will disappear, and a blue icon can be found at the precise location of the Nexus.

To Fast Travel to an Abyss Nexus, simply open your map, hover over the selected Fast Travel point, and tap Y on controller, or double-click LMB on mouse and keyboard.

This will open a Fast Travel confirmation screen, where you can then select "Confirm" to immediately Fast Travel to your chosen point.

How to unlock Abyss Cressets to Fast Travel

Abyss Nexuses are the main Fast Travel points in Crimson Desert, but you can also teleport to similar structures called Abyss Cressets. The main difference between them is in how you activate them:

  • An Abyss Nexus is activated after discovering it and stepping on its central plate.
  • An Abyss Cresset is activated only after solving the unique puzzle in its vicinity.

Undiscovered Abyss Cressets are also marked with a "Mysterious Energy" question mark on the map until you solve its puzzle. Usually the puzzle itself is fairly easy to find, but less simple to solve. You may also need certain abilities only unlocked early in the main story, such as Nature's Grasp to move objects, or Force Palm to press buttons.

So, if you find an Abyss Cresset puzzle site but it seems impossible to solve, there's a high chance you don't yet have the abilities you need and should return later on.

"Why can't I Fast Travel?"

You cannot Fast Travel while fighting, swimming, climbing, or riding a horse. There are also specific sections of certain quests where you will be unable to Fast Travel. In any of these situations, you won't even see the "Fast Travel" option at the bottom of your screen while hovering over a Fast Travel point.

Tip: Use the Abyss itself to Fast Travel!

When you first start playing Crimson Desert, you won't have many Fast Travel points unlocked. But as long as you've completed Chapter 1 of the main story, you'll be able to use the Abyss Nexuses inside the Abyss itself.

The Abyss is the floating sky-realm far above Pywel which Kliff visits at various points during the story. To view the Abyss, open your map and then click Right Thumbstick or Middle Mouse Button. You can then see the map of the Abyss, including all the Abyss Nexuses you've unlocked there.

You can then Fast Travel to any of these points within the Abyss, and jump off the edge, using your Flight to travel great distances while you fall towards Pywel below. Using this handy trick, you can easily travel across the starting region of Hernand in seconds rather than minutes. It's a useful trick to remember as you progress and unlock more Fast Travel points across both Pywel and the Abyss.
