Hey...I can make THAT!

March Tutorials

Welcome to "Hey...I can make THAT!"  A monthly post to help you truly counterfeit many of the components of the current month's kit.  No need to go out and purchase...just use the supplies you already have to create some of the freshest and trendiest products out there.  Here you will find links to our amazing design team members' blogs and/or links to other craft sites on the web showing how to make these amazing products.
This month we have a multitude of choices from the February Cocoa Daisy Kit as seen here.  Are you a traditional scrapbooker?  Do you like to art journal?  Project Life more your thing?  There's a kit for everyone!  And lots of kits mean lots of forgeries going on over at CKC Design Team Central.  Let's see what our lovely Master Forgers have up their sleeve this month.

Angela's been rooting around for objects to make marks similar to the Crafter's Workshop Stencil included as an addon for the Cocoa Daisy kits. See what she found on her blog here.

Or how about making your very own dotty stencils using acetate and a hole punch?

Are you running out of Mod-Podge? Angela's art mentor, Cilenia Curtis, shared some tips with her on how to make her own.

Meanwhile, Jemma's been stitching again to create those Studio Calico Stitched Journalling Cards:

How did Angela transfer that magazine cut-out onto her watercolour background to get this arty look?

Milissa has a trio of quick, easy tutorials for you here and here.

Kudos to our guest designer, Elaine for jumping right in to show us how to make a copycat version of the yellow and raspberry brick inspired paper in the kit.  Check it out on her blog here:

Lesley has some printables for you over on her blog,
she doesn't do stitching!

Leslie tackled a few of the papers

Now, all of these tutorials should keep you busy to complete your kit.  Remember to keep us in mind for your future forging needs.  I've added labels to the post so that you can reference and search for tutorials in the future.  Think of us as your one-stop resource for inspiration AND tutorials!

Hey...I Can Make THAT!

February Tutorials

Welcome to "Hey...I can make THAT!"  A monthly post to help you truly counterfeit many of the components of the current month's kit.  No need to go out and purchase...just use the supplies you already have to create some of the freshest and trendiest products out there.  Here you will find links to our amazing design team members' blogs and/or links to other craft sites on the web showing how to make these amazing products.

Get ready to see stars AND hearts in this round of tutorials pulled from our February Counterfeit offering.  Find out all about the inspiration kit here.

Now...let's get on with forging!

LesleyG has forged the MME Cupid's Arrow Love 3""x4" Cardstock Journal Element Cards
as well as the "Alpha Love" 12x12

Jemma counterfeited Crate Paper's Sparked patterned paper, but substituted stars for hearts:
Jimjams - counterfeiting Crate Paper Sparked paper
  • Punch shapes from scraps, matching the colours in the rest of your kit
  • Punch shapes from an old book page
  • Stick them in curved rows onto a plain paper background with the minimum of glue
  • Using a small zig-zag stitch machine-sew them down!
Leslie has also changed up the hearts for a "Starstruck" kit. A handful of counterfeit papers plus some neat embellis were forged from the papers in the inspiration kits.

Lynnette dug out our her watercolor crayons and her daughter's Crayola paint box to create this easy counterfeit heart paper.  Check out her blog here to see the easy peasy process and how she used it on a page.

Well, there you have it, folks!  Now that you are seeing hearts and stars, try your hand at some of these fabulous tutorials.  We'd love to see YOUR creations over on Mr. Linky!

Tutorials: Louve Kit

Mask Vintage Doily - Christy Tomlinson (Pink Paislee)

Top 10 SMASH Pad (EK Success)

Vintage Kraft Flag Pins - 2 of each design (Maya Road)
Miss Caroline "Day" Butterflies (My Mind's Eye)
The Louve Kit has the following items that can be counterfeited:

The Vintage Doily Mask... if you are lucky enough, you can find a REAL plastic vintage doily in a thrift store, yard sale, or flea market for just pennies.  Once I started "keeping an eye out for them" I began seeing them more and more often at my local thrift stores.  I have bought a few in various patterns and sizes.

Top 10 Smash Pad Journaling Spots can be recreated by visiting the following sites and downloading these free files or these free files! And Finally, the Splendidly Imperfect Miss M, who designs all sorts of awesome free printables, has these to share.  ***If you would like to download her images, she asks that you please either follow her blog, or "like" her Facebook page.  If you decide to "Pin" any of her images, please Pin them directly from her blog, not from the 3rd party download site.  Thank you!

The Vintage Kraft Flag Pins can be recreated by following our Master Forger, Lisa's, tutorial on her blog, found here.

The Butterfly Paper can be counterfeited by simply taking your favorite punch (a butterfly in this case), a few scraps of paper, and a piece of white cardstock.  Punch butterflies from the various scraps, place them on the white cardstock (in no particular order, just random colors in a random order), adhere them, and PRESTO!  You have Counterfeit Butterfly Paper!!!

Tutorial- Halloween Printable Journal Blocks and Labels

Here are some great downloads to Counterfeit these cute tags/journal cards in this month's Halloween Inspiration Kit...

Echo Park Paper Co. Halloween Scary Story Cards
Scroll down a bit to the "Halloween Labels" on this Halloween Printable Site.

A few more Halloween Printables from Catch my Party.com...I really like the round labels here.

And these are just pretty cool, sort of a more spooky look, and not so "cute" looking. Halloween Journal Blocks.

These tickets aren't specifically Halloween, but they would work on a spooky layout!  Vintage Tickets

If you know of any other Halloween Journal Blocks available for download, feel free to share the links in the comments section below :)
