Fit for a Princess ABAC challenge #34 "5"

Good morning crafters,

I'm so excited to share today because I am the newest member over at Anything But a Card.  I applied to participate in this challenge blog because my main goal is to start scrapbooking more.  I'm SOOOO far behind as baby Steven is almost 8 months old and I don't have a single page for him and Alexis just turned 2 and I hardly have her album started.  I'm such a bad Oma!

With that said, I did NOT create a page for my first challenge post...still such a bad Oma!  This week's challenge is "5".  You could use the number 5, 5 things, 5 colors, whatever 5 represented your idea.  Sadly there just wasn't anything I could do for that challenge that pertained to either of them for a layout, instead it did pertain to my other granddaughter, Miss Bella.  Bella will be 5 years old this year and will have started kindergarden.  I'm assuming that she will probably have made a few friends and will probably want to invite a few to her birthday party.  Now her birthday isn't until December, but I say it's never too early to start planning.  Especially if I am going to be making her party decorations and such as I always do!  So with that said, let's get started...

I had a crown svg pattern in my overloaded SCUT file that I really need to organize.  I have no idea where this file came from, so if it's yours, please let me know and I will give you kudos.  This is why I also need to organize them.

I opened the file in SCAL and manipulated it bit.  I created two crowns and cut the first one at 5 by 2 in pink and the second one at shadow blackout round in purple paper.  The crown even has 5 points to it :)
although the crown was fine it lacked a little personality.

Then I hot glued a bamboo skewer to the larger crown
Because the skewer will be laid between the two layers I pop dotted it and layered the pink crown on top
I also cut out the number 5 for her age and pop dotted it also
and added some glitter glue for sparkle!
Miss Bella loves glitter as much as I do.
Of course, no crown would be complete without some bling and
that was accomplished by gluing on some flat backed rhinestones.
Miss Bella loves coming and playing in my craft room because I have sparklies as she calls my bling!
Now sometimes there is a mistake and you cannot fix it.
Can you see my mistake?
When I layered the pink crown on top of the purple one, my skewer
showed through the pink triangle hole.  Ugh...trial and error!
So I cut out two triangles using my cricut
(I do keep all my cut files named with the project that I created them for,
that's about as organized as I get for my cut files)
a bit larger than the holes and glued them on and added a bit of bling.
I also wrapped the bamboo skewer with some pinkish ribbon and
hot glued it to the top and tied another piece onto it.
Now she will have a beautiful hand held crown for her party.  My plan is to cut more of these (depending on how many little girls will be at the party)
and let them decorate them with glitter and stickers before adding the skewer.
I think these will make a great party favor and something
they can take home to remember Bella's birthday party.

I hope I've inspired you to create something and join us over at Anything But a Card for the challenge "5". Remember, it can be Anything But a Card!

As always, have a great day and God Bless!

Mini challenge at ABAC

Good afternoon

I saw that Anything But a Card had a mini challenge up today and I couldn't wait to play along.  Today's challenge is using 2 or more stencils.  I, however, do not own any stencils.  Weird actually since I seem to have everything else.  I guess I take that back I do own a couple brass stencils, but really have never used them.  I decided today was the day, since I'm trying to branch out a bit again.

I wondered what would happen if I incorporated my stencil and my Amazing Casting Resin.  You do know how I love to experiment.  So off to the races we go...

I spread out some of my resin onto baker's paper.  I do not own one of those fancy Teflon sheets, but this works just as well.
Now, normally this resin sets up within 5 to 10 minutes, but when you
spread it out like this it takes a bit longer.  Therefore, I was able to
prepare my brass stencil with petroleum jelly (vaseline).  I coated both
sides of the stencil because I had no idea what would happen
you can tell when your resin starts setting up, because it starts to turn milky.
When I saw it do that I laid my stencil directly into the resin and pushed it in.
Once the resin had set for a bit I pulled my stencil up and some of it came up with the stencil,
but overall I am pretty happy with the outcome.
Here is my resin piece.
See how pliable it still is?
I just trimmed off around that main piece with my scissors.
Before the resin really has time to set up, scissors work fabulously.
Then using some alcohol inks, I started working on painting my piece.
Alcohol inks take very well to the resin.
I love the look of this...very antique like.
Now, this challenge calls for 2 or more stencils,
but like I said, I don't own any "normal" stencils.
I decided to create my own for some etching.
I cut this flourish out with my cricut on some vinyl scrap.
and attached it to my bottle.
it really doesn't have to be perfect as long as you get the pieces
stuck down that matter the most and be careful that you get it all stuck down.
Sometimes the etching cream will "seep" into tiny crevices.
and now for some etching.  I haven't used my etching cream in forever
and wasn't sure it was still good before even starting this project.
Paint your etching cream fairly thick onto your vinyl and let it sit for about 10 minutes
I usually scrape the rest right back into my bottle.  I'm frugal like that
and then run it under warm water and pull your vinyl off.  Now, you won't
be able to reuse that particular piece of vinyl.
but the etching is wonderful.  I guess my etching cream was still good!
I applied some E6000 to my resin piece and centered it under
the flourish etching.
Then I "taped" it down with some bingo tape (like painters tape) to keep it in place.
and now I have a mini wine bottle turned into a beautiful vase.
I glued some pink ribbon around the top of the bottle and attached a brad.
Adding some pink flowers completes it.
I absolutely love how this turned out.
Now I may not have use traditional stencils for this project,
but sometimes you just have to come up with your own when
you don't have the right stuff.
Experimenting is good!

I hope you've enjoyed my little project today and I can't wait
to see what the next challenge will be over at ABAC.

As always, have a great day and God Bless.

Amazing Molding Putty is in the HOUSE

Good morning

(if you are here for my Creative paperclay submission project, please scroll down)

I am so excited to share a new product with you today.  As you know I've been involved with Creative Paperclay and now we have teamed up with a company called Amazing Molding Putty to give you even more uses for your clay projects.  I've been playing for a couple of days now and I can tell you this is so much fun.  I haven't touched much of anything else, my bad!!!  Ok, so here we go:

First this is what you need:
Here are my containers
now Terri  has an awesome video showing
exactly how to make your mold, but since my
flip doesn't seem to be working right now, I can't
show you exactly how it's done.  :(
So I started out with this pin
when adding two equal parts of the putty and
blending it together you create the beginning of a mold
I inserted my pin into the putty and let it cure for about 5 minutes.
Here is your mold
Now you are ready to cast your mold.  Adding
two equal parts of the Amazing Resin cast and
a drop of cranberry alcohol ink
pour the mixture into your mold slowly
and let that cure for about 10 minutes
now I added a safety pin to the backside of the
pin using some E6000 blue
see how nicely that holds?
and then I added some flat back pearls to the pin
I then attached the pin
to a flower I made
for this card.
The sentiment is from the Getting Cricky
"Positive Thoughts" stamp set
in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Isn't it beautiful.  The possibilities are ENDLESS
If you can mold it, you can cast it, you can pin it.

Now, for the start up of this new DT I am giving one lucky commentator one of these pins.  Would you like one?  Leave me a comment and tell me if you have ever created your own mold or cased anything.
2.  Like AMP on FB and tell them I sent you and come back here and tell me you did that
3.  Follow AMP here on their blog and tell me you did that.
