Red, White and Blue Challenge

Our challenge this week at ABC Design Blog is a color challenge: Red, White and Blue! And you can win a wonderful prize of Inkadinkado products.

I used this adorable stamp from Stampavie Helz Cuppleditch called Ruffles Party, stamping with Memento Tuxedo black ink onto Cryogen paper.  Copics used:

I airbrushed B24 around the image before removing it from my Spellbinders Labels Eight die.  I embossed the red panel with my Cuttlebug Tiny Bubbles embossing folder.  I used my Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder on the blue panel.  Finished size is 4.25 x 5.5 inches.

Since we are showcasing Copic markers at ABC Toys and Crafts this week, I grabbed my Sarah Kay stamps.  I can't think of any stamps I love to color more than these cuties!  This is My Sweet Lili.  I stamped her onto Cryogen paper with Memento Tuxedo black ink.  Copics used:
Lili - RV10, E000
Hair - E21, E25
Dress - E00, E01, RV10, RV11
Bow and dress trim - G40
Bear - E71, R20
Bear's dress - BG72
I knew I wanted to use my Basic Grey Capella paper and began coloring Lili's dress with E01.  A nice soft peachy color that matched the shading on the DP but I got a little heavy handed when I blended it with E00 and it was far too orange for the paper.  Not to worry, that is the beauty of Copics, they are dye inks and can be layered to create new colors.  So I added RV11 and RV10 on top of the previous colors and you see the end result.  A perfect matching color.

I airbrushed E71 around the image before removing it from my Spellbinders Labels Eight die.   I hand cut the brown layer behind the die.  I laid the die I used to cut the image, flat side down, onto my card stock and traced around it.  I cut it out and a perfect copy about 1/8 inch larger than the original.  Finished size is 5 x 7
 inches.

For today's card, I started with this great new stamp from the Penny Black Clear Illumination Flowers stamp set.  I forgot how much I enjoy using these bold floral stamps from Penny Black.  Using water based markers, I colored directly on the stamp, using a shade of orange and pink for the buds and 2 shades of green and a touch of brown on the leaves.  I huffed my breath on the stamp to moisten the ink then stamped the image onto Cryogen paper.  I die cut the image and scalloped layer using Spellbinders Long Rectangle dies.  The DP is from the 6x6 Basic Grey Capella paper pad.  I used Spellbinders Labels 9 dies for the sentiment as well as the horizontal striped piece.  The Get Well Soon is from the Hero Arts Clear Leaf Prints stamp set.  I split the words into 2 lines so it would fit in the die, so easy to do with clear stamps.  Finished size is 6" square.

Artistic Grapes

I love this card.  I love everything about it, the fabulous DP, the stamp, and the border punch; it just came together so nicely.

I began by stamping the grapes from the Hero Arts Clear Stamp set, Artistic Grapes with Memento Tuxedo black onto Cryogen white paper.  I used Copics YG91 on the leaves, RV93 on the grapes and airbrushed RV11 around the image before removing it from the Spellbinders Label 8 die. 

The fabulous DP is from the Basic Grey 6x6 Capella Collection.  I used my Martha Stewart Deep Edge Garden Trellis border punch, adding some pearl accents.  Isn't it just an elegant card?  Finished size is 6" square.

ABC Toys and Crafts Sketch Challenge

This week we have a sketch challenge over at ABC Design blog.  Julie from ABC Toys and Crafts has decided to award the winner of the challenge a $20 shopping spree in her store.

For my card, I chose the Sarah Kay stamp - How Sweet You Are.  I love this stamp and it is so much fun to color with my Copic markers.  I demoed Copics recently at a Scrapbook Mega Meet and was asked to color African American skin.  Here is what I came up with....

The DP is from my stash, very old paper I have had for years.  The border punch is Martha Stewart Deep Edge Garden Trellis.  I hand cut the oval around the image but used my Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Ovals Large die for the blue oval.  Finished size is 6" square.

Hero Arts Elegant Nature

Today is Friday so that means ABC Toys and Crafts.  Sometimes a card comes together so perfectly, I am just astounded.  I have to say I love this card and it is so simple but I think quite elegant. 

I began with this luscious paper from the Basic Grey Indian Summer 6x6 pad, a perfect background for a butterfly.  Next up, this wonderful butterfly from the Hero Arts Antique Engravings clear stamp set.  Of course, I stamped it with Memento ink onto Cryogen paper.  Copics used:
Butterfly - YR21, YR15, YR18, E70, E71, C5
I also airbrushed YR21 and YR15 around the sentiment. 

I cut the butterfly out for some dimension.  Here is a tip; before mounting the butterfly, run a black marker around the edges of the butterfly so the white of the paper is not showing.  It gives it a more finished look.  I used a black Glaze pen to add the antenna to the card.  Airbrushed some gems to match and I was done.  Very quick card but an impressive one, I think.

I airbrushed the flowers to match the card.  I used a piece of the Martha Stewart Deep Edge Punch, Garden Trellis to make the corner accent.  The patterned paper is from the Basic Grey Kioshi collection.  Finished size is 5.5" square.
