Steampunk Balloons

Here is a card I made for a friend to send to her niece who likes Steampunk.  As my friend does not like Steampunk, I kept it pretty mild.  I began with a 5 x 7 inch brown card stock base adding some great DP from Graphic 45.  Next came a border piece using my Gear Mesh Border and more DP.  I added additional Gears to both the border and the corner embellishment.

Lastly came the hot air balloons, brown card stock with more DP from Graphic 45.  I used both the Steampunk Spells paper pack and the Steampunk Debutante paper pack for this card.

Steampunk Mixed Media Canvas

For my Globecraft Piccolo project today, I have my second try at a mixed media canvas.  I began with the wonderful Mini Steampunk Airship Kit.  Using Vintage Black, Vintage Copper and Vintage Gold Piccolo Enamel, I heat embossed the various pieces of the ship.  I only wanted to use 1/2 of the airship for my project as I wanted one side to be flat for adhering to my canvas.  I added a couple of extra gears for more dimension inside the globe.  And I added a Steampunk Airship Accent to the nose of my ship.  I set that aside.

Next I went to work on my 9 x 12 inch canvas.  I used a huge amount of Piccolo's on this canvas.  It was great fun to mix them up and layer them.  I am not sure I can list them all but will try at the end of this post.  I started with the two bubble backgrounds.  I added three mesh borders from Cheery Lynn Designs and then just filled in all the other spots.  The bottle cap, flowers and clothespin are the only other items that are not Piccolos.

I used my Copic airbrush to add color.  I did not have any shimmer paints in the colors I wanted.  I did add some shimmer mist over the background when I was done coloring to add a bit of sparkle.  The last step was to add my Airship and I found out that I had not chosen wisely with my embossing powders.  But I took my Copic marker that I used to airbrush the copper color and colored over the embossing powder on the frame of the ship so it now matches.

Steampunk Tag

I have had a few really stressful days so I took some time to craft this morning.  I created a tag embellished with Globecraft Piccolo embossed book board and Cheery Lynn Designs flowers.  I started with this great Steampunk Gears Necklace and Vintage Gears set.  I embossed all the book board with Vintage Copper embossing enamel.  I love that this has a blue green patina base to it; just like copper that has been out in the weather too long.  You can get quite a few different aged looks by varying the amount of heat you apply or by adding additional layers of enamel.  I think this is my favorite of the enamels.  The key is also embossed with the same Vintage Copper.  Don't you just love the aged look?

I used the necklace bezel as a platform for the largest of the Cheery Lynn Designs Poinsettia Strip flowers.  I used two large, one medium and one small petal to make that flower.  I added some Vintage Photo Distress ink to the petals before creasing them upwards.  I added two small flowers created with one medium and one small petal and then another large flower but this one only has one large, one medium and one small petal.  To give the tag some interest, I embossed it with my Cheery Lynn Designs Do It Yourself embossing plate, adding some Vintage Photo distress ink to bring out the pattern.  This was such a fun project to make.  Thanks for stopping by.

Up Up and Away with Cheery Lynn Designs

Here is one last Steampunk project with the new dies from Cheery Lynn Designs.  I started with an embossed panel using my Eccentric Circles embossing plate; cutting it to 3 1/8 x 6 1/4 inches and trimming the edges to make a tag.  Next I added a portion of the new Pocket Watch die to the upper right corner, again adding a gear in the center before attaching the hands.  I added more Gears along the bottom of the tag.  Using my Hot Air Balloons with Angel Wings, I die cut this fabulous balloon, popping it up on the tag.  I added a bit of Distress ink along the edges of the balloon to make it look rounded.  I added a piece of Celtic Band border down the upper left to balance out the tag.  Lastly I added some Distress Ink along the edges of the tag and some metallic hardware.

More Steampunk fun with Cheery Lynn Designs

I am not what you would call "artsy-fartsy" so I don't normally enjoy this genre of crafting.  But I have to say I had so much fun playing with the new Steampunk dies from Cheery Lynn Designs.  I began my card with this great paper from Graphic 45 and then added the new Corset w/Angel Wing.  I used Distress ink to age it a bit.  This die also comes with lace for the top and bottom edges of the corset but I chose not to use it.  Using the smaller set of wings from the new Wings (set of 2), I again added some Distress ink and then slid them behind the corset.  Next came this great Pocket Watch w/Angel Wing.  The watch is open in the center but I found one of the die cuts from the new Gears (set of 9) fit perfectly in the center.  I added the extra gears as accents on the card.  Finished size is 6" square.

Cheery Lynn Designs goes Steampunk

Cheery Lynn Designs has stepped into the Steampunk World with this month's new release and I made a couple of cards and a tag using them which I will be sharing over the next few days.  For this first card, I began with this fabulous new Clock.  It comes with an angel wing but I did not need it for my card.  I used a brown metallic paper so it has a wonderful sparkle.  Next came the great assortment of Gears (set of 9), again using brown metallic as well as copper metallic paper.  I cut the new Hot Air Balloon w/Angel Wing
