'Blast from the Past' -- July Wayfarer Kit

Hello Crafty Peeps!!! 

I'm back using this fabulous Wayfarer Kit!!! Today's historical photo is courtesy of the Hot Springs Police Department.....this photo... is a Throwback photo.

This is Officer Bill Abbott next to his patrol car.
We’re not sure of the date of the photo, but we know that Officer Abbott retired in the mid 1940's.

Here are a few close ups. I used an old barbed wired stamp for symbolism.

In the left corner you can see the stamped image that was on the paper... I often think of officers and their investigations.. maps are crucial.

I thought this little tag would bring a chuckle... this photo was from around the 40's... they sure didn't have cell phones or emails back then. The tree form is a metal piece from my stash.

More pieces of the cool papers. The metal tag was a gift.

I loved the little words on the papers... the officers... are always on the road.

Here from this angle there was this cool piece of a landscape and I thought it was a perfect representation of our state... the Natural State. I've sure enjoyed working with this kit.

The Majestic-- July Wayfarer Kit from Scraps of Darkness

Hello Crafty Friends!

I hope this finds you doing well. I using the July "Wayfarer" Kit from Scraps of Darkness. What a treat this is!

I'm back again with a look back at older Hot Springs. I found this picture on Pinterest. This was a grand grand hotel back in the day. It sat in a state of disrepair for a long time. Then there was this horrendous fire. They have only just recently demolished it. Now where once this statement of grandeur stood... is now a lovely lawn and they hold movies in the park during the summers.

I am so enjoying using these Blue Fern Studio papers.. I love love love how thick they are. I'm not afraid to use product on them!! I hardly have to put product on them because they are designed so beautifully.

Here are a few close ups. I still think these chippies from Blue Fern Studios that came in the kit are adorable. I've tried to use them sparingly.

Here you can see I used some more of the 49 and Market gorgeous embellishments!! I'll hate to use up the last of these. 

 Here you can see I used some German Glitter Glass Ice Resin that can be found in our store.

"Mob in the Spa' July Scraps of Darkness Wayfarer Kit

Hello my crafty friends... boy was I pleasantly surprised when I looked closer at this paper.


Blue Fern Studios .... thank you for including historical places around the country.
I squealed in delight when I saw.... Hot Springs Arkansas. I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to showcase a few historical items of interest for my little town. yay. I will definitely have to buy more of this paper.

For my 2nd project with this wonderful July Kit from Scraps of Darkness called Wayfarer I present........ MOB IN THE SPA.... yes those little ole' gangsters loving coming to Hot Springs... it was a hot bed.... of crime, with alcohol running free, gambling and legalized prostitution. Of course let's not forget the corruption that was probably running rampant back then as well.
We have a neat museum about it all and a few books have been written as well. I am featuring a photo of a bookcover which talks about Al Capone and a few others. I had a lot of fun with this project. I really connected with it.

Below I will show some close ups..

I love working with stencils and the brick one is my all time favorite. I used some old texturez that wasn't dried up and mixed in some alcohol inks... and I think I've seen in movies.. beware of the black rose... ooooooo... I also used some Nuvo drops in Antique Rose underneath the car.. and a little Anna Griffin Flourish in the corner. I also dropped a few ... prills (which can be found in the Scraps of Darkness Store) onto the bricks..

This card was my absolute favorite... HOT SPRINGS!!! yay. with some beautiful flowers.. a little burlap paper that was included in the kit.. I really like this version because it didn't start fraying and coming apart. and those wonderful 49 and Market flowers... I really want to use them all on one project but I can't. I have to leave some for the other projects... do you ever get that happy with your goodies.??

I loved this adhesive piece for the Great Getaway .. whenever I can find something it is pre-glued for me I make a mental note of it! I also tried a little technique with my die and gilding flakes....from my stash.. I just love it.

I loved the traveler emphemera that was included in the kit. It was so hard to choose just one or two or 4 of them.... 

Why yes I did a little splattering here and there.... a little 49 and Market dragonfly had to pop in... and more little elements...
