Sweet Goodbyes...

Aan alle goede dingen komt een einde, ook aan mijn blog... Ik heb er lang over nagedacht en ben tot de conclusie gekomen dat het beter is te stoppen met bloggen. Heb er gewoon te weinig tijd voor en ik kom haast niet meer aan het geven van reacties toe... Heb in al die jaren erg leuke vriendschappen hieraan over gehouden, ben daar ook zeer dankbaar voor, dus ik wil jullie heel hartelijk danken voor al jullie leuke, gezellige, vrolijke en lieve reacties. Ik zal jullie missen! Ik had jullie nog beloofd om een tutorial te maken over de Transfer Marker?

All good things must come to an end, same goes for my blog... I've been thinking long and hard about it and have come to the conclusion that it's better to stop blogging. I simply do not have enough time for it anymore and leaving comments is taking up so much of my spare time... During the past couple of years I made quite a few friends, for which I'm extremely grateful, so I would like to thank you all for your nice, sweet, dear and lovely comments. 

I will miss you all!

I promised to write a tutorial on the Transfer Markers? Well, here goes: (only valid for laser printers!):

Now turn over your image (image down) and apply your Transfer Marker to the back of the image (I've used a piece of cotton here):

 Ik heb een washandje gepimpt en er een lavendelzakje van gemaakt - I adorned a face flannel and turned it into a lavender pouch:

 Het effect op papier is uiteraard veel scherper, zoals je hier kunt zien - When applied to paper the effect is much deeper/sharper, as you can see here:

En ik wil graag afsluiten met mijn laatste creatie, een fotocollage die ik voor mijn tante heb gemaakt. Het gaat steeds minder met haar... Toen ze deze fotolijst voor het eerst zag, vroeg ze wie die mensen toch waren... Maar nu weet ze gelukkig weer dat het foto's van haarzelf en haar man zijn...

Friends Are Like Flowers In The Garden Of Life...

Pauze, ff tijd om iets op m'n blog te zetten, kom vanavond jullie blogs weer bezoeken ;-)
Bloemen, waarom maken ze een mens toch zo gelukkig? Vanwege de vorm, de kleur, de geur? Als kind tekende ik ze al graag, gewoonweg doodlen, heerlijk! En nu maak ik ze heel graag van stof, linnenband in dit geval. De vorm van de bloemkaart is met een Dutch Doobadoo mal gemaakt:

Flowers, why do they evoke such happy feelings? Because of the shape, the colour, the fragrance? Ever since I was a child I loved drawing them, just plain doodling, really loved this! And now I like making flowers out of fabric, linnen this time. The form of the flower card was made with a Dutch Doobadoo shape:

Hoe heb ik deze bloem gemaakt? Je neemt een reep linnen, vouwt deze dubbel, lijm de randen op elkaar maar zorg ervoor dat er nog een 'tunneltje' blijft. Knip de band daarna in, knip een cirkel en plak het lint hierop (gewoon rondom blijven gaan, totdat je een bloem hebt). Stukje kant erop en weer zo'n mooie versiering uit Frida's winkeltje:
How did I make this flower? Take a strip of linnen, fold it in two, glue the edges (and make sure that you still have a small 'tunnel' left). Cut this new strip every other 1 cm and glue it on a paper circle (just keep going round and round until you have your flower). I added a piece of lace and another fine embellishment from Frida's store:

Some Peony Roses For You

Graag wil ik jullie bedanken voor al jullie trouwe bezoekjes en leuke, grappige, lieve, enthousiaste en spontane reacties op al mijn gefreubel. Kan hier altijd enorm van genieten en ik waardeer jullie dan ook bijzonder. Daarom wil ik jullie vandaag allemaal een bloemetje van eigen hand aanbieden:

Ik heb een piepschuimen bol (de helft) versierd met 6 pioenrozen van koffiefilters. Hier een beknopte werkbeschrijving: Neem de 3 grootste maten van de Spellbinders Peony Nestabilities en stans 6 blaadjes uit 3 koffiefilters (ze zijn immers dubbel?). Neem één velletje van het grootste formaat en vul deze op met reststukjes, dit bolletje vormt het hart van je bloem. Vervolgens plak je ieder laagje op elkaar, van groot naar klein, het bolletje komt in het midden. Om er toch een zacht tintje aan te geven, heb ik rose acrylverf gemengd met water en er de bloemen mee beschilderd. Daarna kan het verdere versieren beginnen met parels, roosjes, een vintageplaatje met daaromheen een frame gemaakt met de Spellbinders Oval Frame en wat plukjes kant tussen de bloemen. 

I took a styrofoam ball (half of it) and mounted 6 peony flowers made from coffee filters. Here's a short tutorial on how to make these: take the largest 3 dies from Spellbinders Peony Nestabilities and cut 6 petals from 3 filters (after all they're double). Take one petal (largest size) and fill it up with scrap filter pieces, this little ball will be the centre of your flower. Next thing you do is glue every layer (from large to small), the ball is stuck in the centre. To give the flower a soft colour, I took some acrylic paint (pink), mixed it with water and applied it to my flowers. Then you can start embellishing even more: I added pearls, roses, a vintage image with a frame made with Spellbinders Oval Frame and some lace between the flowers.

Tijd voor een verjaardag! Birthday Time!

Aan dit horloge zit een verhaal vast... Enige tijd geleden had ik voor mijn zus en m'n nichtjes een armband meegebracht, echt een cadeautje voor de meisjes dus. Zegt m'n jongste nichtje van 5 direct: "heb je ook iets voor papa meegenomen?" Ik reageerde met: "had papa ook graag een armband willen hebben dan?" Ja, ik moest me er toch op de één of andere manier uit redden :-) Maar ja, ik kreeg direct repliek: "Je had bijvoorbeeld een horloge of zo kunnen meenemen?" Toen was dit idee eigenlijk al meteen geboren! Haar papa krijgt nu dus voor zijn verjaardag deze 'kaart', ik heb een horloge gemaakt van kraftpapier, door de embossing folder Tiny Bubbles gehaald, beinkt met Distress Inkt Walnut Stain, daarna VersaMark en clear embossing poeder er overheen en verhit met de heating tool voor de glans. Gebruikte stempels zijn van Stampinback, Hero Arts, Inkadinkado en Mariëtte Verhees. Als je het 'uurwerk' openklapt, komt de rest tevoorschijn. Tijd voor een verjaardag!!
There's a small story attached to this watch... Some time ago I gave my sister and my two nieces a bracelet, a real girly gift. Upon which my youngest niece (she's 5 years old) says:"did you bring daddy something, too?" So I responded:"would daddy have loved a bracelet, too?" What was I to do, I needed some excuse here, lol! But the little one immediately said:"well, you could have brought him a watch or something?" So basically that's when the idea for this watch was born. Her daddy receives this 'card' for his birthday; I made a watch out of kraft paper, I used the embossing folder Tiny Bubbles to emboss it, inked it up with Walnut Stain distress ink, inked it up with VersaMark and sprinkled clear embossing powder over it and took my heating tool to make it look shiny. Stamps used are Stampinback, Hero Arts, Inkadinkado and Mariëtte Verhees. Time for another birthday!!

En dan wil ik nog graag iets met jullie delen waar ik erg blij mee ben, met deze prachtige kaart en cadeautjes die ik van van mijn goede blogvriendin Ros mocht ontvangen. Ze weet dat ik dól ben op schoenen en moet je kijken wat ze allemaal heeft gestuurd! Een tasspiegel, mét afbeelding van een schoentje! Zilveren schoentjes voor in de kerstboom, beeldig! Nogmaals onwijs bedankt Ros!!

And then there's something else I'd like to share today which I'm totally happy with: this gorgeous card and wonderful gifts that my dear blog buddy Ros  sent me. She knows about my shoe addiction and look what she sent me! A small mirror for in my purse, with the loveliest image of a shoe and silver shoes for in the Christmas tree! I love this to pieces! Again thank you so much Ros!!

Zomermode - Summer Fashion

Vandaag eens iets anders dan een kaart of creatie van papier! Ik ben dol op riemen en i.p.v. dat ik er weer eens eentje heb gekocht, heb ik er maar zelf eentje gemaakt van restantjes stof. Ik heb de lengte bepaald met behulp van een goedzittende riem, de basis van de riem heb ik gemaakt van witte suedine (meerdere lagen gevouwen voor de juiste stevigheid). Vervolgens afgewerkt met organza-satijn, kant en tule. Dit ging nog goed met het naaimachine en daar ben ik niet bepaald handig mee! Maar toen begon het gefreubel: het met de hand opnaaien van alle kraaltjes, bloemetjes en glinstertjes. Heb voor de krulvormen lekker m'n fantasie gevormd en heb de naald het werk laten doen ;-) Omdat ik in de zomer nogal veel wit draag en turquoise nu eenmaal één van m'n favoriete kleuren is, kan ik deze riem vrij makkelijk combineren. Today I'm going to show you something else than a paper creation or a card! I love to wear belts and instead of buying one I made one myself with fabric leftovers. I measured a well fitting belt and made the basis out of white suedine (folded several layers). I then applied organza satin, lace and tulle. This went rather well with my sewing machine that usually isn't my friend! But I was finally allowed to pick up the needle and thread in order to sew on all the beads, flowers and bling bling parts. The swirly shapes are my imagination, I didn't follow any specific patterns. In summer I love to wear white and turquoise happens to be one of my favourite colours. This belt easily matches the rest of my summer wardrobe. Thanks for having a peek! Have a lovely weekend!

Tutorial bloemen van zijde/organza - Tutorial flowers of silk/organza

Bedankt voor jullie leuke reacties op m'n bloemen, ik heb voor jullie een tutorial gemaakt zodat jullie ze zelf ook kunnen gaan maken! Je kunt er organza, zijde of voeringsstof voor gebruiken, tenminste, dat zijn de stoffen die ik zelf heb uitgeprobeerd. Experimenteer er gewoon op los zou ik zeggen, wie weet wat voor effect te krijgt! Omdat ik geen filmcamera heb, heb ik er een fototutorial van gemaakt:
Thanks for your wonderful reactions to my flowers, I made a tutorial for you so that you can start making these as well! You can use organza, silk or lining fabric, at least, those are the materials that I've put to the test. Why not experiment a little, who knows what the effects will be! Since I haven't got a handycam I made a photo tutorial:

Perfecte cirkels krijg je bijv. met je Spellbinders, ik heb de scallop gebruikt omdat dit de enige ronde vorm in verschillende maten is die ik heb ;-)

You need to cut out some circles, I used my scallop Spellbinders, the only round die I have in different sizes ;-)

Maak kleine knipjes - Make small cuts:

En dan komt het leuke gedeelte, het vormen van de bloemen! - And here comes the fun part, shaping the flowers!:

Hou ieder blaadje boven het theelichtje en let op dat je je vingers niet verbrandt! De blaadjes gaan nu opkrullen; het is niet erg dat de randjes een beetje "verbranden", dit geeft juist de gewenste vintage look:

Hold each petal over the tea light, don't burn your fingers! The petals will start curling up now, don't worry about "burnt" edges, they will give you that desired vintage look:

Wanneer je alleen de kleine cirkels gebruikt, blijven de bloemen ook klein, hoe meer blaadjes je gebruikt, des te voller dat je bloemen worden - If you only use the small circles, you will have small flowers; the more petals you use, the more body your flowers will have:

Het eindresultaat (je kunt de bloemen versieren met een knoop, ander klein bloemetje o.i.d.) The result (you can embellish your flowers with a button, other tiny flowers e.g.):

Thinner Tutorial

Vandaag laat ik jullie zien hoe je prachtige achtergronden kunt maken met behulp van thinner. Dit is mijn laatste project als GD voor Scrolls Work, nogmaals heel hartelijk dank Jacque dat je mij deze maand wilde hosten! Ik vond het erg leuk om de afgelopen weken met jouw stempels te werken! 
Wanneer jullie het niet erg vinden om vieze vingers te krijgen, dan wil je deze techniek vast wel proberen. Doe het trouwens maar gewoon, waarom hebben ze anders zeep uitgevonden ;-) Ik heb een vel printpapier gepakt (200 gr.) en heb een plaatje uit een magazine (in mijn geval de "Happinez") geknipt.
Today I'm going to show you how to make beautiful backgrounds with thinner. This is my final project as GD with Scrolls Work, thanks again for having me this month Jacque! It was my pleasure working with your fabulous stamps these past few weeks! 
If you girls don't mind getting dirty hands, you might want to try this technique. Try anway, why else would someone have taken the trouble to invent soap ;-) Anyway, I took a sheet of standard print paper (200 gr.), cut out a nice image from a glossy (mine is from "Happinez").

Nu komt het leuke gedeelte: plaats de afbeelding omgekeerd op je witte vel papier en bevestig dit met wat plakband.

Now here comes the fun part: you place this image upside down on top of your white sheet and make sure it's securely fastened with some tape.

Duik je kelder of garage in, pak de fles thinner van het schap en ga terug naar je werktafel. Dit is eigenlijk wel een klusje voor buiten, want helaas, thinner is niet door Huize Dior uitgevonden ;-) Neem nu wat make-up remover pads en doe er vervolgens wat thinner op. Wrijf nu de pad over de achterkant van je plaatje en zie hoe het papier bijna transparant lijkt.

Then you go down to your cellar or garage, pick up that bottle of thinner you've probably got stashed away and go back to your working table. You might want to work outside though, because unfortunately thinner is not manufactured by Dior ;-) Take your facial cleansing pads and sprinkle some of the thinner onto one of them. Start rubbing the pad across your image and see how the paper becomes almost transparant. 

Ook goed voor je armspieren trouwens! Tussendoor kun je kijken hoe het wordt, de inkt van het plaatje wordt mooi afgegeven op je witte papier:

Nu kun je verder gaan met afwerken. Ik stel jullie graag voor aan Penelope (#4022), een vrouw vol mooie dromen en verbeelding. Het leek me wel een leuk idee om de boom "uit haar hoed" te laten komen, om zo haar manier van denken te verbeelden. Heb vervolgens de achtergrond verder ingekleurd met pastelkrijt, je krijgt zo een zachte, wat dromerige uitstraling op je papier. Wat is ons leven zonder fantasie? Vandaar ook de quote van George Bernard Shaw. Veel plezier bij het uitproberen van deze techniek! Hieronder is het eindresultaat:

Then you can start finishing your project. Please say hi to Penelope (#4022), a woman full of beautiful dreams and imagination. I had the tree "come out of her hat" to symbolize the way her mind works. I took some chalks both to colour the background and to give it a soft, dreamy look. What would life be without some imagination? Hence also the George Bernard Shaw quote. Have fun trying this technique! And here's the final result:

Tutorial bloem van lint - Ribbon flower tutorial

Toen Kirsty van City Crafter Challenge me vroeg om deze week Guest Designer te worden, hoefde ik natuurlijk niet lang na te denken, en al helemaal niet vanwege het feit dat er handgemaakte bloemen moesten worden gebruikt! Dit is mijn bijdrage, ik ben een groot liefhebber van de 19e eeuw, vandaar de hoge hoed, én van bloemen natuurlijk!! Het papier is Wisteria van Basic Grey. De hoed is altijd passend te maken, wanneer de cirkels te groot zijn, knip je gewoon de rand af. Ik heb ook een tutorial voor jullie gemaakt, de foto's spreken denk ik wel voor zich, zo niet dan hoor ik het graag! Kirsty, nogmaal heel hartelijk dank voor deze spotlight!!

When Kirsty of City Crafter Challenge asked me to be this week's Guest Designer, I didn't have to think about it, I was utterly thrilled! Also because of the fact that we had to use handmade flowers! Here's my contribution, I'm very fond of the 19th century, hence the top hat, and of flowers, of course! Papers are from Basic Grey (Wisteria). When the top circle of the hat is too big, you just cut off the rim. I also made a tutorial for you, I think the pictures go without saying, if not, just let me know! Kirsty, thanks a bunch for this spotlight!!

Neem een stukje vilt voor de basis van de bloem en naai het lint in lussen erop. Ik heb diverse kleuren lint gebruikt en kralen geregen. Een mooie knoop of andere versiering maakt het geheel af. De rose strik heb ik gemaakt van een lint uit de aanbiedingsbak. Take a small piece of felt for the flower basis and sew on the ribbon in loops. I used different colours of ribbon and beads. A nice button or other embellishment is the finishing touch. The pink mesh is made of ribbon of a stock sale.

Tutorial schoentje - Tutorial shoe

Ik heb inmiddels al van diverse mensen het verzoek gekregen om een werkbeschrijving voor het schoentje dat op de cover van ARTSpecially nr. 9 staat, dus hier vind je het patroontje. Het idee voor dit schoentje is al vorig jaar zomer geboren. Ik had nl. een paar heerlijke zomermuiltjes maar deze hadden hun beste tijd wel gehad en met pijn in m'n hart moest ik hier dus afstand van doen. Nu zat het binnenzooltje los en ik vond de vorm zo sierlijk dat een ideetje gauw was geboren. Ik heb het alleen wat spitser gemaakt en er zelf een bijpassend bovenkantje bij getekend. Je hebt 2 zooltjes nodig en 1 bovenkant (al voorzien van vouwlijnen) om het schoentje te maken. Neem een stukje ijzerdraad en bevestig dit tussen de 2 zooltjes (maak vooraf in de hak van het onderste zooltje een klein gaatje waardoor je het ijzerdraad haalt). Plak de 2 zooltjes op elkaar  en buig het geheel in de gewenste vorm. Wil je een lagere hak? Knip dan gewoon een stukje ijzerdraad dat uit de hak steekt af. Versieren doe je met mooie kralen. Leef je uit! Hier nog wat voorbeelden:

Ik doe mee met de challenge bij Bizzy Becs, "Create a little something" en aangezien dit een "little" schoentje is, leek me dat wel leuk! En bij AiFactory is the challenge "3D". En bij Etsy Inspired (Enchanted Beehive) zag ik mezelf al heerlijk badderen met zo'n prachtig stuk zeep en mijn schoentje met "SAVONS" opdruk past daar best goed bij, toch?

Several people requested a tutorial on the small shoe which is on the cover of ARTSpecially nr. 9, so here you can find the template. The idea for this shoe was born last summer. I had a pair of wonderful summer slippers but they were worn out and I felt sorry for having to let them go. The inner sole was loose and I loved the shape of it, so a new idea was born. I only made it a little pointier and I also made the top part. You need 2 soles and 1 top part (folding lines included) in order to make the shoe. Take a piece of iron wire and place it between the 2 soles (you will also need to make a small hole in the lower sole's heel through which you can pull the iron wire). Glue the 2 soles together. Afterwards you can easily bend the now 2-layered sole in the shape you want. Would you like to have a lower heel? Just cut off a little piece of iron wire sticking out of the heel. Decorate with nice beads. Eat your heart out! Above you'll find some more examples.
This is my submission for the Bizzy Becs challenge, "Create a little something" and since this is a "little" shoe I thought it would be fun participating! I'm also entering this for the AiFactory challenge "3D". And Etsy Inspired (Enchanted Beehive) really triggered my imagination. They have such gorgeous soaps and I think my little shoe with "SAVONS" print on it would go pretty well together in your bathroom, don't you think?
