Soft Pastels

Wanderlust continued to focus on soft pastels this week. My first piece is an exercise in freedom and play, adding various layers.

My second piece is also about layers, with a bit of collage added.

Pastels & Graphite

This week at Wanderlust, Rachel Urista showed us how she used pastels and graphite with acrylic paint in her work. Well, I have several sticks of soft pastels and graphite knocking around and, on the whole, I don't use them. So this was a very good exercise for me. Here are the end results. What do you think?

Bag Party!

Last week, Roben-Marie Smith was the guest artist at Wanderlust. She showed us how to make a folder from a paper carrier bag.  I love all the painty layers!

Here is my folder closed:

Now I just have to decide what to put in it!

My House!

Week 35 at Wanderlust was loosely based around mosaics. I used some of Kasia's techniques to create these four houses.

I glued old papers onto gessoed backgrounds and then added various colours of Fresco Paints. Once dry I added the words (c/o T Baxter) and applied bees wax and mica chips. Lastly I added some inks.

Dreams

I haven't had much time for art this week, but I have managed to complete my Wanderlust page, inspired by guest artist Carolyn Dube. All the colour you see is created using Dylusions Ink Sprays.

Last week, Lindsay Weirich was the guest artist at Wanderlust. She showed us how to use different techniques with inks. This isn't the kind of canvas I would normally create, but I enjoyed doing it and learnt in the process. Can't be bad!
