Embossed Day

Hi and welcome!  Today's Freshly Made Sketch challenge was designed by Jennifer Timko and I took a literal route to come up with this card.

Please excuse the watermark.  My daughter borrowed my laptop so I had to make do with a very basic text overlay!  I pulled out Beautiful Day for this card and stamped the layering images before die-cutting.  I arranged them onto a dark gray circle die-cut and then onto a dry-embossed lighter gray panel.  I finished with a die-cut sentiment, using direct-to-paper to get the same colour shadow panel as my leaves.

Thanks so much for visiting.  Please check out the fabulous cards made by the design team.

Oak Note

Welcome!  Today is the last day of my time off work so I've been trying to spend as much time in my craft room as possible the last couple of days.  As well as making a couple of cards for upcoming design team challenges, I also found the time to make a card for some current challenges.  This card uses the sketch at Paper Players as well as the mood board at Just Us Girls.

This card involved a lot of messy play and it was great!  I found a panel of cardstock I'd spritzed with mica sprays last year (using the Halloween 2022 collection).  I wanted to brighten the panel a bit so I added a few yellows and oranges and set it aside to dry.  For the background panel, I ink-blended some Distress Oxide inks and die-cut with the Shiplap Builder die before adding Vintage Photo DOX to the edges of each die-cut.  I adhered all the individual elements to a panel of photocopy paper and then die-cut with a stitched rectangle die.

The kraft panel was embossed with a brick embossing folder after being die-cut with a smaller stitched rectangle die.

Once the mica panel was dry, I die-cut it with the shadow layer of the Oak Leaf die then cut the inner with black cardstock.  The sentiment was die-cut from white and black and adhered together, then it was just a matter of assembly.

Thanks so much for visiting.

Snowflake Christmas

Hi and welcome to a new challenge from the Freshly Made Sketches team, where this week Jacquie Southas is our hostess.  Again, I took a few liberties with her sketch and came up with this card:

For some reason, when I sat down to make this card, I couldn't come up with anything for the squares - yet I love colour-blocked cards!  Go figure!  So I deviated slightly and added three elements in roughly the same spots as the squares and the sentiment where it is meant to go 😄

The snowflake dies and the sentiment are all stacked three deep for dimension and the snowflakes were spritzed with shimmer spray before being adhered to the card.  The background paper is from my hoarded Blurry Flurries pack.  The sentiment is silver hot-foiled and I finished with some pearls.

Thanks so much for visiting.  I hope you'll play along with the challenge and check out the fabulous cards made by the DT.

Deco Birthday

Hi!  I'm back with my second card as Surprise Party Guest over at Seize the Birthday.  Today's challenge is a colour challenge - purple, blue and green.

At first, I was heading down the flower route and then I decided to follow Laura Bassen's lead and check out geometric patterns on Pinterest which gave me the inspiration for this card:

Firstly, I black hot-foiled the Deco Triangles plate onto Hammermill cardstock, then used the co-ordinating stencils to colour up the panel.  I cut it down slightly and matted it onto a Dark Indigo panel before adding it to a white card base.

The sentiment is a new-to-me die from Memory Box which I die-cut from black and mounted onto a white shadow die.  Each layer is stacked two high.

And for those that are interested, here is the inspiration for my card.  I used black foil rather than gold because gold wasn't one of the challenge colours, but I think this card would look pretty cool in gold as well!

Thanks for visiting!  I hope you'll head over to the Seize the Birthday challenge and have a go!
