HB 2 U {SSSC274}

Hello friends! I'm back with a card for this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge. Here is a peek at the sketch:

I started by creating the polka dot background by cutting a sheet of patterned paper to 3-3/4" x 4-1/2" and then cut it at a diagonal about 1/3 of the way up from the bottom. That gave me a 1/2" space to stamp my sentiment. I used more patterned paper from the same Echo Park paper pack to make the balloons, which I popped up over both sides of the diagonal. I realized when I edited my photo that I forgot to add strings! Oh well. They'll just be floating in space here.

Be sure to stop by the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge Blog where you can see more inspiration from the design team and link up your project too!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

recipe -

A Blessing to Me {SSSC267}

Hello there! Happy weekend to you. It is time for another sketch from Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge - here's a peek:

For this one, I changed up the star element to the Hibiscus Die-namics from MFT. I cut out the blossoms from Persimmon and Orange Fizz card stock and then added some Green Room card stock leaves. I used a stylus to round out the leaves and petals so they have a more dimensional look to them. The flower center is Lemon Drop along with a few little black enamel dots. I stamped the sentiment from PTI's Signature Greetings in Black Licorice ink, and left it at that. I feel like it needs more, but my procrastination on this one is making me leave it as is. Ha! It will have to do.

That's it for me today - please stop over and visit the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge blog, where you can find card samples from the team and you may link up your project there as well.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

recipe -
stamps: signature greetings (pti)
paper: smooth white (mft), persimmon (mft), orange fizz (mft), lemon drop (mft), green room (mft), summer splash (mft)
ink: black licorice (mft)
accessories: hibiscus die-namics (mft), black enamel dots (doodlebug designs), foam tape

Thank You {CTD337}

Hi friends! I'm back with another card for Color Throwdown - woot! This week's color palette is perfectly spring. Love the pop of orange!

Reflections, from Paper Smooches, is one of my favorite flower building sets I have. For this card, I cut out several of the coordinating dies and stamped and layered and stamped some more. Originally, I had placed all the flowers and leaves across the panel, but I thought it needed a little something more, so I added the little blue flower sticking up in the back - kind of like those wild grey hairs I have. Ha!! I also added a white enamel dot on the center flower and balanced the arrangement with some Mango Pearls as well. Fun stuff!

Be sure to check out what the rest of the Color Throwdown team created for you today:
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Thank You {CTS #106)

Happy Friday!! I managed to squeak out another card for you this week since I wanted to use this fun layout from CAS(E) this Sketch. I'm too late to post for the challenge, but that's okay - it's how I roll most of the time - a day late and a dollar short. Or lots of dollars short ;)

This sketch was quite the challenge and I think I stamped the stripes about 5 different times, scrapping the paper, before settling for this outcome - but it was fun to do, all the same. I like to be pulled out of my comfort zone sometimes. I used the stripe trio image from Ombre Builders by Papertrey Ink, and stamped them in various rainbow colors. I do really like the way the ink overlaps and blends. I sort of cheated with the sentiment and stamped it horizontally instead of on the diagonal like the sketch says to do. I'm already out of my comfort zone, so let's not get too crazy! Am I right? Ha!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

recipe -
stamps: keep it simple-thank you (pti), ombre builders (pti)
paper: smooth white (mft)
ink: black licorice (mft), razzle berry (mft), orange fizz (mft), banana split (mft), sour apple (mft), blu raspberry (mft), grape jelly (mft)
accessories: clear rhinestones (su!), foam tape

I'm using the color palette from this week's ColourQ Challenge, which is beautiful and bold and perfect!

I've had my eye on the Ombre Builders set from Papertrey Ink for a long time and I finally bought it this week. I chose the small dot pattern and stamped it repeatedly with the colors from ColourQ (LOVE). The sentiment is from PTI's Birthday Bash Sentiments, which is stamped in black (I'm thinking I should have embossed it in black). I really wanted the background stamping and sentiment to POP off the card, so I embellished the different layers in white and scattered some clear sequins.

The rest of the Sweet Sunday Stampers have much more for you to see this week - please stop over and see:

Thanks so much for stopping by!

So Grateful for You {CTS #96}

Good morning! I'm back with a clean & simple card using CAS(E) This Sketch's CTS #96.  This was a fun card to make, layering all the images together.  I started by stamping the leaves from Papertrey Ink's Turning a New Leaf set and then used the flower images in Thankful Thoughts from My Favorite Things.  I sketched a light pencil line along the side of the card stock after I stamped the images so I could cut out the overlapping details and have the leaves and flowers peeking over the edge of the paper.  I stamped the sentiment in Black Licorice ink vertically (which I need to get used to, it still looks a little off to me) and then added a few enamel dots for some dimensional accent.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

recipe -
stamps: signature greetings (pti), thankful thoughts (mft), turning a new leaf (pti)
paper: smooth white (mft), smoke (sss)
ink: black licorice (mft), tangy orange (mft), lemon drop (mft), sour apple (mft), gumdrop green (mft), blu raspberry (mft)
accessories: birthday girl enamel dots (doodlebug), foam tape

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 226

Good morning!!  It's time for another Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge!  Want to play along?  Here is the deal: make a card with this layout and use the InLinkz button down at the very end of this post to enter your card. The links will close on Friday at 10 PM (Mountain Time). Be sure to link directly to the blog post or gallery image which features your card. You may post a picture of the sketch on your blog, but please save the image to your computer first. Use the keyword SSSC226 if you plan to post your card in an online gallery.

In my ongoing effort to organize myself, I have found some much neglected stamps from Papertrey Ink. I've had several "I forgot about this one!" moments this past week or so and I am getting my creative mojo going again.  Yay!!

I stamped the leafy vine from Turning a New Leaf in Grout Gray Ink, adding the sentiment over the top in Black Licorice.  I added a Tangy Orange flower from the Flower Medley Die-namics set and added a few little rhinestones in the center.  I thought the stamped vine made the flower look a little lopsided, so I cut out a leaf trio from the Flower Box Die-namics set in Grout Gray card stock and I hope it brought a little balance back.

That's it for me today.  Be sure to see what the rest of the Sweet Sunday Stampers have created this week:
