Spring Card Camp - Day 4

Hello!  I made these cards with guidance from the Online Card Classes Spring Card Camp.  Julie Ebersole was the guest artist, and I created these based on her class.  I made some changes and don't want to give away the details from the class because it is a paid class.

This was colored with copic markers and I added shimmer to the die cut.

I used glossy accents on the donut and some spun sugar ink on the background.  I don't know if you can see the embossed lines on the right bottom corner. I used a score board to get them.

Spring Card Camp - Day 3

Hi friends!  I'm taking the Spring Card Camp class from Online Card Classes.  Yana Smakula showed us a cool technique today.  I don't want to get into specifics about how I did this because it is a paid class.  However I did use several colors of cardstock and a sentiment strip from SSS for this card.  There are clear crystals on the card.  They look white because I took the picture right after I added them to the card and the glue was still wet!  I added shimmer to parts of the cards as well.  You could do more than one card like this with leftover pieces, however I only made one today.  I'll use the scraps to make more for sure!  (It's a little time consuming and I ran out of time!)

Just Us Girls #304 - Word Week

Hi friends!  This week over at Just Us Girls it's word week.  Maria chose the word Autumn...my favorite time of the year!  I'm pretty sure it's Maria's as well!

 

This is my interpretation of Autumn...leaves.  I started with the woodgrain stencil and brushed corduroy ink.  Then I went to work on the tag.  I stamped the leaf sprig on the tag with Versamark ink and embossed it with white powder.  Then I took three distress inks and sponged them on, blending them together.  I then die cut the leaf from watercolor paper.  I worked on this leaf for a looooong time!  I did it and re-did it four times before I settled on this one.  I sponged green on the stem and towards the center of the leaf.  Then I applied some orange and yellow inks.  I then added some drops of water on it and heat set it.  The veins were stamped with brown ink.  The baker's twine, sequins, and sentiment finish it off.

 

I used this week's Tag You're It! challenge as my inspiration.

 

I'm also taking the Background Check Online Card Class and the sponging on the tag is a technique they talked about.

Time Out #36 and Just Us Girls #303 Reminder

Hello all!  I have a card for a few challenges.  I'm taking the Background Check class from Online Card Classes and I made a background from one of the lessons.  I made it into a card for the current Time Out challenge.

 

This is the card we are CASE-ing by Alice Wertz.

I sponged the middle of the cardstock with orange and blue inks.  I die cut this tea cup from blue cardstock and covered it with Wink of Stella shimmer and Glossy Accents.  I stamped the sentiment in black ink.  Simple CAS card!

 

I never got to do a card for the current Just Us Girls challenge.  I was on vacation last week and ran out of time.  So I thought I'd use the blue and orange from this beautiful photo (love those colors together!) that my friend Cheryl found.  The challenge runs through tonight (Thursday) at 9:00 pm EST, so you still have time to play!

Celebrate!

Hi everyone!  I'm taking the Background Check class from Online Card Classes this week. (If you're not taking the class, I suggest you do.  All of their classes are very well done and informative!)  I've created a couple of backgrounds and made them into cards.  I'm sharing a plaid one today and a different background tomorrow. 

 

Laura Bassen created a background similar to this one and made a card with it similar to this one as well.  I guess you can say I cased her!  I used three pigment inks and a stripe stamp. I also used two die inks (the black and gray).  I sponged on the gray color and stamped the black with a thinner stripe stamp.  The scallop circle was die cut from the center then I embossed the sentiment in white.  I added some yellow sequins.

 

My colors came from this week's Color Throwdown.  I did add in the gray and black as neutrals.  Love these colors!

Merry Everything

I recently took the Online Card Classes Holiday Workshop 2014.  One of the days featured one layer cards and Jennifer McGuire did a fabulous one that I was itching to try.   I had some time on Saturday to try it.

 

The technique was partial die cutting using a scallop die and this Santa die from My Favorite Things.  After I die cut everything, I stamped the Santa and colored it with copic markers.    Then on the inside, I made a stencil of a larger scallop and used distress inks with a blender to lay some color down.  I forgot to take a picture of the inside.  The sentiment was stamped and I added some snow with a white signo gel pen.

Stretch Your Stamps 2

Hi everyone!  I'm participating in the Online Card Classes current class called Stretch Your Stamps 2.  These classes are wonderful and are appropriate for all levels of stampers.  I think I've taken all their classes and I think they are all fabulous!

I shamelessly CASED Kristina's cards with some changes.  I guess I CASED her layouts and colors, but used different stamps.  I used PTI's Background Basics: Venice stamp and their Wonderful Words: Hello stamp to create this card.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts' Year Round Sentiments.  I don't want to give away how I created this card because the class is for paid participants, but let me tell you it was fun and relaxing to create it!

This is the second card I made with the remainder of the piece I created.  I stamped the Happy sentiment from the same Hero Arts stamp set.  Then I die cut the birthday word about five or six times from black cardstock and stacked them together.  I added some Wink of Stella shimmer and Glossy Accents to make it more "special"!  I added enamel dots to both cards...love those things!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all of you hard-working moms out there!  I have a mom and a mother-in-law that I painstakingly made cards for last night.  They took a long time to make, but I was having fun and it was for a good occasion!

I'm taking the Online Card Classes Watercolor for Card Makers class, and I watched a video by my favorite stamper, Jennifer McGuire.  So I of course had to try her technique!

 In her video, she embossed her image with white embossing powder.  On my first card I, of course, forgot to do that and stamped it in black Archival ink.  I was not happy with the result  until I finished the entire thing.  I almost tossed it, but with watercoloring you can play around with the colors even after it's dried.  That's what I did here.  I didn't give up.  I colored the image with Distress markers in fired brick and spun sugar for the flowers and mowed lawn and forest moss (?) for the leaves.  I didn't like the way the leaves came out at first (too muddy-looking), but they look fine after a while.  I added some blue in the background with tumbled glass.  This actually wasn't my favorite of the two, but looking at it now, I like it so much more!

Here is my second attempt, the way Jennifer did it.  I like it much better in person.  It really is so much prettier than how the camera captured it.  I embossed this one in white embossing powder.  It was actually easier to color embossed.  Here I used spun sugar and picked raspberry for the flowers and just mowed lawn for the leaves.  I like the leaves better in this one.  Again, the background was colored with tumbled glass, but I think I used too much color.   I finished both off with some banners, the sentiment, pearls, and some Wink of Stella shimmer which you cannot see in the picture.

Online Card Classes - Watercoloring

Hi everyone!  Today is day 1 of the Online Card Classes Watercolor for Card Makers. 

 There were three different watercolor techniques presented today, and I chose to do one that Kristina Werner taught.  I used a retired background stamp from SU called Hand Stitched, some white embossing powder, and water color paints to create this strip.  It started out as a full panel, however I wanted to follow the Clean & Simple sketch, so I cut it in half.

I'm also entering this into the Catered Crop button challenge.

 

Sorry for the short post, but I didn't want to give too many details since this is a class that's paid for.  Also, it's kind of late and I need some sleep!
