Paper Works Ultimate Summer Challenge

My friend, Tracy Harp, asked me to participate in a challenge sponsored by Paper Works Co. It's called the Ultimate Summer Challenge. I'm participating with Tracy, Cheryl Rowley, and our friend Debbie Morrissey (from Buffalo Stamps & Stuff). We are called the Buffalo Stampers. There were four challenges that each one of us had to choose...a sketch, color, inspiration, and technique. I chose the inspiration challenge. We were to be inspired by the image and the overall feel of the card. So the image I chose this image from Rachelle Anne Miller called Puddles of Fun. I was inspired by the umbrella and splashes of water for my card.I started with this dp from My Mind's Eye Quite Contrary line with umbrellas and used that as my color inspiration as well. The image is colored with copic markers and I placed star dust stickles on the puddle. The image had to be placed on an angle so you could still see the umbrellas on the dp! I used an EK Success punch on the bottom of the dp, then layered the backside (the yellow polka dots) underneath. I then put these blue and clear rain drops randomly on top of that. The bow is bermuda bay that I just looped around a couple of times to make the double bow, and placed a big yellow button in the middle.

Our cards are on SCS for the judges to see. I would love for you to stop by and add some comments. You can find my card here and Cheryl's card here. Please stop by and leave us some love. Tracy has not uploaded her card and Debbie's card yet, but I'll link them when she does.

Thanks so much and thanks for stopping in!

Two Challenges, One Card!

Did you see the great sketch over on SCS today? I love sketches, and this one is particularly nice because it's a simple one that you can really dress up. I also looked at today's Color Throwdown Challenge and really liked the colors they chose (lavender lace, so saffron, and garden green), so I decided to incorporate both challenges into one card. This is what I came up with.

This is a Rachelle Anne Miller stamp from Stampavie called Peek-a-Boo. I purchased this a while back and never inked it up! It was just sitting there waiting for today. When I saw the CTD colors, I knew I had a SU dp that would work with these colors. I found a retired one, Uptown, and also a current one, Tea Party, that both fit the bill. Uptown, however, had this great garden green piece that I fell in love with, so I chose to use it. I kept mostly to the saffron and green because my image had so much purple in it. (I'm not a real big fan of purple, but I can tolerate it in small doses!) I colored the little guy with copics that I matched up pretty closely, and only used those three colors. I didn't want to introduce any other colors because it is a color challenge! I'm not real crazy about my coloring on this...the dark colors are difficult for me to shade! I gave it a little bit of dimension by putting the butterfly up on dimensionals, and I added star dust stickles for that special sparkle I love!

Thanks for stopping in today. Hope you've had a great hump day! Not much longer until the weekend! :-)

My Time to Color Challenge

Is this just the cutest image or what? I just loved it when I first saw it and placed my order right away! It's a new image from the Rachelle Anne Miller line from Stampavie called Giving Shelter. I made this card for Lauren Meader's new challenge called My Time to Color Challenge. This is the first in a line of different challenges every week. She chose these colors for her first challenge. I had them all except for the Smokey Shadow, so I substituted it with SU's Basic Gray.

I just love how my ribbon matched this challenge! I just purchased it this weekend at Michael's in their dollar bin! I new it would be used quickly! I also used my new Blossom nesties that I just purchased yesterday at my LSS, Buffalo Stamps & Stuff. We all went there for a shopping spree after our Spring Fest stamping event (see the post below). I also love the sentiment with this...it's from PTI's new Scattered Showers set! I think it's got to be one of my favorites so far! Well, I'm off to bed. I wasn't going to stamp today, but I was so pumped about yesterday's event, that I just had to play again! Please read the next post about the event. It was so much fun and you'll get to see what I made for the swaps I was in! Thanks for stopping by! ETA: I have two posts I did late yesterday, so please scroll down and make sure you see those as well! Thanks!
