You are my Valentine

Hi everybody!

It's already the 2nd month of the year and I wonder, where did January go? I feel like I slept the whole month what with my strange work hours and my lack of socialization (except in FB).. lol .. But I hope yours was a good one.

After almost a month I was finally able to get my club kit. So full of cuteness! I colored one of them and I had so much fun coloring that I colored several more and made the same cards with it. I thought they looked cute enough to give away for valentines day.

Sorry I can only share 1 photo since my camera is currently not available and my camera phone is not the most advanced one.. lol..

You are My Valentine Tilda
Materials: Cardstock - Simon Says Stamp Card Base; Daler Rowney Cold Pressed Watercolor Paper; Distress Ink; Patterned Paper - Pebbles Ink; Stickles, Sequins, Uniball Signo White Pen
Stamping: You are my Valentine from the Lovely Duos Collection; Archival Ink in Jet Black; Distress Reinkers

Some techniques I've done for this card..

1) For the background, I used a good wet on wet watercolor paper and painted it with different shades of blue Distress Inks. When it was completely dried I applied droplets of water and moved the paper around to take out some of the Distress ink and then blotted it with a paper towel. It makes for a cool bokeh effect. I picked up this technique from Kristina Werner who makes fantastic cards :)

2) Shaker cards are really trendy nowadays. To make the shaker cards instead of using foam tape to create a well for the beads and sequins, I die cut some fun foam.

3) To add to the bokeh effect of the card's background, I added sequins of 2 sizes.

4) I am not a fan of my handwriting but I wanted to try if I can improve my script. The sentiment is handwritten.

Thank you so much for dropping by :)

Magnolia Advent Calendar

Hi everybody!

Thanks for dropping by my blog to celebrate the 2nd day for Magnolia's advent calendar. Magnolia lovers for years know that this is the most wonderful month of the year with 31 days of wonderful giveaways. You could be one of the lucky ones :)

And here are my cards for this giveaway..

It's something very quick and easy especially this holiday season when we have to cook up a lot of cards to send out to loved ones.

I find that watercolors are much more easier to work with especially with coloring multiple images. They blend much more easier and faster that Distress Inks.

I used Koi Watercolors Field Sketch Box (24 colors)

To get the marbling effect, I saturated the background with color carefully covering up the stamped image. Then I sprayed it crazy with a lot of water and blotted it with a paper towel.

Add interest to the card by adding dots of Liquid Pearl. It also makes the image look 3d :)

For a chance to win a surprise package for today's advent calendar, just leave a comment in this post.

Good luck everybody and have a great week ahead :)

Magnolia Design Team Christmas Blog Hop

Hi everybody and welcome to our November blog hop :) Are you guys excited?

We have 2 blog hops happening this month and I am your first stop :) We are all excited to be part of this hop and this is just a warm up for the annual December advent calendar. I hope you guys have fun!

And for this hop, let me share a card I made using one of the stamps from the club kit from Magnolia's latest collection Waiting for Christmas. And as usual, I have nothing but praise for this new collection :)

Sparkle Poinsettia Tilda
Materials: Cardstock: American Crafts; Patterned Papers: Magnolia; flowers: Magnolia, iamroses; Acrylic Angel: Magnolia; wood flourishes, pistils, pearl strings, pompom ribbon, pearls, lace, doily, corrugated board, stockinged bird, gesso, Stickles, Distress Ink; Stampendous Fragments and Frantage
Stamping: Stamp: Sparkle Poinsettia Tilda from the Waiting for Christmas collection; Copic Markers; Xpress It blending paper; Memento Ink

So my color scheme for this card is not your usual Christmas colors. I thought white would be really nice to make her poinsettias stand out.

And here are some close ups on how I arranged the embellishments (which next to coloring is one of my biggest challenges)..

In order for you to be eligible for the wonderful gift pack from Magnolia for this hop, just leave a comment on this blog post and the rest of the DT blogs participating on this hop. Here's a list of the DTs participating in the November 15 blog hop:

Thank you for dropping by and good luck :)
