November Turkeys

Here it is, the 14th of another month and that means we have a new challenge starting over at FarmQuest, where we always want to see something "farm or country" and this time with the specific theme of "Turkey."  What better for a November challenge than to feature the star of a Thanksgiving feast?

The sentiment and image were printed together, then the image was colored with Sanjoki markers, and the white highlights were done using a gel pen.  The image was cut with a QuicKutz die and I used brown gauze paper for the background (DCWV.)  The double layer butterfly was in my stash of pieces cut and waiting to be used so I don't remember which die was used to cut it, but the tiny wooden bead for the body was in an old Stampin' Up package which I found when I was cleaning out and organizing a stack of drawers with old embellishments.

I really like the CAS look to the finished card.

Thanksgiving in the Leaf Pile

To answer your unasked question, "No, I don't think it's odd to be grateful for piles of leaves!"  Have you ever seen the joy of the faces of children as they jump and play in the leaf piles?  Be thankful for that joy.  :-D

It's another first Sunday of the month and that means we have a new challenge starting at 613 Avenue Create.  Our theme is always "Anything Goes" but there's an optional theme each time and this month the option is "Embossing, wet or dry."  We have a sponsor this month, SheepSki Designs, and they provided images for the DT to use on their inspiration cards.  I chose to use "Catching Leaves."

The image is colored with watercolors and white gel pen.  I cut the image with a Spellbinders die, and mounted it onto burlap paper from DCWV.  The dp in the background is a scrap of digital paper that was in the basket of autumn scraps.  The sentiment was printed and fussy cut.

"Corny" for Thanksgiving

OMGoodness, where did the last 2 weeks go?  It's already time for another challenge over at FarmQuest where we always want to see farm/country elements on your cards but, in addition, we have a theme you must follow and this time the theme is "Corn."  That can be anything having to do with corn - ears, husks, stalks, corn fields, Indian Corn, dried corn.  Let your imagination go and show us something fun.

I picked an image from my collection of QKR Stampede, colored it in my favorite fall color combo (yellows and browns) with Sanjoki markers, and cut it with an old Spellbinders die.  The corn stalks background behind the image was self made using clip art to create the dp.  The sentiment was printed and cut with an Avery Elle die.  The card front is covered with burlap paper from a DCWV stack of woven papers.  Great texture and one more 'country'-looking element.

I'm going to use this as a Thanksgiving card this year.

     Challenges:

Don't forget to find something 'Corny' in your own collection and come enter a card into our challenge.  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

Purr-fect!

It's time for another challenge at Crafty Catz, where our theme is always Anything Goes but we also offer you an OPTIONAL theme, if you want to use it.  Our option this week is "Hot Colors" and all I have to do is look out the window of my craft room and I can see heat and hot colors far beyond anything I care to see!

When is this heat wave going to end?  We're on day 14 in a row of being over 100 F and the 'good' news from the weatherman this morning was we may stay at 100 F today instead of going above it.  I suppose that's better than 110 but once it reaches 100, it pretty much all feels the same.  And the heat wave doesn't officially end until we have 2 days in a row of  99 F or below.  Yuck!

Ok, information about my card - since we don't have a sponsor this week, we could use whatever we wanted on our DT projects.  I chose a cute image from Eureka Stamps called "Big and Little Cat" and a sentiment from QKR Stampede called "You're Purrfect."

I used Sanjoki markers to color the cat image and then fussy cut it with scissors. That image is mounted on dimensional dots.  I printed, colored (polychromos pencils), and cut the sentiment with a Die-namics die.  I found some lovely fiber paper for the background (DCWV), giving great texture to the entire design.

I used colors from CRAFTalnica.

     Challenges:

Come play with us this week.  It's our last challenge before we take a summer break throughout the month of August.  We'll be  back on the first Friday of September and I hope to be able to tell you that things have cooled down some.  :-D  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie
