Mixed Media: Angels are Near Layout

Hi all!, Katie here
I am up on the blog with a new mixed media layout to share. They say that if you find feathers in an unexpected place then it is your Guardian Angel trying to get your attention.I wanted to create a layout that was like a journal page so i sorted out a photo that was more suited for this style of project.

I used

I started off the page by applying DecoArt Media White Crackle Paint over the page using the DecoArt Americana Distressed Harlequin Stencil. I dabbed Chocolate ink over the top and then inked up the In Circle Me background stamp and stamped it around the edges and corners of the page.

I added paper layers which i cut out of the Dovecraft Value Range Vintage Rose pad. I used die-cuts and punches to create the shaped edges and layered them up with 3d Foam Tape.

I used the little heart stamp from the Bunny Hugs Stamp Set to decorate the mini banner. I then used the little star and stamped that around the page.

Use alphabet stamps to create long journal style titles

I finished the layout off with white feathers and embellishments.

Mixed Media Scrapbook Page: Grumpy Chick

Hi all
It's Katie here with another design team  post for the blog.
I have a mixed media layout to share using the A Little Bit Washi stamp set, it's one of my favourites so I've had a good play with them. The theme of this month is exploring our backyard which over the summer had a few little visitors. I went into the shed to find a robin's nest wedged onto one of the shelves so I snapped a few pictures as it is wonderful to be so close to nature.

I love this stamp set because not only does it produce clean images that will stick to anything, The textures are brilliant and are versatile enough to use on any project.

For the base I used the Color Bust 12 x 12 sheet by Susan K Weckesser and I used a layer of texture paste before spritzing the background  with Inks In A Bottle Brazil Nut, Pumpkin and French Lavender to get an Earthy colour, I then took the Doodle Stencil and used white texture paste to create a few rows of flowers. I added some to the layers as well

I loved stamping over this canvas bunting by Prima which the Susan K Weckesser stamps work well with. Again I stuck with Earthy Autumn colours and used Colour Chemistry ink pads Spring Green, Golden Yellow and Fire Brick. I then threaded twine through the bunting and glued it all down.

For the flower I used plain cream card and stamped over the petals using the A Little Bit Washi stamp set and then I coloured in the circles with gold accents.

I called him grumpy chick after a friend pointed out his moody little face.

The stitching pattern is from the Grunge Fun stamp set which i stamped across the page along side the A Little Bit Washi stamps.

My Child's Garden of Verses

Hello!!  Susie here today sharing a flower-filled scrapbook layout using the bright and whimsical papers from the Live In Color collection designed by Susan K. Weckesser.
Not long ago, I  thumbed through a copy of  A Child's Garden of Verses by Robert Louis Stevenson.  The title inspired me to scrap this spring school photo in a garden filled with flowers...and advice!  I used some of my favorite quote stamps and black Archival Ink.
The sentiments - stamped in crisp black ink - really pop off of the background created by the brightly colored  blooms.
I highlighted the black dots on this large flower with black rhinestones from Want2Scrap.
The butterflies on the layout are also from Want2Scrap.  After I adhered them to the page, I painted inside the sections of the wings.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find some time to play today!

Life is a beautiful thing

Hi! I'm Valerie Reyes.  I'm so excited to be here as a guest designer for April.  Susan's artwork is so lovely, it makes me smile just to look at.  It was 3 AM when I walked in my front door from a road trip to see my design team box. I did take a few minutes to get the kids in from the car and into bed before I opened my box, but not a moment longer.

It was a true act of self control not to start working before I finished my haul video (you can find it on my YouTube channel). I went to sleep dreaming about two patterned papers in particular: Live, Love, Create and Beautiful Daydreams.

I knew that charming green house belonged in the sunny afternoon, so I started there.  After cutting out the house, I popped it up on dimensional adhesive using the Beautiful Daydreams patterned paper as a background. I used Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink to add definition to some of the details in the background paper: stems of flowers, rays of the sun, edges of clouds. The next thing to go down was the stamped sentiment, "Let your heart sing." from the Sing Your Song stamp set.

Then, I wasn't quite sure what to do.  I knew that I wanted it to be either wall art or a title page for one of my scrapbooks, so I googled the phrase, "Let your heart sing."  and came up with a song by Katharine McPhee. I filled in the white space with stamps from Little Yellow Bicycle's Love Letters Collection. Here is the final page.

If you're interested you can watch this video of my whole process.

Thank you so much for stopping by and a special thank you to Susan K. Weckesser, Inc. for giving me the opportunity to guest design here.
