Uniko - Let's Have Some FLIPPIN' Seasonal Fun - Release Day, Brand Ambassador Blog Hop & GIVEAWAY

Good morning and Happy Card Making Day!

What a way to mark the end of the FLIPPIN' week....it's World Card Making Day AND it's release day over at Uniko.  The two new Ink & Flip Layering stencils are now available.

I made another card using the new Ink & Flip Layering Cobweb stencil and paired it with the cat from the Mid Century Modern Purrfect Day stamp set, and a couple of elements from other brands...

For the cobweb this time, I used ink through the first side then, once flipped, I used some glimmer paste.  Be sure to clean off your stencil straight away if using pastes, they dry quickly!  Once dry, I stamped the cat, the sentiment and the spider in black ink and then added the spider's thread using a silver pen.  These spiders are far too small for this design but it's all I had in my stash and my drawing skills are zero! :D

Materials used:
  • Stencil: Uniko - Ink & Flip Layering Cobweb
  • Stamps: Uniko - Mid Century Modern Purrfect Day; Clearly Besotted - Simple Script; Card-io - Field Day
  • Ink: Versa Magic - Oasis Green; Versafine Clair - Nocturne
  • Paste: Nuvo Glimmer Paste - Moonstone
  • Accents: Uniball Signo pen - Silver

So, let's now take a look at the two additions to the Ink & Flip stencil series in full.

Ink & Flip Layering Cobweb...

Uniko October 2023 Release in Review, Brand Ambassador Blog Hop & Giveaway

Happy Saturday!

Over at Uniko today we have a Release in Review post for the new October 2023 products.  It took a while for the goodies to reach the Design Team so we weren't able to make inspiration projects in time for the introductions at the start of the month.

Bev is holding another blog hop and giveaway, so if you hop along and comment on all the Brand Ambassadors' posts (links over on the main post) you are in with a chance of winning a £20 eGift Card.

Ok, I'll get straight to it with my projects.

For this card I paired some of the new goodies with the Natures Treasures II Stencil...

I wanted to stamp some of the small leaf images inside the leaf stencil so I used a tool for this card that I've not used for years...my light box!!  To make it easier to stamp within the stencil I began by taping the stencil to the panel and then using an embossing tool from the back of the panel to trace around the shape, thereby pushing the cardstock forward so it was raised on the front and more in line with the edges of the stencil.  I grabbed one of my blending brushes and used the residual green ink from one of my previous projects to create the pale green background, and then proceeded to stamp the small leaf images from the new Autumn Serenade Clear Stamp Set.  The 'thanks' is also from this set and the 'for all you do' is from the new Big & Bold - Thank/s/ful Clear Stamp Set.

Materials used:
  • Stamps: Uniko - Autumn Serenade, Big & Bold Thank/s/ful
  • Stencil: Uniko - Natures Treasures II
  • Ink: Altenew - Autumn Blaze, Olive, Mocha, Sea Forest, Marshland; Versafine Clair - Fallen Leaves
  • Die: Create a Smile - Cool Cuts Scalloped Resctangles

Next up is a card using the beautiful Remembrance Clear Stamp set...

The poppy images in this set are just beautiful as they are so I just kept this card super simple.  Just stamped and coloured with Copics.  I chose to go with a blush pink for the petals, I think the pink and peach varieties are stunning.

Materials used:

  • Stamps: Uniko - Remembrance
  • Ink: Memento - Tuxedo Black; Versafine Clair - Nocturne; VersaMagic - Pink Grapefruit
  • Coloured with Copic Markers
  • Die: Create a Smile - Cool Cuts Double Stitched Rectangles

Next up is the new addition to the Big & Bold series...Big & Bold Thank/s/ful

I began by stamping the wreath from the Rustic Wreath Clear Stamp set, also stamped the berries, and then the tiny leaf from the Autumn Serenade Clear Stamp set.  I stamped the 'thank' and the 's', first in grey ink for a slight shadow, then shifted my card slightly before stamping in black.

Materials used:
  • Stamps: Uniko - Big & Bold Thank/s/ful, Rustic Wreath, Autumn Serenade
  • Ink: Altenew - Forest Glades, Moss, Crimson, Silver Lake; Versafine Clair - Nocturne

And finally, I have two cards using the Framed: Snowflakes Clear Stamp set...

I began using one of the trees from the Christmas Pop Trio Stencil and ink blended using Cracked Pistachio Distress ink.  I then used just a section of the large stamp from the Framed Snowflakes set to stamp the background within the stencil.  I completed the card with a sentiment from the Pattern Building Christmas Tree Clear Stamp set and added some gems and a star from my stash.

Materials used:
  • Stamps: Uniko - Framed Snowflakes, Pattern Building Christmas Tree
  • Stencil: Uniko - Christmas Pop Trio
  • Ink: Distress Ink - Cracked Pistachio; Altenew - Hydrangea; Versafine Clair - Nocturne
  • Die: Create a Smile - Cool Cuts Scalloped Rectangles

And I used the Framed Snowflakes again here, paired with a sentiment from the Stunning Snowflakes Clear Stamp Set...

Revisiting an old design layout here.  I used low tack masking tape to create the horizontal mask.  I ink blended using Saltwater Taffy Distress Oxide ink, blending it out in both directions.  I then used the individual snowflakes that come with the Framed Snowflakes stamp set and inked these along the edges of the mask in various colours of pigment ink.  I removed the mask and added a sentiment from the Stunning Snowflakes set and finished with some silver glitter snowflake gems, sparkle was required!

Materials used:
  • Stamps: Uniko - Framed Snowflakes, Stunning Snowflakes
  • Ink: Distress Oxide - Saltwater Taffy, Versa Color - Mint, Lagoon Blue, Altantic, Peony, Petal Pink; Versafine Clair - Nocturne
  • Gems from stash

I hope you enjoy taking a look at all the inspiration from the team, and if you're in the UK, enjoy the extra hour in bed tomorrow!

Less is More Challenge #410

Hello

I'm back today to introduce the first of this year's challenges at Less is More.  We're continuing with our sequence of challenges and this time we're back with a Colour challenge.  Here are the details...

It's an 'out with the old, in with the new' challenge.
Living Coral was the Pantone colour for 2019, and True Blue is the Pantone colour for 2020.
(The colours are detailed over on the main Less is More challenge post)

And for the month of January we have the fabulous Skull and Cross Buns back as our sponsor.  So just by playing along in this month's challenges will mean you're in with a chance of winning our monthly prize!

Here goes, and I'll admit, I did struggle with this colour combo.  But I did get a couple of sample cards made for you.  Here's the first...

This was very simple to make.  I crossed over two strips of washi tape on the card base, topped with a trellis die cut and then overlaid with a flower die cut.  I didn't like how the trellis showed through the flower head so I die cut it again from some textured coral cardstock and inlaid the inner parts of the flower head, securing on the reverse, before adhering the flower in place.  I stamped a simple sentiment vertically as I think it nestled along the edge quite nicely.

Materials used:
  • Dies: Clearly Besotted - Trellis Die; Wplus9 - Flower Doodles
  • Stamp: Clearly Besotted - Tiny Type
  • Ink: Versafine - Onyx Black
  • Washi tape from stash

And for this next make I used stamps by our Sponsor, Skull and Cross Buns...

Not the best photos of this card I'm afraid, for some reason my camera was having an off day!

I used a stitched rectangle die to create my top panel then stamped the bunting and confetti in blue and coral inks.  I stamped the sentiment in blue to balance out the design the popped the panel onto the card base using fun foam.  As a finishing touch I added some smooth silver gems amongst the confetti.  Not my go to colours for this type of card but I think it's turned out quite gender neutral here.

Materials used:

  • Stamps: Skull and Cross Buns - Modern Wedding; Celebrate Script
  • Ink: Altenew - Starlight; Versa Magic - Pink Grapefruit
  • Die: Create a Smile - Cool Cuts Double Stitched Rectangles
  • Accents: Smooth silver gems from stash

Challenge entries:

AAA Cards - CAS Game #155 - Along the Edge

The challenge linky will stay open for the next fortnight so why not have a go with this colour combo, you never know what might materialise.  I struggled then ended up with two cards :)

Skull and Cross Buns - Hochanda Showcase Selection 3

Hi guys

I'm back today to share a few more of the samples I've made for Skull and Cross Buns ahead of the show on Hochanda here in the UK tomorrow, Thursday 5 September at 4pm.

I'll get straight to it.  Here's the first...

On a die cut panel of kraft cardstock I used the Hundreds and Thousands Confetti Large Stencil and created the shadow effects, first by inking through with Distress Inks and then by shifting the stencil slightly and inking a second time with white pigment ink. The panel was popped up onto the card base using fun foam.  I then die cut one circle from vellum and another from pink cardstock and heat embossed the sentiment in white and silver from the Retro Sweeties clear stamp set.  A couple of the cute acrylic sweets from the Retro Sweets Embellish! set were added to finish.  Love the detailed etching on these.

Materials used:
  • Dies: Create a Smile - Double Stitched Rectangles; Hero Arts - Infinity Circles
  • Stencil: Skull and Cross Buns - Hundreds and Thousands Confetti Large Stencil
  • Ink: Distress Ink - Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet, Mermaid Lagoon; Versa Magic - White Cloud; VersaMark
  • Embossing Powder: Wow! - Opaque Bright White, Metallic Silver

Challenge entry:

Addicted to Stamps and More - Challenge #357 - Make Your Mark

Next up is a card which may look familiar as I made a very similar one in a different colourway, here...

Instead of the standard natural colours of leapard print I used the Leopard Animal Print Large Stencil here blended with pink in onto pink cardstock.  I die cut the cardstock with a large balloon die and adhered this on 3D foam to the corner of the card and tied some pink twine around the base.  Directly on the card base I stamped the 'happy birthday' from the Quirky Sentiments set, 'party' from the Tropical Party set and the individually coloured letters from the Lightbox Love set.

Materials used:
  • Stencil: Skull and Cross Buns - Leopard Animal Print Large Stencil
  • Die: MFT Die-namics - Blueprints 26
  • Stamps: Skull and Cross Buns - Quirky Sentiments, Tropical Party, Lightbox Love
  • Ink: Distress Ink - Picked Raspberry, Worn Lipstick; Versa Color - Orchid, Opera Pink, Pink; Versafine - Onyx Black
  • Twine: Hemptique - Ruby mix

Challenge entry:

AAA Birthday - Game #5 - Use a Stencil

Last up is a really simple make...

I die cut a panel of lilac cardstock using a stitched rectangle die and inked through the Cloud Rainbow Pattern Stencil using white pigment ink.  Once dry I adhered the two closed eye eyelashes from the I Believe In Unicorns Embellish set.  I stamped the cloud from the Planner Banners set and within it stamped 'dream' from the I Believe In Unicorns set, fussy cut this out and then stamped two of the thought bubbles from the I Believe in Unicorns set and coloured these in with a white pigment pen.

Materials used:
  • Stencil: Skull and Cross Buns - Cloud Rainbow Pattern Large Stencil
  • Ink: Versa Magic - Cloud White; Versafine - Onyx Black
  • Die: Create a Smile - Double Stitched Rectangles
  • Stamps: Skull and Cross Buns - I Believe in Unicorns, Planner Banners
  • Accents: Skull and Cross Buns - I Believe in Unicorns Embellish! set

Thanks so much for stopping by to take a look, I'll be back with my final selection later.
