Weekly Garden Checklist ...

Good Morning!
It's time again for my Weekly Garden Checklist, let's get started!

1.Harvest- If like me you are growing Cucumber plants you will have noticed that they have started producing cucumbers. I was able to harvest my first one yesterday morning and I'd advise you also start doing the same before they get too big so that the plant can focus it's energy on the rest.

2. Salads - Keep up with sowing your seeds for Salads. It's a good idea to sow them every 2 - 3 weeks to make sure that you have a steady supply. I like to start my Lettuce's off in trays in the Greenhouse before planting out into my Raised Bed however Radishes are sown straight where they are grow.

3. Roses - Keep up with the deadheading, the blooms can fade quickly and just like I mentioned earlier the plant can focus all it's energy on the up coming blooms once they've been snipped off. Plus it also looks much nicer!

Thanks for stopping by, don't forget you can find all the previous Checklists on the page tab above.

Absolutely No Willpower ...

Good Morning!
I took a trip to a couple of Garden Centre's on Friday and surprise surprise I couldn't walk away empty handed! So today I thought I'd share with you what I bought.

First up are the Primula's, at 60p a pot they were more than tempting. As you can see I bought 2 Primula Denticulata in White & Pale Lilac, along with 2 Cowslips in a Red /Yellow and
Lime / Yellow colouring.

I've been tempted to buy a Ribes for a while now, another Plant that was just on the Wishlist, until now. All I need to do is find a home for it! You can also spot the Orange Dahlia I picked up at the same time sitting alongside it.

The Tomatoes for this year have been bought and paid for, along with a Cucumber & Chilli plant. I also need to sow the Tomato 'Golden Sunrise' which is a lovely yellow one that I grew last year. I've left it rather late though!

Here are the Begonia's, Fuchsia's and Diascia plants I bought to go in some Hanging Baskets along with Nepeta, Surfinia's and Trailing Fuchsia's.

Finally temptation got the better of me and I decided to build up my Pelargonium collection!

Which should go nicely in the following pots ...

As you can see I am going to be rather busy!

Weekly Garden Checklist ...

Good Morning!
It's Monday so it is time for another Weekly Garden Checklist, let's get started!

1. Cut Back Pansies - If your Pansy plants are looking a bit straggly now is the time to give them a good cut back to encourage a second flush of flowers.

2. Plant Autumn Flowering Bulbs - Now is the time to plant bulbs for Autumn such as Nerines & Colchicums.

3. Keep Watering Tomatoes - With all the hot weather it is crucial you keep an eye on your tomatoes, make sure they don't dry out especially if they are grown in pots, to prevent blossom end rot.

4. Pick Peppers & Cucumbers - These plants should be supplying good sized fruits so now is the time to start harvesting which also encourages new growth.

5. Enjoy the Garden - I know it should go without saying but with the Sunny weather and flowers in full flow now is the time to sit back and enjoy all of your hard work!

Thanks for stopping by,
HAPPY GROWING!

Under Glass ...

Good Morning!
There's still a few things in the Greenhouse so today I thought I would share with you exactly what they are!
Yes there is in fact still some seedlings in there, not many though. Just a few Calendula, Diascia & Coleus waiting to be planted up into pots when they're a bit bigger. The Cucamelon seeds have also germinated.

There are some 'Sweet Sultans' seedlings which will be be planted in pots where the Alliums around the Raised Bed currently are. Of course they won't be as tall but at 60cm with powdery puff blooms they will still make a nice feature.

I also have a few Marigolds which will be dotted around the Greenhouse and in the Raised Bed to help deter pests. Along with this tub of Nasturtiums which is trailing down some staging next to my TomTato's.
