Hello everyone !
I have a design today using images from Designs from Ryn. My last post for Ryn featured a card with her Maple Leaf in the background and this time I've used her Elm Leaf. Ryn's leaf designs are great for creating texture in backgrounds, you can find them in her Flora section. I know pink leaves are odd, but this is fantasy right?
Using the Acrylic Block Technique I added Picked Raspberry, Barn Door and Seedless Preserves Distress Inks to the background. I was inspired to use this colour combo from designs in one of Miranda's Art Specialty books.
I stamped Elm Leaf with Imperial Purple Versafine ink and then stamped Sea Bubbles with Moonlight Brilliance and then the Purple Versafine over the background. Sea Bubbles is another favorite image to use on backgrounds. I spritzed an area on the background with water and blotted with paper towel to lighten it up so that I could stamp the sentiment. 'Friends' is by Inkadinkado.
I painted African Daisy with all three Distress Inks (add ink direct from the pad to craft mat and use a brush with water), then decoupaged and covered it with Stardust Stickles. I love the textured centre of this African Daisy image but for a change I added a large pearl brad. I stamped the leaf a few times, added a little Picked Raspberry Ink and cut the texture around it off to create the petals for the flower.
Here is a look at the Elm Leaf image:
Thanks for stopping by & have a great weekend,
Shirley

Let it Snow !
Hello everyone, I hope you are having a great week and NO I don't want it to snow ..... Not yet ! I was raking leaves again today, it's sunny & above seasonal, beautiful. I would like to wish our friends south of the border a very Happy Thanksgiving & Happy Shopping tomorrow !
I created this Christmas card a while ago using a cute snowman stamp from Inkadinkado. I think this image would make a great Clean & Simple one layer card as well. I also used one of my favourite Cover a Card stamps from Impression Obsession to create the background.
Stamps:
Inkadinkado - 99462 Snowman "Let it Snow"
Impression Obsession - CC035 Cover a Card Snowflakes
I started by using the large Snowflake CAC and embossed with white. I blended Aged Mahogany & Broken China Distress Inks over the background.
The snowman was embossed with silver. I stamped & embossed the hat twice and cut it out to pop it up. I blended broken china around the snowman, painted the hat with a red Tombow, added red stickles and holograph glitter.
I layered with red & a rich royal cardstock as shown (that was in my stash and I can't seem to find anywhere), added a rich blue bow & red half pearls. The centre red piece was embossed with the Snowflake Cuttlebug embossing folder, hard to see in the photo.
Thanks for your visit and I hope we don't see snow until Christmas :)
Have a great day, Shirley

All you need is Love
Good Afternoon ! My husband & I were away in Scotland for the past week to help celebrate one of his Aunt's & Uncle's 60th (Diamond) Wedding Anniversary. We had such a great time visiting with everyone and touring around the beautiful country. Jim's family were so kind to us, we were well looked after. We arrived back home today, so I'm quite jet-lagged. I'm behind in blogging but thought I would post the card that I created for the happy couple.
I picked up heart shaped dies after hand drawing hearts and cutting them out for Valentines cards. This was the first time trying them out. I intended to create a card that was mainly white with a bit of pastel but somehow deep purple crept in. And once again I used my new Crealie Dies to add flowers with the heart.
I created the background with Impression Obsession's Cover a Card Tapestry CC025. I stamped it with Versa Mark and embossed with White and blended Tattered Rose, Milled Lavender and a little Dusty Concord Distress Inks over the embossing.
The sentiment is from Inkadinkado's Love and Friendship Set 99644. 'All you need is Love' was stamped with Color Box Boysenberry Pigment Ink and embossed with Clear on the inner heart. I blended the same Distress Inks over the heart and the white cardstock used for some of the flowers. I added lots of clear rhinestones for the "Diamonds" and tiny little stickers with the happy couple's initials. I also added a tiny 60 below the sentiment, but did that after I took the photo !
Dies used: Crealies: CL CF 17 flowers & CL CS 11 shapes. Nellie's Multi frames - MFD 022 (hearts).
That's all for now. Thanks for stopping in and have a great day !

Organic Fabric Flourish
Hello !
I finally got a clear stamp set out that my special Aunt (Tante) Saakje gave me when she was visiting last June. Shame on me for taking so long to use it, as I love the images ! This set is by Inkadinkado - 99533 Organic Fabric Flourish..... interesting name. There are lots of florals & paisleys designs - I'll post a photo below so you can see what I'm talking about. I created a card using some of the stamps. Once again my photo is not showing the true colours. I used a fuchsia mat, but it looks red, maybe because I placed pink card stock behind it.
For this background I blended tattered rose & tumbled glass Distress Inks on white card stock and then used blue & purple glimmer mists. I used the largest flourish in the set and stamped with Versa Mark ink, embossed with clear. Over that, I stamped with Silver Brilliance Ink. Hard to see in the photo.
The flower & little flourishes were stamped & embossed with silver on watercolour paper and painted with Tom bow markers: 555, 673 & 676 and water. I stamped a 2nd flower and used a portion of it to 3D the image. All the designs were cut out and arranged as the photo shows. The sentiment is by Kaisercraft - Life sentiments (a nice set). Navy ribbon & rhinestones are the final touches !

Happy Birthday Jeanette !
Good evening ! I made this card for my friend Jeanette who celebrated her birthday this week ! Jeanette is a talented crafter who has been so kind and generous to host a group of us almost weekly at her place. It's such a relaxing atmosphere and wonderful time to work on stitching, knitting or cards and to share ideas and stories with each other. Thank you Jeanette for all the fun & inspiration ! We hope you had a great Birthday!
The background on this card was created with an IO Cover a Card stamp. I have quite a few of these background stamps, you can do so much with them ! I stamped the flourishes with Versa Mark ink and embossed with clear on brown card stock.
I stamped and embossed the gift and bow twice with copper powder onto white smooth card stock. I coloured in the first image with Broken China Distress Ink and added Smooch Ink to highlight the circles.
On the 2nd image I coloured just the ribbon & bow with Tea dye Distress Ink. Once again I added Mica Colour Interference paint for the shimmer ! I cut out the ribbon and bow and popped them up a bit over the package.
I used my Cuttlebug and a die from Nellies' Frames to cut out the square which was adhered behind the gift. Blue ribbon, Happy Birthday and some bling were the final touches !
Stamps used: Impression Obsession Cover a Card - Flourishes CC027, The Artful Stamper - Present and Bow 1264P and the sentiment is from a Inkadinkado - Personal Impressions - 96614
