gorgeous gardens

Happy Thursday crafty friends.  Linda has picked our Seize the Birthday topping for this week and she wants us to make a spring garden. I decided to go big & bold with my flowers.  I'm really happy with how the green background makes the pink & orange flowers pop.

Be sure to head over to the blog to see the glorious creations from our Surprise Party Guest Jennie M, previous winner Bonnie, and the rest of the design team.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a terrific day and a wonderful upcoming weekend.

terrific tags

Happy Thursday crafty friends. Jules has picked our Seize the Birthday topping for this week and she wants us to use a tag. I just wanted to use a bunch of fun little bits ... and this is what I came up with.  The card base looked a little bare so added a splotchy stamp with Versamark ink.  I seem to have trouble putting a tag on a card that is straight up and down... always has to be at an angle.  lol.

Be sure to head over to the blog to give some crafty love to our Surprise Party Guest Jennie M, previous winner Leslie Miller, and the rest of the design team.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a terrific day and a wonderful upcoming weekend.

wonderful wings

Thanks again to all of those who play along with my CAS+dies topping last time at Seize the Birthday.  It was a wonderful gallery!

Sticking to a CAS mode again this week for Jenny's anything with wings challenge.  I love travelling so 'wings' always makes me think of flying, hence the airplane! I used some patterned paper for the background and just coloured in the hearts. Edged the white panel with some of the blue ink just to make it stand out a bit better.  Figure this sentiment would suit well for a birthday... what do you think?

Hope you can play along with us! Be sure to check the blog to see what our Surprise Party Guest, Helen, previous winner, and the rest of the design team came up with! This is Helen's last week with us - thank you so much Helen for your wonderful creations!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Always appreciate the comments,

sparkly snowflakes

Happy 2026 craft friends!  I'm a bit late joining the team for Seize the Birthday this week... hopefully that's not how the rest of my year is going to go!

Barbara has chosen the topping "make your own snowflake background" for us.  I'm happy to say that I haven't seen a significant amount of snowflakes around here this year yet! Fingers crossed snowflakes stay in the background here.  I went CAS with my card this week - just some snowflake dies with sparkly paper and a simple sentiment. This is definitely one of those cards that looks better in person than in the photo!

Hope you can join us! Please check out the blog to see what the rest of the team came up with and give a welcome to our new Surprise Party Guest Helen and previous winner Stephanie.

Wishing you all the best for 2026!
Thanks for stopping by,

extraordinary embossing

It's September... so hard to believe! I'm not ready to let go of summer yet so I'll be wearing my sandals and skirts for as long as I can ... I'm laughing because it is a running joke here in Canada that we talk about the weather A LOT!

This week Jenny has picked embossing for the Seize the Birthday topping. It may be hard to see but I've used a Swiss dots embossing folder for the sections on this.  I got this fabulous die set recently and it was the best way I could figure out to incorporate embossing.

Hope you can join us for this fun challenge! Be sure to hop over to the blog to see the other excellent creations by the rest of the team and welcome our new Surprise Party Guest, Johanna Rundell, and previous winner Rachel.

Always so grateful for the comments.  Thanks so much for stopping by.

14 August 2025

flower free

Happy Thursday crafty friends.  So hard to believe it's mid August!  Where is my summer going?!?! I'm a such a summer person - it's my birthday time, I love the warm weather & being outside, I love cold drinks on the patio and fresh produce.

Jules has picked no flowers as our topping at Seize the Birthday. I love this topping as I'm a guilty as the next person at defaulting to flowers... but it's really not that hard not to use flowers.  I chose a to do a CAS card with some rich colours and using a new stencil.  This stencil reminds me of RADAR, so using the 'sending' sentiment was appropriate because it makes me think of transmitting wishes, like RADAR transmits radio waves. OMG - I'm such a nerd. Sending this off to a special person, along with a book, for their birthday next week.

Be sure to check out the blog for the fantastic creations from the design team and our Surprise Party Guest Karen Letchworth and previous winner Cassandra. Hope you can play along with us - using the topping isn't mandatory but we love it when you do.

grey & pink

I'm not usually a pink person (which most people know) but I have a new to me die set that suits pink really well. So using it for the latest Colour Hues challenge was no brainer. I found some scraps of pink paper that all went together so pretty happy with how this turned out.

Thanks to Carol for getting me out of my comfort zone by using pink.

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by,

more red & white

I love the current Colour Hues challenge so much that I've made another one! I also haven't used this new Spellbinders die set very much so thought I would use it for this CAS card. Really quick and easy but I love how it turned out.

Wishing you a fabulous Friday and a wonderful weekend ahead.

birthday cheers

Welcome to July crafty friends! It's summer here which means you'll frequently find me outside with some delicious food and cold beverages.  So at Seize the Birthday this week, I've chosen food &/or drink for the topping.  No surprise that I've "poured" myself a martini for this card.  I have so many cocktail stamps and dies so thought I would make use of them. It's a little hard to see but I used an embossing folder on the martini class.

Wanted to extend a warm welcome to our new Surprise Party Guest Karen Letchworth, and our previous winner Julia Aston. Be sure to see the rest of the delicious and refreshing creations over at the blog. Hope you can play along with us - using the topping isn't mandatory but we love it when you do.

fancy folds

Welcome to June crafty friends!  Hope all is well in your world.

Barbara has challenged us to make a fancy fold card this week at Seize the Birthday.  Full confession - this is the third card I made for this challenge (I photographed both of the others and decided that they were just meh). I ended up being happy with this vertical easel card. This is a great 'bang for your buck' card and the tutorial for it is here.

Be sure to head over to the blog to check out the fabulous creations from the rest of the team, our terrific Surprise Party Guest Wanda and previous winner Chris. Hope you can play along with us - using the topping isn't mandatory but we love it when you do.

I'm also entering this in to the latest colour challenge at our sister challenge Color Hues. I really love this colour combo (and just as an FYI - coral is different than pink ;) ).

fabulous frames

Welcome crafty friends! Ashwini is hosting this week and has chosen frames as the topping for us this week at Seize the Birthday. I thought these underwater tunnel dies from Spellbinders would make a perfect frame. This card was also a great way to use up a bunch of scraps for the coral, fish & seagrass.

Be sure to head over to the blog to check out the fantastic creations from the rest of the team, our terrific Surprise Party Guest Wanda and previous winner, the wonderful Carol! Hope you can play along with us - using the topping isn't mandatory but we love it when you do.

stunning stencils

Hey crafty friends!  So hard to believe that it's getting towards the end of April.  Spring has arrived here on the west coast of Canada... I'm just hoping it sticks around.  Gotta' hate 'fake spring' - lol!

Shirley has picked stencils as the topping for us this week at Seize the Birthday.  I used a new-to-me stencil from Lavinia (with 2 different white inks) and also a new-to-me Spellbinders foil plate (shout out to my local-ish craft store - Crafty Capers - where a purchased these). Confession: I made a card for this challenge back in January but looked at it earlier this week and thought "uh nope". Haha. I'm not sure if this counts as 'bokeh'? Oh well, even if not, pretty happy with how this turned out.

Be sure to head over to the blog to check out the stunning creations from the rest of the team, our Surprise Party Guest Leslie and previous winner Claire! Hope you can play along with us - using the topping isn't mandatory but I think the "challenge-chooser" gets an extra warm fuzzy when you do (I know I do!).

big birthday

Happy crafty Thursday friends! Jenny has picked 'milestone birthday' for our Seize the Birthday challenge this week. I have a set of chipboard map letters/numbers that I thought would be fun to use for this card. I tend to hoard collect travel themed stuff so found some map paper to layer in behind. I have friends everywhere from 30 to 70+ so picked the middle - figuring that someone's 50th birthday would likely come up eventually - lol.

Be sure to check out the blog to gift some crafty love to the rest of the design team, our Surprise Party Guest, Leslie, and previous winner, Renate.
