Edited: i've always associated this song with the long journey around the Cape (south-Africa)... today I've learned it's all about pirates. Never paid enough attention to the text I guess... Kaap'ren (cape) and kaper (pirate) just sounds the same to me. Learn something everyday ;P

Boek nr.23 is een zogenaamde 'Secret Belgian Binding' (werkwijze: klik), ook weer een die al een jaartje op mijn lijst stond. ***aangepast***: De naam is bedacht door Hedi Kyle  zij heeft deze, waarschijnlijk 13-14de eeuwse, binding herontdekt en uitgewerkt.  Deze binding is bedacht en ontwikkeld in de jaren 80 door de Belgische boekbindster Anne Goy, haar naam voor de binding: 'criss cross binding'. Hedi Kyle is wel degene (voor zover ik weet) die er bekendheid aan heeft gegeven en ***einde aanvulling***  
Hedi Kyle is degene die in 1979 het beroemde 'vlagboek' heeft bedacht. Als je dat prachtige eerste vlagboek wilt zien: klik hier

Het heeft een paar ronden gekost, maar ik heb uiteindelijk gewonnen van die warboel van vrijdag. Hà!

Plastic omslag gemaakt van de plastic zakken die in de kast lagen te slingeren. Ik denk dat plastic samenstrijken niet erg best voor m'n gezondheid is en al helemaal niet best voor het milieu... maar ik moest het toch een keertje uitproberen...
Plastic cover from plastic bags stashed in the closet. I think this fusing of plastic bags isn't very good for my health and certainly not good for the environment... but I had to give it a try anyhow...

Ook iets wat ik al heel lang wlde maken is een dos-a-dos. Twee in een als het ware. Het naaiwerk is gedaan met mijn favoriete steek van de laatste tijd voor een-katernboekjes. De pagina's zijn van hergebruikt papier. Hier en daar zie je dat er wat op staat. J kunt op de collage klikken voor een beter zicht.
Something i wanted to make since forever is a dos-a-dos. Two books in one to say so. The sewing is done with my favorite stitch of the moment for one-section books. Pages are made from re-used paper. On some photos you can see the print. Pleas click on the collage for an enlargment.

Wat gedachten over dit project. Bij het smelten van het plastic komen er echt kwalijke dampen vrij, de opdruk zorgt ook niet voor een betere lucht (het zit nog in m'n neus). Ik kan me voorstellen dat het totaal niet gezond is en dat ons milieu uiteindelijk beter af is als die zakken opgebruikt worden en dan pas de vuilnisbak in of naar een recycle station. Nog beter is natuurlijk gewoon een tas meenemen naar de winkel. Dat doe ik eigenlijk altijd en toch is het huis vol met plastic zakken... Het overkomt me gewoon...
Some thoughts on this project. Fusing plastic bags causes bad fumes and I can imagine this isn't very good for your health and the environment. In the end it will be better when we just use those bags till they are worn out completely and than send them to a recycle place. A better way is, of course, not using plastic bags at all. I always try to take a shopping bag with me and end up with plastic bags cluttered in the house eventhough... It just happens...

Een P.S. Ik heb m'n feedburner naar mijn google-account verhuisd en heb toen het feed-adres aangepast. Als je dit blog via de feeds leest is het misschien nodig dat adres opnieuw in te stellen in je reader.
*lol* het voelt een beetje raar dat hier te melden. Als je de feed ontvangt is alles oké, als je de feed niet ontvangt... tjaa dan lees je nu ook niet dat je het adres moet veranderen...
Hoe dan ook, aan mogelijke feed-lezers: vernieuw het adres als je m'n blog via de feeds wilt blijven lezen :D Zou iemand me kunnen laten weten of de feed werkt? Alvast bedankt.

Het is gek, je verwacht dat je het papier voor je ogen ziet vergaan, maar blijkbaar is daar toch wat meer tijd voor nodig...
Weird, I expected to see the paper decay in no time, but apparently it needs some more weather to do so...

Ondertussen is de lente losgebarsten in de tuin. De narcissen en het longkruid bloeien. De puttertjes maken zich op voor het broedseizoen en dat pakketje... ik wacht af...
In the meantime spring is starting to appear in the garden. Daffodils and lungworts are blooming. Goldfinches are preparing for breeding season and that little bundle... I'll wait...
