Het vijfde en laatste jaar van dit wereldwijde blogevenement en voor mij de eerste keer dat ik mee doe... Omdat mijn hart helemaal bij het boekbinden ligt geef ik een van mijn boeken weg die ik maakte in m'n '50 boeken' serie. Sommige daarvan zal ik nooit wegdoen, gewoon omdat ze niet goed genoeg gemaakt zijn. En met sommige wegdoen heb ik moeite omdat ik er op een of andere manier aan gehecht ben geraakt. Door de binding die ik voor het eerst maakte, door een bijzonder materiaal dat ik gebruikte, doordat het boek lekker aanvoelt. Dit boek heeft dat allemaal en het ligt in een doos te smeken om daglicht, dan is OWOH toch de ultieme gelegenheid om het een goed huis te geven ☺ 
The fifth and final year of this worldwide blog event and finally I'm in... My heart is totally in bookbinding so the only thing that's right to give away is one of my books. It's a book made in my '50 books' series. Some of these I will never give away just because they aren't properly made. And with some I have a hard time giving up, because i'm attached to them one way or another. It could be a first time binding working out all right, it could be a special material used, it could be the feel of it. This book has all three and it's laying in a box begging for daylight, the OWOH event is the perfect opportunity to give it a good home ☺

i took some new photos, still not perfect but boy did I learn...

Het is een langsteekbinding ('n rijgsteek in dit geval), 12 bladen, 24 bladzijdes zwaar aquarelpapier. De band is bekleed met oranje/rood 'elefantenhaut'papier en rinde. Genaaid met dun touw. Afmeting van het gesloten boek is ong. 15x10 cm.
It's a longstitch binding (a running stitch in this case), 12 sheets (24 pages counting each side) heavy watercolor paper. Covered with orangy/red 'elefantenhaut' paper and rinde. Sewn with thin twine. The closed book measures appr. 6x4".

Ik vind het heel bijzonder om toch nog mee te kunnen doen aan dit evenement. Lisa dank je wel voor al je werk hieraan, het is fantastisch om de blogwereld op deze manier samen te brengen ♡

• I'm so sorry that I cannot ship this book to Australia (and maybe other countries with strict quarantine rules?) due to the bark on it (aqis info here). This only came to my mind when my post was up for some time. But please DO enter when you live in one of those countries. When you win I will make a new book strictly from materials (i.e. cloth and paper) which can be mailed safely to you ♡

Ik voel me echt helemaal overweldigd door alle lieve reacties op het voltooien van mijn 50-boekenproject. Dank jullie wel!
Mijn hersenen en lijf hebben even pauze nodig, het gaat vanzelf weer kriebelen. Creativiteit komt bij mij in vlagen en als iets afgerond is, is even afstand nemen voor mij de manier om weer op te laden.
Moet ik trouwens nodig zeggen, er spoken al ideeën rond in mijn hoofd en die willen er uit :)


I really feel so overwhelmed by all the sweet comments on reaching the goal in my 50 books project. Thank you all so very much.
My brains and body are in need of a small break, the muses will chime in when time is there. Creativity comes and goes, especially when a large project is done I need some time to recharge. That said... there are a few ideas swirling in my mind already :)

WOW... 500 berichten, 50 boeken en 50 jaren!

WOW... 500 posts, 50 books and 50 years!

Het meesterwerk dat ik in gedachten had voor mijn 50ste boek is het niet helemaal geworden... :D


The masterpiece I had in mind to make as my 50th book is slightly different as I imagined before I started... :D

Het is wel een liefje geworden. Dit vijftigste boek heeft houten platten (d.i. voor- en achterkant) en een 'koptische' binding met zelf gekleurd geel en oranje linnen garen. Het balsahout is superlicht, lichter dan het meeste papier. Het boek ziet er dus heel gewichtig uit, maar weegt bijna niets (nou ja, het papier weegt natuurlijk wel).


It became a cutie though. This 50th book has wooden boards and a 'coptic' sewing done with home-coloured orange and yellow linen thread. The balsa wood is feather-light, lighter than most paper. The book looks heavy, but you will be surprised by the weight.

Ik moest zonodig ruig met de beits gaan druipen, geen goed plan... duurde eeuwig voor ik kon gaan naaien.

I had the urge of dripping wood stain over the boards, not a smart plan... it took ages before I could start sewing.

Het papier is een mooi Engels schrijfpapier, beetje gebroken wit, niet zo geel als op de foto hierboven.


The paper is a nice English writing paper, a bit off-white, not as yellow as the phote above.
