The Three Muses: Legs / Sääret

Kevät on tullut, ja Neiti Lintu ja hänen serkkutyttönsä ovat pukeutuneet uusiin leggingseihinsä ja lähteneet kevätkävelylle. Pojatkin tykkää keväästä, koska tyttöjen sääret alkavat taas näkyä, kun siirrytään paksuista talvitamineista kesämekkoihin ja minihameisiin. - Tällä altsukirjan aukeamalla osallistun Kolmen Muusan haasteeseen, jonka aiheena on "sääret".

Miss Bird and her girl cousins have put on their new leggings and gone for a nice spring walk. Boys love the spring, too, because girls are showing their legs again wearing summer dresses and mini skirts. - This spread from my altered book is my entry for the Three Muses' challenge "Legs".

The Three Muses: Stars / Tähdet

Kevät joka vuosi yhtä mahtava ja riemastuttava näytelmä, ja pohjoiseen palaavat muuttolinnut ovat sen suurimpia tähtiä. Tällä altsukirjani aukeamalla, jossa olen kuvannut joutsenia muuttomatkallaan, osallistun Kolmen Muusan tähti-aiheiseen haasteeseen. Ja tähdethän liittyvät muuttolintuihin sitenkin, että monet linnuista osaavat suunnistaa tähtien mukaan. - Sivujeni pohjalla on osa pohjoista maapalloa vanhasta karttakirjasta sekä mustaa gessoa, joutsenet olen leikannut lehtikuvasta. - Ihanaa kevättä kaikille!

Every year the spring is a marvellous and joyful show, whose main stars here in the north are the returning migrating birds. This spread from my altered book, where I have depicted some swans on their journey, is my entry for this week's Three Muses challenge "Stars". The stars and the migrating birds go together in another sense as well, because many birds can navigate by the stars. - On the background of my pages is a part of the northern part of the globe from an old atlas, and I painted the pages with black gesso. The swans are from a magazine illustration. - I wish you all a wonderful spring time - or autumn or summer for those, who don't live in the northern hemisphere!

The Three Muses: Kartat / Maps

Kolmen Muusan "Kartta"-haasteeseen osallistun tällä atc:lla, jossa pääskyset ovat lähteneet kohti pohjoista Suomea jossain eksoottisessa etelässä sijaitsevasta talvehtimispaikastaan. Kevät on taas lähtenyt käyntiin sellaisella vauhdilla, että tuntuu kuin joka päivä tapahtuisi jotain: uusi lintulaji on palannut, uusi kukka puhjennut kukkimaan, ruoho on vihreämpää ja raparperinalut muhkeampia. Kyllä tätä kevättä on odotettukin pitkän ja lumisen talven jälkeen! - Taustan kartta on Elegian digiarkista, pääskyt ja karttaruusu googletettuja.

This atc is my entry for the Three Muses' challenge "Maps". In my collage the swallows have started their journey back to Finland in the North from some exotic Southern region where they have spent the winter - they will be here some time in the end of May. The spring has started to come here with such a speed that it seems that every day there is something new to see: new birds have arrived, new flowers started to bloom, the grass is a bit greener and the rhubarb shoots a bit bigger. We have really been waiting for the spring after such a long and snowy winter! - The background map is from Elegia's digital sheet, the swallows and the compass rose are googled.

The Three Muses: Blackbird / Mustarastas

Kolmen Muusan "Mustarastas"-aiheiseen haasteeseen tein tämän aukeman altsukirjaani. Koska en tähän aikaan vuodesta sano mustarastaille näkemiin (niinkuin haasteessa esitetty lainaus "Bye bye blackbird" vihjaa) vaan Tervetuloa isolla T:llä, niin laitoin kollaasini otsikoksi "Hello Blackbird". Mustarastaat aloittivat kevätlaulunsa täällä viime sunnuntaina, ja nyt niitten voi kuulla viheltävän voimakasta sävelmäänsä joka aamu, ja aina korkeimpien kuusten latvoissa. Kevät on viimeinkin alkanut!

This spread from my altered book is my entry for the Three Muses' challenge "Blackbirds". Their theme actually was "Bye bye blackbird", but this time of the year is not for saying bye bye but Hello! and Welcome, Blackbirds! They started their spring concerto here last Sunday, and now we can hear their loud whistling tune every morning - and they always sit on the highest branches of the trees. The Spring has finally begun!
