Stitched Titles and Sentiments Tutorial

Hi there!

Happy Wednesday!  I have a new tutorial for you.  A long, long while ago I shared a tutorial on hand stitched titles, suggesting that you stitch over your hand writing to create a title on your layout.  Now, I know that many of us do not like our handwriting, so I have revisited this technique to come up with something that we might like a little more.

I printed out my title/sentiment the size I need for my project.  You can simply use the Word Document program on your computer.  If you are like me, you may need to print out a couple of sizes to ensure you get one that suits your project. Or if you have a Silhouette, you can print from your project design screen... this is really nice as you can get it the exact size you need the first time!

Now, gather up your printed title, the element you are going to be stitching on, a needle and embroidery floss, a piercing tool and mat, and a couple of paper clips.
I know it is a little hard to tell in this photo, but I like to hold my printed text and the paper I am stitching on up to the light so that I can check to make sure I have good alignment.  Clip it into place, so it holds titght while piercing.
I decided to only pierce / stitch along one side of my letters, but you could pierce along both sides for a different look.
Now remove your printed template to reveal your pierced guide.
 And start stitching.
Doesn't it  look great when it is all done?  And it really only took a couple of minutes!
I added my stitched piece to this card as a sentiment.  I think it turned out great!  Stay tuned in a couple of weeks I will be sharing another tip based on this card.

Thanks for visiting!

Sketch-y Friday

Hello and happy Friday!

Now, you know what Friday means, right?  Yup, we have a new sketch for you to play with! We hope you play along and share your creations!

This week it was Eileen's turn to share a sample with us...

Now it's your turn!  Play along and share it with us!

Here is a run down of the rules.  We are offering a little prize to one lucky scrapper that participates in at least 2 of this month's 4 sketches.  Just link up your creations at the bottom of each Sketch-y Friday post, all qualifying scrappers will be entered into a random draw for a prize.  Only one entry per sketch please.  You have until Wednesday August 1st at midnight to participate in any of July's sketch challenges, each linkup tool will remain open until that date!  But remember, you must play along with 2 different sketches for a chance to win!  (International participants may be required to pay some shipping fees. )

Also, we are launching something new!  Would you like to be one of our sketch layout designers?  Each month we are going to offer one lucky participant the opportunity to create the reveal sample for one of our sketches!  So if you are interested in being considered, play along with at least two sketches and while you are linking up your creations add "GDT" after your name.  The only stipulation is that you must have a blog.

Now getting creating!   And thanks for visiting!

Adding Dimension to Stickers - Tutorial

Hi there,
I have a little tip to share today, it's is not quite a tutorial, but I am sharing just the same!
Have you ever wanted to pop dot a sticker, but were a little concerned that once you inserted your page into an album the adhesive on the sticker would stick to your page and you would lose your dimensional look?  Well grab your baby powder for a quick fix.
Sprinkle the powder onto the back of your sticker, make sure you get good coverage.
 Tap off the excess.
And start adding those pop dots, we all love so much!
See, told yah it was more of a quick and easy tip!
