Celebrate Fall

So, it is football time now and that means I head to my craft room.  My hubby was watching the Iowa State game which doesn't interest me in the least.  I am so happy to have a hobby that I can go do while he enjoys the games.  I am sure he likes it too...I am not standing in the way or talking too much.

I am thinking by now you can tell I have a horrible addiction to the new My Minds Eye papers.  I found 4 of the 6x6 packs at Hobby Lobby, but only bought 3 of them (Union Square, Market Street, and Portobello Road).  These are last years lines, but they just made them in 6x6 packs to my knowledge.  I was shocked to see they also had a lot of the new SB dies too.

I used the new sketch at Card Patterns.  I love making horizontal cards and this is a great sketch for that.  You can see that I used the ribbon and bow instead of flowers to the right of the circle.  That just wasn't going to work for me and the image I wanted to use.  For some reason I see the sketch isn't up on the blog yet.  I found it on Silke's blog who is guest designing for them this week.

Bloom Where You are Planted

What a week this has been so far.  I am still trying to get used to the new school schedule.  My poor son spends 3 hours a day on the bus if I don't take and pick him up.  The whole school system is a mess here.  It makes me really appreciate Iowa much more now.  So anyway....

I made a card for this weeks Card Patterns sketch.  This will work with just about anything.  As you can see I am putting my new MME papers to good use.

I am in love with the Blush 6x6 pack of MME papers.  Such beautiful vintage designs.  I used the cute little PTI Tag-its #3 set and a sweet bloom from Recollections.  The border punch is Martha Stewart and the doily die is from PTI.  The faint polka dot background that I stamped at the top is from Round and Round.

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday

I have been waiting a while for my pretty Zinnias to arrive.  Finally, today they came and I quickly colored and made a card for this weeks Timeless Tuesday challenge.

Here are the details:
This week is IN the BAG! Use brown grocery bag paper on your card or project. You can use a brown lunch bag to create a gift item or small scrapbook album. Or, you can use sections of the bag to create a background, border, or accent piece for your card or project. Looking forward to seeing what you create!

I am not so sure how I feel about all the peach.  I knew exactly what I wanted to do, it just didn't turn out that way.  What do you think?  I used more of the Basic Grey Sweet Threads paper and I used the brown bag as a border with my PTI banner border dies.  The Spellbinders die I used is a Scrap Mart Exclusive.  I also used Copics BV00, BV02, VO4, YG03, G21, G24, YR21, N0, 0.  Tim Holtz distress ink in Antique Linen.  Seam binding is from Blue Bird Lane Etsy.  Pearls are Kaiser Craft.

These are my Zinnias in the back yard.  They are finally starting to bloom.  I planted a sherbet mix, but I haven't seen the hot pink blooms yet.  Maybe those are late bloomers.  Just as I went outside to take a picture of these pretties, my camera battery died.  So this was taken after then sun went down.

These are just close ups of the colors.  I found out when I was living in Iowa how much the sweet little Gold Finches LOVE these when the heads go to seed.  I also planted Sunflowers for them to eat on in the fall as well.  They are not quite blooming yet.  I will take more pictures as things start to open.  The dry conditions here haven't made for the prettiest of flowers.  I water every night, but they still don't look as good as my flowers in Iowa.  You want to talk about rain?  Move to Iowa....we got plenty!  My flowers were always so beautiful there.  Sigh...

I based my card today off the sketch at Card Patterns.

If you want to be eligible for the the $10 gift code to the Flourishes store you must link your card on the Flourishes blog post and leave a comment for all the designers.  Also, don't forget to leave a comment on the Flourishes blog letting them know you have done so after the fact.

Happy Birthday Mom

Hello.  I wanted to share a birthday card that I made for my mom's birthday on Thursday.  She told me she wanted nature and natural, kraft paper, twine, maybe with a bird, and  no froo froo stuff.  I hope this does the trick.  I didn't even stitch on the card.  I am happy with how it turned out though.  I think the stitching would have been too much.

I found this bird image HERE along with a lot of other beauties.  I printed him off and colored it with my Copics to brighten up the washed out color.  Here in Alabama these darn Mocking Birds are everywhere and they are sooo mean.  They are running off my sweet Eastern Bluebirds and fighting with the Robins, but my mom likes them so I guess I can put my prejudices aside to make her a card.  hehe

I used the fab sketch over at Card Patterns

My hubby and son are telling me they are hungry and want me to start dinner.  So off I go.  See you soon.

Just Thinking of you

I got more craft time today.  I have been wanting to play along with the sketch at Card Patterns since the moment it was posted on Saturday.  There are so many options with this one.  I love it!

I used more of my Crate Paper Emma's Shoppe...along with 3 different PTI butterfly dies and the Mat Stack 2 stamp and die.  The border punch is from EK Success.  I cut the banner tails with my craft knife.

It was another beautiful day here.  Low 70's with a breeze...my favorite kind of weather!  How is in your neck of the woods right now?  Hopefull everyone is finished with the snow.

Tea Time / PTI Blog Hop

I didn't fall off the Earth.  I promise.  I have been working more the last 3 weeks.  So finding crafty/visiting time is hard.  I did have time to make a card and participate in the PTI blog hop.  The challenge is to use embroidery floss in an inventive way.  I am not sure this is so inventive, but it works.  All this twine you are seeing around is the same thing as embroidery floss.  I have both and they are exactly the same.  I decided to wrap mine around this cute little jar from the set called Friendship Jar.  I love the Tea For Two set and thought the sentiment would go perfectly.

I have Iced Tea every day for lunch and dinner, so this was a match made in heaven for me.
AND...I keep all my pasta sauce, and jelly jars, wash them out and use them for my iced tea.  I even have about 6 jars that look exactly like the Ball Jars with the handle.  My wonderful neighbor in Iowa saved them all after her jelly was gone.  She actually gave them to my son because she thought he would like to drink out of them.  Well, little does she know that I use them daily.  hehe   I think Mish had a wonderful idea when she designed this set.

I have wanted to use this pretty Crete Paper from the 6x6 pad called Emma's Shoppe from the moment I received it in the mail.  It just screams Shabby Chic to me.  I have horribly been neglecting my shabby side lately.  Although I love to color, I still am a Shabby girl at heart.

I used this fabulous sketch from Card Patterns.

I can't wait to see what everyone else has created for the hop.

You Inspire Me/Card Patterns

Hello my sweets.  I am just getting over a nasty stomach bug that ripped through our family faster than anything I have ever seen.  Each day another person got sick.  First my son on Monday, then my dad and husband the next day and then my mother and I Wednesday night.  I have never seen something that contagious before.  My son was only around my parents for an hour on Monday and they ended up sick too.  YUCK!!
Any who...on to my card.
I made this card using the new sketch at Card Patterns.  I actually made this card days ago and just ended up posting other cards.  Can you tell I am loving my new Spellbinders Dies?  I have wanted this Lacy Circles die since it came out.  I am not waiting so long to get the new release this time.  I found a great place to get Spellbinders Dies and Just Rite stamps for a good price and free shipping Scrap Mart.  I like to share when I find something or somewhere I like to get supplies.  I love it when others share too.
I also finally used one of my new flowers from Reccollections at Michaels  I also used my Craft Seam Binding from Martha Stewart.  They had all her ribbon on Clearance.  I never even saw the seam binding before that day.  How sad.  I have also been putting off using my Fine Linen cardstock from PTI.  I loved the ribbon and button colors...but not the cardstock color so much.  It worked very well for the October Afternoon papers since they are heavily aged already.

I am off to take a nap.  I am still weak from that darn bug.  I hope you all have a wonderful day.  It is warming up here and sunny.  We are going to have temps around 56 by Saturday.  I can't wait.

Butterflies and Blossoms

Hello again.  I finally got a little craft time last night.  My room is still a mess, but things are so crazy I needed to make something to distract myself before I go insane.  hehe
I made this card using the brand new set from Flourishes called Butterflies and Blossoms.  It has the most beautiful images on it.  I love that Flourishes always has the most amazing sentiments in their sets as well.  I forgot to take a picture of the inside.  I will have to do that first thing in the morning.
I am so disappointed that my sewing machine isn't working.  My card would look so much better with stitching on it.  It liked to have shredded a card I made the other day.  I need to find time in my already crazy schedule to fix it.  Any volunteers?
