I thought I was officially done making my holiday cards. Then I started to clean all the holiday remains off my desk and re-discovered a stamp set I took out two months ago to make a Christmas card. So this had to be done:
This is for a friend in Boston who says "card" like "cod", so it's perfect, at least in my mind.
I did it a bit differently this time. I usually stamp the fish on a remnant, then cut it out, but today I stamped it onto the card base, stamped it again on some masking paper, and masked the stamped image before I colored the background. I'm not sure why, as it wasn't really any easier, just different.
I used three colors of Distress ink for the water, then stamped the top part of the water with Pool ink and a wave stamp. I sponged in a few clouds at the top so it wasn't so white, and after I stuck the panel to a card front, I added a Santa hat.
NOW I'm done. All my holiday stuff has been stowed for another year. Well, no, probably only until January when those Jingle Belles fire up their 2016 challenge series. But for a few weeks, it's all put away.
Tomorrow I shall begin writing on the insides of the cards. My goal is to get to the Post Office by Tuesday. I'm afraid Monday will be a madhouse. It may be the official mailing day for Christmas, so I'm not taking any chances. Normally I'd just stuff the envelopes into the slot and run away, but I have a few with questionable thickness, and a few going to Canada, so ... yeah, I'll stand in line for those.
I hope you're making progress on your card-making. And if you've already mailed your cards, I don't want to hear about it. Darn over-achievers.
Edited to add: I'm linking up with the Snarky Stampers, since their last challenge this year is:
NOW I'm done.
Thanks for stopping by!
Some of the stuff I used: Cod and Cod Sayings from River City Rubber Works, Little B Santa hat stickers, Copics (N1, N2), and the following:

I Might Be Done
Even though I play over at the Jingle Belles challenge a lot, it's not enough to yield the number of holiday cards I need each year. So while some of you are OMG I NEED TO DESIGN MY HOLIDAY CARD, I'm the same way, but on a lesser scale. I've got about 75% of mine covered by the end of November. :)
I decided I needed a few more Christmas cards, and since I had a new stamp set, I figured why not? I made a few of these:
I used three colors of Distress ink and water colored the panels, then flicked some water on them to get spots. Then I got tired and left them to dry over night.
The next daaaay ... (Does anyone else have Little Bunny Foo Foo streaming in their head right now? You're welcome.)
The next day, I die-cut all the panels so they were the same size, then used my MISTI to stamp the sentiment in Hero Arts Silver. I need to get a re-inker so I don't have to ink it up twice to get a good impression. Or maybe it's because it's water color paper and the texture needs more impressions than regular card stock. Whatever.
I embossed the sentiment and star with SU silver embossing powder. It's very shiny:
Purple. That Blueprint Sketch color is on the purple/violet side, and I got to go look for a piece of purple card stock for a layer. This usually ends badly for me, but luckily I found a piece of textured 12x12 card stock I declared to be close enough. I've now disappeared 1 1/2 sheets of it, too. #bonus
My next task is to start addressing envelopes, and matching cards to people. Do you do that? Since I have so many different cards, I like to give them to specific people who'd appreciate them. Some of my friends wouldn't appreciate a snarky Christmas card, for example.
Wow, it's only the 10th. I might actually pull this off this year and get stuff mailed before the 23rd. Could happen.
Thanks for stopping by!

SOS #230: UFOs
It's Tuesday, and time for a new challenge at Shopping Our Stash. This week's challenge is UFOs, which stands for UnFinished Objects. We'd like you to use something that you started but didn't finish. Perhaps some new technique you tried; you didn't feel the love, but you couldn't throw it away. Or an extra stamped image. Or a left-over die-cut. At least in my world, I will never run out of options.
Here's my card for this challenge:
One thing I have in great abundance (is there any other kind?) is Gelli plate panels. I have a challenge on my list to use blue & green (my favorite!), so I chose a Gelli panel with mostly blue & green to die-cut my snowflake.
I actually cut it twice so I could put one on the back and make this a spinner card. Well, that was my plan, anyway. I found my 5 spools of SU gold cord (before they made the elastic version) and used a few inches of it to secure the snowflake in the circle aperture.
Then I veered off track and just backed it with a piece of SU Brushed Gold card stock, so it's not a spinner after all.
The green layer is a piece of Hero Arts designer paper that was sitting in my cast-off pile near my paper trimmer. The peace die was a freebie from Taylored Expressions for shopping on their site. First time I've used it.
For my final act I added a turquoise enamel dot to the center of the snowflake to hopefully accent the blue in the die-cut.
So, got UFOs? Why not join us at SOS and use some of them. While you're there, please make sure to check out what the other gals have made and leave them some bloggy comment love.
I'm entering this card in the Less Is More challenge to use green & blue, and the CAS-ual Fridays challenge to use a snowflake:
