Birds - watercolor + copics

Hi friends - how is your weekend going? Mine is good; tomorrow will be a super busy day so I was thrilled to find some time to sneak into my craft room for some relaxation! I really love the colors for the Color Throwdown challenge this week (CTD403) and I couldn't pass up the chance to get DIRTY too!

I haven't used these birds from Inkadinkado in F-O-R-E-V-E-R, I knew right where they were and was glad to dig them out and get them inky! I stamped the image in black VersaFine and embossed with Hero Arts clear embossing powder. I originally did the image with watercolors but just didn't have as much pop and depth as I wanted so out came the Copics. :D

I added some shading then went back and water colored around the image with a couple different zig brushes. The layout is from MFTWSC291 (see below). I added the same colors to the background using water color crayons, I dried between each layer and continued to add more color. I did have some issues with the water color paper pilling but it wasn't too bad. I added some drops of Hero Arts unicorn white spray, mounted the main panel on fun foam, added a button and multiple-looped bow. The hello sentiment is from PTI's Heart-to-Heart set embossed with platinum embossing powder.

Thanks for stopping by; have a GREAT day!

Hugs,

Sketch w/inspiration from Jodi

Hi friends - welcome back for another sketch challenge at Splitcoaststampers - hope you'll check it out and join us this week, it's an easy and super fun one! (you can see the sketch below also)

I saw THIS card inspired by Jodi and did a CASE (copy and share everything); I used a different stamp set, one of my all-time faves, Doodle Buds by WPlus9. I also saw a video by Sandy Allnock using this same stamp set and decided to try REALLY REALLY hard to be a bit artistic and not such a perfectionist - my cards are far from perfect, but I definitely stress too much over coloring! :(

I cut the whip cream frame using Mama Elephant's Femme Frames and mounted with dimensional foam; so the black piece is recessed lower than the frame (impossible to tell from the photos though). I splattered on some Hero Arts Unicorn ink spray; the images were stamped in Memento Black on Copic paper but colored with Zig Clean Color brushes using no water.

I finished it off with SSS's Birthday Flowers stamp set, some white polka dots with everything layered onto a Royal Velvet card base.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you join the fun this week! Take care!

Hugs,

Bold and Bright geometric style

Hi friends - welcome back to another super fun sketch at Splitcoaststampers, you can see the sketch for this week below. You know - I had this GREAT idea to play with ink and paper and keep my layers to a minimum...started out pretty good, but ya know...layers happen. HA!

I flipped the sketch from horizontal to vertical. Blended on distress inks across the bottom and added some American Crafts glitter paper in black, using the white edge between the ink and glitter paper as one of the elements to the sketch. I added some striped designer paper from MFT cut with 2 different wonky circle dies (also from MFT); the center circle is actually popped up on dimensions as is the flower.

The flower is die cut from a paperback book and stamped with PTI's Beautiful Blooms II set in various distress inks (most stamped second generation). I adhered the entire flower together with a brad and topped it with a PTI button and twine. Once everything was glued together, I added some plain and polka dot vellum leaves from Hero Arts Color Layering For You flowers, the 'hi' from MFT's Happy Hellos in pink polka dot paper finished the card.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you find some time to play along with our sketch this week! Have a great week; take care!

Hugs,

Hello Sweet Friend!

It's that time again - time for another sketch over at Splitcoaststampers. Be sure to check it out tomorrow morning right HERE (or see sketch below)! I recently purchased Simon Says Stamp's April card kit and it is chalk full of gorgeous paper and ephemera and when you have paper that gorgeous, you just let it take center stage!!

I used tons of paper from the 6x6 paper pack, embossed a bit, used some new (to me) gold washi tape and finished it off with a gorgeous gold hello (from MFT) with a vellum flag embossed with a sentiment from PTI's Heart-2-Heart set. Easy peasy. I flipped the flag from the right side o the main panel to the left side - it's a starting point, you don't have to be exact! ;)

Hope the sketch gives you some inspiration and you join the fun; we love seeing your creations!

Hugs,
