WOYWW #147

It's another Wednesday when Julia Dunnit from Stamping Ground lets us upload pics from our craft areas... then we all go around snooping in everyone's rooms. BIG GRIN

My desk is an utter mess. I've been doing the Creative Chemistry class 101 - Tim Holtz and after work, getting the tag done, pics taken, uploaded and then doing a few other odd things to get ready for work the next day - and no time to tidy up... Tomorrow or Thursday when I'm off I'll get some semblance of tidy.

And thanks Julia for the lovely pin you sent me. Sorry it's not in the pic, just off to the side...

The previous post has today's tags on it. Have a  great day everyone.

It's another 'WHAT'S ON YOUR WORKDESK WEDNESDAY" Hosted by Julia Dunnit from Stamping Ground.
It's a chance to peek into the other crafters workspaces, some tidy, some not so tidy. Mine is a mess. Just finished the Magnetic Die Holder which turned out pretty good if I do say so myself and at half the price... So I just might make a few more, but only after I tidy up a bit. Can't move.

WOYWW - What's on your Desk Wed #141

My desk is a mess... It's been a while since I've uploaded what's on my desk but thought I'd give it a go again. Julia over at Stamping Ground   shows us hers and the rest of us... follow along BIG GRIN

I've given myself a challenge to only use the scraps of cardstock and paper that I've amassed over the years to create any new cards... I've also given myself to the end of March, to see how it goes. Hence the more than messy desk. Those drawers on the left side have a few of the stash pile, more all over my home. The card in the foreground is only done with scraps.

Then I also just picked up a package at the post office. Got my new Purple Cow "Wind It', Pin It, and Trim It gadgets. You can see a couple of wire forms I made using the Wind It gadget (on the left). Going to have fun with it. The Trim it has 9 blades in the housing to do all kind of cutting edges. I like it because it's all in one cutter... and then that Pin It gadget, which I haven't actually used yet, but has really nice staples of leaves, hearts, butterflies etc and can staple it anywhere on the page (magnetic type gadget).

So that's what's on my desk. Look forward to seeing everyone else's desk.

WOYWW Sept/11 #119

I had a little health issue crop into my life and am still not 100% myself... but getting better and better each day.
This is what my desk looks like, cutting apart some new Halloween rubber I got from Quietfire Design and then cataloging it in the book you see at right.

Anyway, to see why I'm showing these pics, just hop on over to Julia's blog Stamping Ground to see a bunch  of other work surfaces BIG GRIN.

I have 1 book full with quote/words/alphabets etc; 3 full with all the images divided by themes, I also have one full with all embossing folders and 1 for all my punches/die cuts etc. I reference these books every day when I'm creating, refreshing my mind and pick just the right item for a project. It takes a little time initially, but it such a time  saver in the end. The pages are done with a comb binding machine and pages can be added or removed as needed.

You might have remember the shoe I was working on a couple weeks ago. You can now see both of them finished on that back desk area. To see more of them just click HERE.

WOYWW Aug 24th #116

Another Wednesday, where does the time fly. Sheesh Maybe because I'm so busy and there are never enough hours/minutes in a day to do everything... Anyway this is what's on my desk this Wednesday... (WOYWW) and if you'd like to know what that's all about, just visit Julia Dunnit's blog the Stamping Ground for links to a whole bunch of other desks - big grin.

So here's what's on my desk today. I'm working on samples in a small lettering journal for a couple Fun Lettering classes I'm teaching in the fall.

That white high heel shoe of to the left is a project for the "Altered Shoe Exhibit" in late October, but needs to be ready in a few weeks. There are some white snowflakes with various techniques in the middle upper area of the desk that will be part of this shoe. Have to make a bunch more - ones that will visually stand out from the rest. Will add pearls and rhinestones and stuff. Still formulating the design... I've already covered it with gesso, crystal beads in a glue mixture, and Liquitex Glass beads.

Have a Christmas card that I need to take pics of and upload that I did yesterday and a new oven thermometer for my polymer clay stuff. My cheapie oven is really wonky...

Now the first pic I took of my studio had part of what's seen below, but thought I'd give you a more detailed view - for those that are interested:

Cards along the ceiling shelf.
Various cleaning supplies - used in crafting too... floor polish, baby powder etc.
Daniel Smith colored gessoes, mis glues, Liquitex Paints, Chalk Board paint, Print makers inks, Huge block of Sculpey.
In the right hand section are various brands of calligraphy inks and paints, Delta Ceramcoat acrylic paints (every color...) There's a chart on the wall to the left of all the colors, so i just look there, then go to the numerical number on the shelf. They're also held in plastic containers so I can remove a whole shelf's worth if I want.
Then there are a bunch of other brands further towards the bottom.
More glues and misc stuff.
The left hand section holds Golden's mediums, gesso and other products they make.
Other brands of gesso especially black... flower stiffener, mod podge, products for marbling, antiquing etc., Sprays, webbing, odorless Mineral solution, behind the door, under the color chart is Mat board I use for framing my artwork, various good quality large paper etc.
Just in front of all the paints is my scrap mat board bin, and the plastic bags tot he right of that holds all my large art sheets, like watercolor papers, Canson, Strathmore, Fabriano colored art papers and cardstocks. Each bag has an individual type of paper in it, so I can pull them out very easily and slip the remains back in.
So that's it for the tour today. Have a great week and hope to see you next week. Enjoy.

WOYWW Aug 17th #115

Today I thought I'd give you a glimpse of what's on my desk and what's in front and to the left of my desk - BIG GRIN. And if anyone is wondering why I'm doing that or what that weird title is... it's because every Wednesday, Julia from "Stamping Ground" asks us to show her "what's on your desk Wednesday" - so voila...

I finished a couple cards yesterday and started making the envelopes to mail them. They're for birthdays, so had to cover up most of the envie - sorry. What you see to the left on my desk, encased  in the green, is the pile of postage stamps I've accumulated. Every time a new issue comes out (except for sports...) I pick up at least a package, so I always have a stamp that would match what I'm creating on the envelope.

Also I've finally had a chance to do some calligraphy for the envies and one of the cards. It's a rare occasion I get to do that, I usually just do a quick monoline, or print out from my computer and decorate with rubber. And I've been having fun playing with this style lately.

The desk in the cupboard is usually a catch all - sometimes a real BIG catch all, but today it's pretty tidy. I have a handmade spray booth (not spending $15 on one), my iron that should go back in my sewing room. All the little drawers and boxes are things I only use once in a while and I just pull the drawer or box over to my desk when I need something - brads, eyelets, misc tools, paddle punch stuff (from Sizzix), Blow pens and Magic Markers), glue glitters and misc Pebeo stuff. On the shelf above with the big black box/drawers is misc excess pens, markers, colored pencils, paint brushes. The shelves above that is mostly useless stuff and one day I'll attack it... but at the moment some of my artwork hangs precariously .

Under the desk in the cupboard you can see several more drawer thingies that I roll out when needed. One has my toaster oven on it and in the drawers all the polymer clay, friendly plastic, tools and stuff. There are 4 drawer thingies under there. In the very back ones I have my wood mounted stamps that I use maybe 1 every few months... Give me clear stamps. I have drawers with copper/brass/aluminum sheets, pre-sized card/envelopes etc. The Ikea cupboard on the right has lots of set type containers of colored pencils, markers and things, bottom drawer for Melt Art stuff, sander and sanding blocks etc., and the rest has all the little extras I don't know where to put and who knows what else.

To the right of the cupboard, up high near the ceiling, there are a few cards showing. I have a small shelf running along the whole wall and over that door, that hold cards I've made, mostly things I can't sell because they are specific to a time or occasion, made for a challenge or whatever.

To the left of the cupboard I have several Zyrons that I barely use, my calligraphy stuff and more misc stuff.

Hanging from a long thick wood shower type rod near the ceiling, I have page protectors in both sizes (12 x 12 & 8.5 x 11) storing all kinds of stuff, mostly Oriental or quality decorative papers,or hand decorated papers by me (marble, Paste Paper, hand molded paper etc), some collage stuff, some metal charms I wont use because I use them to make molds.... I like letting my fingers do the walking through them, also if I see it, I'll probably use it.

So that's it for today. Hope you enjoyed the mini tour. Till next week. Have a great and creative day.

WOYWW Aug 9th #114

Well this is my 2nd WOYWW (that stands for "Whats On Your Workdesk Wednesday") post over on the Stamping Ground. Last week someone mentioned liking my "L" shaped desk. Actually it's a "U" shaped desk as you can more readily see from these pics. And when I roll out my Big Shot Pro from under the shelving on the right, it becomes an "O" shaped desk. I did that cut out to fit my Big Shot in that spot a couple weeks ago and am so happy with the arrangement. This is one heavy machine.

I went to a friends house on Monday for a play day with a couple other friends as well. We had a good time and one of my friends wasn't going to be using one of her Cricut cartridges "Paper Lace" which is absolutely a fabulous cartridge, so she's lent it to me and I've been cutting away since then and decorating some, using the negatives and positives, adding glitter etc.. Haven't stopped yet...

I've never bought a cartridge yet, but I'm tempted to buy this one. Now if I could find it for $20 instead of the normal $90 plus I would buy it in an instant, but as good as it is, I won't spend that kind of money on a cartridge. I prefer designing my own stuff anyway and I have no problems with copyrights that way.

PS I've been getting comments asking about the stained glass window in the pic above and yes I designed and made it. I've been a glass artist for over 30 years.

WOYWW Aug 3rd #113

OK this is the first time I'm entering this call #113 to see what's on your desk on Wednesday hosted by The Stamping Ground... Click on photo to see a larger image.

PS it may look cramped under my table, but it's not. When I'm working on my computer, I move one of the wheeled drawer thingies out of the way, and vice a versa for when I'm working on a project. There's enough room for my legs not to have to do this unless I'm doing more than a half hours computer stuff...

I started the card on my desk last night, making the punched frame and coloring it. Today I finished the card and will be uploading it after this post.

PS I tidy up my desk and surrounding area after each project so I can make a total mess again. BIG GRIN. But I need a tidy area to think....
