Gravity Gales is depressed.

So when she’s inexplicably summoned into the virtual reality game Final Destiny Light 3, she’s in no hurry to leave. Things here make sense—the mission guidelines are clear, the player roles are unambiguous, and if she works twice as hard as the next person, then she’ll receive twice the rewards.

Despite the fact that her favorite weapon has begun to talk to her, speaking of some apocalypse-averting quest that she supposedly was summoned to complete, Gravity is determined to stay here for the rest of her life—even if that means letting the rest of her world fall apart around her.

SUMMONED to ANOTHER WORLD, but ALL I’M SUPPOSED to DO is FARM MYTHIC-RARITY RAID DROPS is a novel about escapism, the unspoken psychological toll of mere existence, and how we find the courage to go on living. It’s also a love letter to video game and isekai anime, taking inspiration from works like Re:Zero, .hack//SIGN, and Recovery of an MMO Junkie, while ultimately asking why we find such stories compelling in the first place.

This novel is just over 90,000 words long, features cover artwork by the incomparable ChaseFOX, and is intended for mature audiences. It contains graphic depictions of self-harm, suicidal ideation, bodily mutilation, and abusive behavior. It features an entirely adult, entirely queer cast, and while it does feature the dynamics of gay relationships, it is not primarily a romantic work.

Truly, it is nothing more than a story about an adult woman trapped within a video game.

If you’re too sophisticated for genre fiction, or if you think portal fantasies are overdone, then there is nothing here that will change your mind. But if you, too, enjoy losing yourself within the pulp and schlock of low-brow sci-fi, then I know you’ll find this story worth reading.
