Hi all, introducing [CGMZ] Scene Backgrounds!

Customize Any Scene

This plugin allows you to show a custom image as a background to any menu-based scene in your game. This works for the default scenes and includes instructions on how to set the background for each of those. It also should work for custom scenes created by third-party plugins. This was tested with CGMZ plugin custom scenes, but it should work for non-CGMZ plugin scenes too provided you know the scene's constructor name.

Scrolling Backgrounds

You can also set your custom backgrounds to scroll, similar to how map parallax images can scroll. Scrolling can be in the x or y direction (or both for diagonal scrolling), and you can control the speed of the scroll. Here is a preview of the scrolling background (choppiness of the scroll is a result of the gif making process, in game it is smooth):

Weather

Your menu scene backgrounds can also support weather. Despite the name of the plugin, it is an option to also display weather in front of the window layer. This makes the weather much more visible. You can either have your scenes hard coded to always show a specific weather at a specific power, or you can have them continue any weather that is playing on the map. Below is a gif of how this can look:

This plugin can also handle showing a looping video as the scene background. See below gif for how it can look (sorry that it is very short, it is due to itch image file size limitations):

Foregrounds

This plugin supports a foreground image layer as well, with all of the same options as the background layer! You can use static images over the top of your windows as some kind of scene border or similar, or you can achieve a foggy / unique effects by making them scroll such as the below gif:

If there is no custom background image set up for a scene, it will fall back to the blurred map background which is default to the base RPG Maker code.

Backgrounds can also have a tint or opacity setting, in case you want to re-use a background across multiple scenes with a different color tint.

You can opt to display the default blurred map behind the custom background image as well, in case you have a semi-transparent background to display over the map. You can unblur the default map background image as well.

With one line of custom JS, you can also change the scene background mid-scene. This can be used for integrations with other plugins or with plugins that allow custom js via parameters. See documentation for more information on how to do this.

Debug

This plugin comes with a convenient debug option to print the constructor name for any menu scene to the console for easy access, all you need to do is enable the option and then copy the constructor name from the console to the plugin parameter to set a background for that scene. No more looking through code trying to find the constructor names.
