The Last Winter Knight - DEMO
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux

You wake up as a ghost, with no memory of who you were or how you died. The only clue to your past is the empty suit of armour you now possess.
As you explore an abandoned castle and piece together your memories, you’ll uncover your tale: A tale of broken promises, regret, and bonds that last beyond death.
But your story doesn’t have to die with you.
How will you write its ending?

Got around to playing the new updated demo for this and AUURGHSSFKSJKSJJ!!!! I loved the first version as well, but this was even better, I was even more immersed! I have longed to return to this story, it is a genuine masterpiece. It cannot be understated how magnificent of a composer you are, the music is above perfect in every moment. I especially loved the track that plays at the end of the tunnel. I also looove the artwork, especially for the armors, it's incredible beautiful! The gameplay is dymanic and fun to go through, there is a feeling of accomplishment when you progress. The story means so much more after knowing that this story is so strongly connected to Trail of Stars...my babies...I have once again cried smh. The box? The BOX??? I loved every second of it! No one does it like you<3
I'm glad that you enjoyed the new demo! Thank you so much for playing it! :')
The Last Winter Knight's art is beautiful and elegant. The music is sad and bittersweet. The writing is so expressive and has such emotion. I am amazed at how well you combine everything to make a complete, compelling tale that comes to life. I cannot wait to experience the full story!
Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm really glad that every element enhanced the story for you. <3
This is the most interactive Endysis game I’ve played yet and perhaps the best, even as a demo. I loved examining every item and place to piece together the lore. I became so consumed with discovering the knight’s origins that I completely forgot it was a demo… until that cruel cliffhanger reminded me 😭 I NEED MORE PLEASE
Thank you once again for playing and leaving your thoughts!! I'm sorry haha but I'm glad you were so invested in it!! :')
I feel like going absolutely insane cause I am so invested in the mystery, like hello?? My brain cells are working overtime trying to figure out the identity of our knight and what happened in the castle. The way you pace the story is so well-done; it really builds the suspense and mystery! I felt tense with anticipation as I clicked through the game.
And god, you're just so really good at setting the tone of your stories, it's practically enviable. I can feel the melancholy, grief, and emptiness in the text. Granted, I've only gone through one playthrough, so I haven't explored the other personality variations, but still. The emptiness of knowing the world has gone on without you, of knowing that there should be something in your heart, but you can't feel it, of simultaneously mourning the self but also being apathetic UGH. Delicious. Let me drown it.
As for the quality, please. This is ENDYSIS's work; of course, it's going to be absolutely impeccably gorgeous. You've worked hard on the new demo and your passion for this project really shows. I can't wait for the full release!!
Thank you so much for the kind words! I truly appreciate them and am glad to hear the mystery and atmosphere gripped you; I hope you enjoy the final version too!!

It should go without saying but I do not make my games available anywhere else besides my itch account and on Steam.
Thank you so much and please take care!

I played the original demo and was head over heels. Now I played the new demo and I could not believe that you could make something so good already even better.
There is so much attention to detail - in the dialogue, the music, the artwork. I love it when creators put put a lot of effort in their dialogue and flavour text and so I was pleasantly surprised how much of that is in here. Not only that, but all the subtle changes in the dialogue depending on how you play or let our knight act is so neat. It's such a delight to see. And how the interface changes, depending on what you interact with (whether it's a letter, etc.), as well as how the 'frost' disappears once you've seen everything there is to see on screen is a nice touch as well.
Not to mention I absolutely love the writing. I love the atmospheric and fairy-tale like style and how there's this dark/melancholy undertone, but it still manages to be heartwarming and hopeful whenever at the same time and even funny at other times. I'm amazed how some of these lines were able to touch at my heartstrings like it was nothing, but also managed to make me chuckle at other occassions.
The music is hauntingly beautiful and as always a highlight for me. As soon as a music piece starts, you're drawn in and you can't help but be whisked away by it. The music fits the scenes perfectly. But even if you listen to the tracks on their own, they manage to tell a story all by themselves and that's an amazing feat to accomplish.
The artwork is stunning and as much as I loved the original artwork already, when you compare it to the updated version, it's insane how even more detail and love was added in each and every picture, or how the the artwork manages to perfectly envision the atmosphere for every scene. Add this to the music and writing... how could you not be drawn in?
The story is intriguing and engaging. It had me hooked right from the start and I can't wait to find out more about all the little things that have been eluded to already. And the gameplay adds itself to the way the story is told. Not to mention all those subtle little changes (be it in music or artstyle) depending on the scene as you look around and what it wants to convery is fascinating. Like the very beginning of the game, when you see the armor of our knight and once you click on it, you hear a rustle and that's how our knight 'wakes up', or when you interact with certain text phrases and how those change or 'leave' the screen manages to convey so much on its own. It's really incredibly engaging.
Overall, my love for this title has only grown. I loved every second of what I could experience already and I look forward to the full release, whenever it is ready to see the light of day!
It truly means so much to hear how deeply you explored the game -- how somebody noticed all the painstaking detail and wanted to see everything it had to offer! I'm really glad you enjoyed its different aspects and that every component played its part. It makes me feel that all the effort I put into reworking it was worth it, and I'm so happy you decided to play it. Thank you! <3
Despite me not recording the game, I still played through it and I cannot wait for the full release. This game is really well made for a visual novel game. I really like the story since it is full of mysteries and questions of who we are and why are we not liked and I won't go into spoilers even if it's a demo, love the art style and the music. I cannot wait!
Glad to hear you enjoyed it so far, thanks for playing!
In the beginning I was deeply attracted, candlelight, journey, I can not bear to fast-forward a second, very beautiful atmosphere, riddle-solving is not very difficult, so that we can be immersed in the story of which (esp for us cluelss newbie is very friendly), very pleasantly surprised demo there is music box, you can loop these beautiful music infinitely(and keep the lovely author here XDDDDD) The soloist, the duet, the shadowy melody, under the sun, under the darkness, under the moonlight, under the snowflakes, under the mist, under the iron, under the spirit... I'm really looking forward to what will happen in this world of poetry and snow, hope to see you guys all this winter!
Thank you very much for playing; I'm glad you enjoyed your time with the game and all the music! :)
OMG, the writing is so beautifully crafted—it reads like poetry! The interactive elements, like clicking on words, are incredibly creative and fun. The art and music are absolutely stunning, perfectly capturing the game's unique atmosphere. Most impressively, the way it gradually unveils our poor knight's past layer by layer is utterly fascinating. Just when I thought I had grasped the whole picture, that cliffhanger left me realizing I know nothing at all😭
This game is phenomenal, and I can't wait to see the complete version!
Thank you for the kind words, I'm so glad you enjoyed all the elements and the story so far!
Ohhh, wow. I was utterly absorbed in this game from start to finish. Every element is so polished but never so much over the others so as to make the experience feel anything but seamless. I love the story so far, I love the visuals, the sound- and our poor knight-spirit, searching for answers among what remains. I’ll light a candle for them while I wait for more 🕯
I am so happy to hear all the elements played together well for you! Thank you for giving this story (and the poor knight) your time, I truly appreciate it!
This was absolutely gorgeous. It's been a long time since I played the OG demo, so it's not like I'm comparing side-by-side, but I can just feel the strength of the direction the story has now. It's not just that what's here has so much more detail than before. I can also just see that you have done so much more writing of the full story that we haven't seen yet, the characters all feel so much more fleshed out and everything in the story is so grounded. This is really, really incredible work.
That's not to dismiss the original demo for a second, because it was already brilliant. The art, music, sound design, story, it was all phenomenal. You should always take pride in how that came out. But this is just so... refined in basically every aspect. I can FEEL that this story knows exactly where it is going. It's so exciting.
The music is gorgeous; I really loved the slightly more dissonant track that starts when you look into the mirror, and the soft choir layer that faded in during the chapel was gorgeous. The main theme really just makes you want to cry it's so beautiful.
I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY love the "frost around the screen disappears when you've clicked on everything" mechanic. That is a brilliant way to tell you when you've exhausted all the interactibles and it works great thematically. I remember a few times in the original demo feeling a little confused at some points and this version it felt very clearly communicated just about every step of the way. The tutorials at the start are just enough to tell you everything you need to know.
I love ghosts, and I love how you write ghosts, and I am so excited to play the full game when it's ready. For now though HUGE congratulations on this updated demo, this is outstanding work. And I laughed when mister main character was judging the hell out of the book on the floor in the first room.
