Vale's Echo is a 2D cozy horror adventure game blending dark comedy, psychological themes, and surreal art.
Vale died. Then the underworld called and said, โWelcome to your problems, part two.โ
She wakes up on a train to nowhere. No pulse. No past. No clue. Her only company? Echo - a floating skull full of secrets, charm, and just the right amount of mischief. But the underworld isnโt empty. The landlord is a leech. Literally. The hermit thinks youโd taste great with salt. And somewhere in the dark, every fear Vale ever buried is waiting to say hello.
Explore surreal encounters.
Bargain with leeches, chat with fish-human hybrids, and meet creatures who test your morals - and your sense of humor.
Crack unsettling puzzles.
Cook an unearthly dinner for a hungry hermit, unlock cursed luggage, and outwit the underworldโs strange logic.

They may have crooked teeth. They might bite. Try anyway.

I'm an idiot and can't currently find a way to review the game on Steam, but I just went through the playtest and I'm really looking forward for the full release. Please, I'm begging you to make more creatures that we can pet in the future. Rip Gill's children. 5 stars.

I played through the playtest of the game on my channel as part of my random horror series (it's timestamped) This game is cool and I don't think I encountered any bugs either. Game kinda reminds me of franbow a lil bit but still unique in its own way. Can't wait for the full game to come out

I really liked the gameโs proposal. The art style is very precise, and it reminded me a bit of the โSpirited Awayโ aesthetic, which brought back good childhood memories.
I found the plot engaging. At first I was concerned it would be another spoiled teenage protagonist, which is common nowadays, but it seems the intent is deeper than that, since the dialogues appear to have more layers. Overall, I would like to play the full game based on everything that was presented.
And Iโd say this game could deserve some art-direction or writing awards in the future if itโs completed and well polished. I also noticed some literary references in the writing, which made me appreciate the experience even more.

I cannot overstate how much I loved this, even though it is just a tiny part of what the full game will be. Whoever is behind the art for this game deserves a raise (or a pizza or something) because the art style is amazing. I mentioned Fran Bow as a comparison for the art but that one is colourful and whimsy (since it's through the eyes of a child) whereas here all of the colours, except for Echo, are muted since Vale clearly was battling depression. Maybe I'm reading into it too much but I can't avoid it when the art is that beautiful (would love to know what software you guys used for the art since I usually work on Procreate). The music and ambiance were also wonderful and I'm already super invested in the story, the writing is really nice and I love the sense of humour that occasionally pops up in the dialogue. Super well done, can't wait for the full release of this.

For being a demo/play test this was pretty awesome! Amazing artstyle graphics, sounds etc. The puzzles so far are pretty well made and the story so far is top notch. Cannot wait to see what the full game has in store! Made a video on it.

Good demo! I didn't quite get the innuendos behind puzzles and the characters that Vale encounters at the start of this bizarre adventure after her death, but the art and atmosphere are great!
