💦 FULL SET: Senseless realism - High Quality

A downloadable torture method

"Hey pal, you're about to take a long pier off a short walk."

Senseless Realism is a difficulty mod for Doom, based on the difficulty of the same name from Tax Evasion 3D and following the same philosophy. That philosophy is "how do I make a silly difficulty akin to vanilla's Nightmare?"

In short, your pickups are downgraded, and enemies are upgraded. Is that not enough? There's also a bonus "DEATH ENTHUSIAST" difficulty that turns the notch to 13 rather than 11.

Cool, thanks!

If you are looking for more ideas of Nightmare-replacing difficulty settings, you can always try my "Ultra-Nightmare/Maximum Nightmare" concept, which goes as follow:

Ultra-Nightmare:

- increases enemy health by 1.5x

Maximum Nightmare:

- increases enemy health by 1.5x
- increases aggressiveness to 1.0

The new difficulty does not feel quite as silly as Nightmare; vanilla Doom is for the most part already fairly easy and generous in supplies, so the difficulty increase still feels reasonable. Plus, phasing out the Zombieman makes sense, as it solves the inconsistency created by the removal of the Rifle weapon from the beta builds.

Unfortunately, the mod does not work properly with Doom.wad since Doom II monsters are not recognised by it.

The Doom 2-exclusivity was actually a disclaimer I forgot to add to the Itch post; due to the WAD structure, filtering by game wasn't supported in the original version. That said, there'll be an update soon that swaps to a .pk3 that supports filtering, so it'll be lots more compatible.
