PLAY OF WIRE is a short visual novel made in Light.vn for Spooktober VN Jam 2024.
Within the brain of “Funblood”, you are a “Funblood” who has become severed. So of course, you have to get up now!
Content Warnings: Flashing Lights, Eyestrain, Blood, Body Horror, Choking, Decapitation. Swear Words
DIRECTIONS:
Download Game. Unzip the Zipped File. Go in there. Run “LightApp.EXE”!
THE CONTROLS:
Left Click / Space - Proceed / Interact
Right Click - Cancel / Menu
Scroll Up - View Log
W - Move Forward
A - Turn Left
S - Move Back
D - Turn Right
H - Hide Textbox

REALLY COOL. loved the textures and off-kilter characters and dialogue. Really speaks to me as someone with DID as well, not sure if those vibes were intentional, really fascinating nonetheless!

i loved this a lot!! the art was amazing and the cut scene near the end was so cool!!! the stile reminds me a lot of stomach book :)

this was so good love the art love the aesthetics(made me feel like i was in a madoka magica fight scene) all the characters seemed super eccentric and interesting, really felt the emotion through the whole thing great job. :)

I adored this game so much, it has such a phenomenal style and the story was so compelling, I know I'll still be thinking about it for a while in the future! What a delightful silly and cruel horrible terrifying world you made, fuck yeah
Also I wanted to ask, I'm not really familiar with this engine you used but how hard was it to make the 3d environments here? How were they made? I'm curious about how these sorts of features were done in what seems to be primarily a visual novel engine. If there's any documentation you could provide for it that would be awesome!!

Light VN uses object files for its 3D mode so I just made the 3D models in Blender and exported it as an object. Blender is nice to make environments in, arranging shapes with textures on them is fun :3

this isreally fantastic! i did not expect it to be like this.. i really loved it it made my brain go brr.. the environments are so nice and i love the animated sprites... i'll think about this for such a long time

i played your game a few days ago and I'm still thinking about it. the short length didn't bother me much, as i found it to be very engaging and meaningful. i can tell you put a lot of effort into this project. the story had a strong emotional effect on me and felt relatable. it struck a lot of fear in me but i mean this in the best way possible.
you did great. especially considering the time restraints. I recommend people play this to the end as that's what truly shines here.
