If you're a fan of DMC, Bayonetta, Viewtiful Joe, Hack and Slash & Anime beat-em ups w/ slick combos then this is the one for you

Genokids caught my eye with it's trailer video's flashy combat and the art direction, but I was a little apprehensive at the idea of playing an 'Early Access' game. My only regret now is that I didn't find out about this game sooner! The combat is fluid, the design of the world is even better when you experience it in game, and the story doesn't waste any time kicking off.

The game plays like a tag fighter, where you have multiple characters, each with different move sets, and you have free control to switch between them. The game uses this to the best of it's advantage, with skilled players being able to do combos with multiple characters fluidly, and players who are struggling able to quickly swap to avoid being punished after failing to dodge or block. Genokids is one of those games where the skill floor is low enough to allow anyone to enjoy it, but has a high enough ceiling to make combat never feel boring or repetitive. Typically, with spectacle based games like this, you find the enemy-to-enemy combat to be tiring, but here, I got excited to get the chance to try moves and combos on even the smallest mobs. Rather than me waiting till the next boss, I found spectacle in almost every fight through my own usage of the games combat.

Early Access currently only has the first Act of the game, but in this act alone I've already got hooked into the story. Each character feels interesting and unique, both in design and personality. The colors are beautiful, and I find an amazing contrast between our protagonists and the antagonists. Dialogue is funny and the voice acting had me very engaged.

To anyone on the fence about trying Genokids, you will not regret the purchase! Please give it a chance to wow you.
