10,000 Eternity Eggs sold in a dozen days

today marks the milestone: 10,000 copies of eternity egg sold.

that's more than I expected to sell in the first 12 months of early access, sold in the first 12 days.

what does this mean? well, for one, I can continue to work on the game as planned without having to worry about getting another job for the time being.

it also means that despite many extant bugs, and the fact that the game is still very much a work-in-progress, people want to support development and perhaps (though I am hesitant to indulge such presumptions) even seem to be somewhat enjoying the game in its current state.

i'll probably be a bit quieter over the next couple of weeks for the holiday season but there is a lot to be done and I'm excited to keep working on the game, especially once the majority of bugs are smoothed out and I can return to working on new stuff, as well as refining/improving existing systems.

anyways happy holidays everyone and don't forget to leave a positive review if you want to place a brick in the foundation supporting continued work on eternity egg.

general discussion: what have you done in your run? what would you reccomend others try? what things are off limits for now?

personally i: >100% idiot's domain >did the bird quest >did the windmill gear quest >did the gnome acid quest (but am not able to figure out how to open the gate at the peak of the mountains there) >found a guy who wanted eyes from a frog, bones from a gnome, and two other things i forgot, not sure how i could get those things especially considering the zombie gnomes no longer spawn after i have cleared up the acid spills >similarly i witnessed a chaos ball (entropic molestor? idk the goombas of this game)...

added controller x/y sensitivity settings
added basic resolutions menu (just 16:9 for now)
fixed gamepad input on main menu (recent patch broke this somehow)
improved gamepad navigation on volume sliders
fixed tree core door spawn coordinates
fixed flautista infinite golden gnome key bug
fixed broken chest in orb hollow (probably)
possibly fixed time trial data not showing correctly

I just wanted to push this one live sooner rather than later so that people had access to sensitivity controls, as a lot of people have been asking for that.

Improvements to save/load data + many small fixes

this update took a bit longer than usual due to the time spent reworking save/load data to prevent issues in the future.

now there should be fewer issues with save corruption/random save files appearing in slot 3/other stuff like that.

I also fixed a bunch of bugs. some stuff that was previously unaccessible due to broken quest state checks, is now accessible.

there are a few expected oddities with this update, the main one being that you will spawn in Idiot's Domain as a safety measure (result of the save data migration). you will also lose some overworld checkpoints (they are all easy to get back to).

it's a trade-off for a more robust save system that will hopefully result in less corruption moving forward.

added a button to open the gate to exit ancient tree's inner hollow
fixed saving/loading mech position in overworld
fixed some colliders in RoGF
fixed birds respawning after you give them to bird aficionado
fixed collectable tracking in RoGF

Known issues / work in progress

there are still a few broken quests, which I will be fixing over the next few days alongside work on a simple non-invasive optional tutorial (just to make the basic controls more clear) and some kind of control input sensitivity mapping.

Early Access Review

If you're anything like me, You've seen the bad reviews for this game and are skeptical because, frankly, this game looks fantastic but.. bad reviews put a horrible taste in your mouth. Let me get straight to the point when I say that the reason there are bad reviews is that this game is NOT beginner friendly, I've spent maybe my first hour tinkering with controls and figuring out what I can do. Which personally I LOVED. I got to figure out techniques to platform, combat, get around, regen stamina. This game doesn't hold your hand which puts a lot of people off.
I'll agree the game is buggy but it's only an indie dev so I didn't expect perfection. If you're looking for a bizarre soulslike platformer experience I can't recommend this enough

Early Access Review

This game LOOKS absolutely fantastic. I heard about it a few weeks ago, and have been meaning to play it since then. As someone who's a fan of 90s tacky-looking games like Eastern Mind and LSD Dream Emulator, it rocks to see a game in this style. However, I can't recommend this in the state that it's in, and for the price that it costs.

First of all, the lack of real tutorial really put me off of this game immediately. Take this with a grain of salt since I'm not using a controller, but I really only realized I could do certain things after reading thru some of these reviews. I stopped playing after I couldn't figure out how to get back onto a platform I needed to get on to press a button, then again after I fell again, had to relaunch the save file again, then pressed it only for nothing to happen.

Secondly, the menu is quite confusing. I might just be nitpicking, but I would really appreciate a little bit of labeling instead of having to click through every button to see what does what.

I probably won't be refunding this game because it is something i'm definitely willing to play in the future once it's more polished, but I don't recommend anybody play this right now.

I have just defeated pot hydra in frogton. I am now lost as to where to go to progress. Any tips would help greatly.
