Hi, we have a new set of changes to address the feedback we've been seeing since the release day, mostly about the difficulty this time.

Changes

All traits with bonuses at 4/8 and 3/6/9 points now have their bonuses at 3/5/7 points.
Trait masteries were rebalanced to make them all more powerful overall, with their unique bonuses requiring less points to start being applied, so their power is also more frontloaded.
Traits from masteries are now Lucky, meaning that character rewards at bonfires now roll 2 times for each trait, taking any trait from a mastery first. This is also communicated in a tooltip in-game. The intention is to increase the chances of actually finding the mastery trait in a run if you have it equipped.
Using a Regret now highlights the trait that will be rerolled in a bright red color, both in the tooltip and the team traits.
Added missing translations to all languages.

Character Changes

The Brawler and Viking now deal +20% damage with their skill. The Viking now also has 100% Health Steal on Hit with his skill instead of just 60%.
The Hippie and Witch Doctor now apply +20% more Poison.
Muertocho now applies -30% less Soul Steal.
Cursantula, Snappet and Goorm now deal -15% damage with their skills.
Executaur, Pharapodos and Nekromantis now deal -20% damage with their skills.
Cleonix no longer targets the highest level enemies when using her Charm and Petrify skills.
Wendarko now has a limit of 2 uses for his skill in a given combat.
Omen (Phase 1) now deals -30% damage with her skills. Her bouncing projectile now targets 1 less enemy and requires 1 more second before firing.
Omen (Phase 2 / Meno) now deals -15% damage with her AoE skill.
Omen (Phase 3) now deals -15% damage with her orbiting fires skill.
Edict (Phase 2) now deals -25% damage with his "on attack" trigger skill. He now also heals -40% with his healing skill.
Edict (Phase 3) now requires +2 seconds before his slow moving projectiles trigger, and those now deals -15% damage too. His AoE skill now applies -25% Burn.
Remnant (Phase 1) now requires +1 attack for his Shock skill to trigger.
Remnant (Phase 3) now requires +2 seconds before his orbiting wings trigger.
Hunt (Phase 2) now requires +2 seconds before his Hidden skill triggers.
Beyond (Phase 2) now applies -30% Chill with his AoE skill.

Fixes

Fixed being able to equip the same mastery multiple times by dragging the equipped mastery.
Fixed the mastery slots of zone 4 not unlocking until you win the entire zone. You now correctly get 1 slot per map completed.
Fixed a bug where the demo challenges were being applied here in the base game if you had them enabled in the demo.

The update will delete your currently saved run if you open the game in the new version due to some of the changes made not working with previous save files anymore. You can safely finish any saved run in your current version and update afterwards.

We'll keep looking here on Steam and on our Discord for any feedback you share! We do want the game to be challenging, but that doesn't mean we can't improve the overall balance of the game, especially while you progress the zones.

We're still working on a few other features we want to add asap, like the 3 I mentioned in my post from yesterday, but there's also many more cool suggestions we've been hearing from your feedback.

1.0 Patch 1

Hi, it's been amazing seeing all the new players and their reactions to the new content! We've been looking at everyone's feedback since the release yesterday and wanted to announce some of the changes and fixes we've made.

Changes

Winning the tutorial now shows a message stating you can now play normal runs from the main menu, with a button to exit.
The abandon button in the pause menu now shows a tooltip on hover stating how saving a run works. There was already a save/load feature and we talk about it as part of the tutorial, so this is mostly about remembering and clarifying when you need it most.
The difficulty modifier for zone levels was reduced by 30%. This means that zones from the Radiant Sands onwards will receive a lesser difficulty increase compared to the Shadow Woods.
Reduced the damage done by Raminati's Holy Thunder skill by 30%.
Zone bosses now start with ~15% reduced Maximum Health in phase 1, ramping up to their previous amount by phase 3.

Fixes

Fixed a bug that was causing the game to freeze after crossing the portal towards map 4.
Fixed a bug related to the Charm debuff that was causing combats to last forever instead of ending when a team lost all their characters.
Fixed a bug where losing against the zone boss on the fourth zone was freezing the game instead of the usual run lost transition.

Please keep sharing your feedback with us! As we said in the release post, we want to keep updating the game for a long time, and big updates with a lot of new content and features will come for sure, but right now we want to solve any release issues first.

Some key pieces of feedback or sugestions we've heard from players are:

A way to flee from hard combats, even if it's at a cost.
A way to force one of your characters to target a specific enemy, especially for when the enemy positioning makes it impossible to make your characters focus on a specific enemy using positioning alone.
A way to speed up even more the combats that last for too long.

We've been discussing those and we think we have good ideas for implementing them, so you can expect more on that later.

Make the Game Harder-er (I am a masochist)

Because I am the best gamer, I have now beaten the game (including going hard mode on the bosses) I quite enjoyed this game a lot, as I also liked the demo a lot, and this improves a lot, including upping the difficulty and also having a lot more balance. That being said... I am a masochist, and need more. :)...

Having fun, but I must be missing something

I've spent many hours now experimenting with different teams, masteries, sets, etc. because I cannot beat the 1st Zone boss. I play a lot of these types of games and consider good at them, so either I'm just completely missing some key mechanic or this boss is just insane? My teams that got to him the first few times barely even scratched him so I ended up going full dps with the Ninja guys. 3 level 3 Ninjas with tons of crush, crit, attack speed, and 3-4 range with some tankier bodies in front. Literally...

Possible Copyright Infringement

While watching the trailer to the game I noticed two very distinct characters not associated with any 2 Left Thumbs games. These characters are Pump and Skid from Spooky Month, which are IP by Sr Pelo, and are not public domain property. I would like to know if the developers requested permission to use the likeness of this IP that they do not own....

This game was already peak in the demo stage, and now there's SO much more at launch. The devs have cooked up something really special here!

So I think the game is decent, but there are a few mechanics that are incredibly punishing. The final boss has specific skills that are enabled unless you have a specific tier of a specific trait active, which from my understanding seems to be the highest tier. This wouldn't be an issue, however the skills I am mentioning are pretty busted, like teleporting to your back line and having attacks that bounce between all your units and practically one shots anything without bonus hp/resistances. It adds a layer of RNG that is almost impossible to plan against, you basically have to know which trait to max out in order to deactivate said skills, which you don't know until the very moment you face the final boss. Makes zero sense. You can't plan against that, you just have to hope you're picking the right traits. I did manage to form a build that was close to beating the final boss without deactivating these traits, but it completely face rolled me every time. Even if we are given advance notice in which traits you need to max out to keep the boss from getting these abilities, it's just an incredibly stupid mechanic that restricts what we can actually do in the game. This is the bad RNG that does not belong in these games.
