After playing the demo and the full release for a bit, I've gotta say that sadly this is not my new roguelite/metroidvania.

When you start playing, at first it actually feels pretty good. Movement is fluid, combat is simple but punchy, and controls are responsive. The graphics are basic but readable, which helps during fights. I also like a few of the core ideas. The possession mechanic, where you leave your body as the witch's hat and take control of certain enemies, is pretty fun. The base building between runs also works well. You build structures, unlock upgrades, and slowly make future runs easier.

But by the second or third run, a big problem appears. The game claims procedural generation, but you start seeing the exact same rooms almost immediately. Same layouts, same enemy placement, same structure. After a few runs you can recognize rooms the second you enter them. The illusion of randomness falls apart fast. Strangely, the most interesting level in the whole game might be the tutorial, the one where you are basically supposed to die to the boss at the end. After that, runs start to feel repetitive very quickly.

Then there is multiplayer. The difficulty ramps up quickly, even on normal, and it feels like the game expects you to play co-op. Fine, except the only way to play with others is in password protected rooms. No matchmaking. No public lobbies. No queue with random players. So unless you already have friends who own the game and want to coordinate sessions, the system barely helps you. At the same time, the game is not really balanced for solo play either. That leaves you stuck in an awkward spot where the ideas are good, but the actual systems around them feel unfinished.

As a game it feels like an early access title or a proof of concept rather than a full release for ~20 euros. Can't really recommend.
