🔞 ADULT: App/ - Collection

The chase scenes make the game incredibly frustrating. There's no hotkey to heal. The stamina runs out too fast and the monsters being faster than you makes it so repetitive. There is no hiding places like lockers so you have to start from the beginning every time to progress. Hiding behind shelves is pointless because they see right through. There are no clear instructions on what to do in each segment making you run around like a headless chicken until you figure it out. Lots of AI use making it feel rushed and cheap. Sound effects are generic and not unique whatsoever also making it feel cheap. Dialogue is hilarious though 10/10 on that. I wish I had liked it because the demo had a lot of potential. Game also was dragging, you cannot complete it in one sitting, unless you are gaming for 6+ hours.

I wanted to like this game so bad but I can't get around the AI slop. I've been thinking and giving it second thoughts due it being a small indie developer team. But using AI art/voice and video is a cheap way to show their "work". The game is just ugly, no charm no original/outstanding characters. It's just bland. I'm a HUGE horror fan and I find comfort in interesting and original horror games but nothing besides the very first chase puzzle kept me interested. 14 bucks is crazy for a game you could probably play for free on Roblox that's similar.

As a game developer myself (or an aspiring one, really) I cannot support the usage of AI in games. Originally , I purchased the game because I had seen it online, and the AI disclaimer said that minimal AI was used, only to speed up texturing for the game's creators. Upon actually playing "Rainbow Gate", every single asset appears to have been made without human interference. Every wall, box, or poster art is made with AI. It is blatantly obvious. Every piece of audio used, hodge-podged by a computer. And all of the game's core systems are either built into Unreal Engine, or easily purchasable on the store, and are identical enough to other titles that use the purchased gameplay packages that I can say without much doubt that they are purchased and non-original assets. So, if a title is made by a combination of purchased assets off of a marketplace, and made in conjunction with an AI creating all the cosmetics of the experience, where was the original developer even involved? Stitching everything together neatly, sure, but that is so small and pales in comparison to all the work done by other sources that I just don't even want to play the game anymore. Now, I want to say that this game isn't all bad. The animations are clean (from what i've seen so far) and I don't know of an AI that can make those. The animators did phenomenal. Along-side it, the game's 3-D models seem very good as well, they don't explode my computer, and despite how the textures are (by their own admission) AI, they do feel very well made. I wish that this title actually hired a 3D designer to work on the project, instead of an LLM subscription. If the main visuals of the game were all original, this would be STUNNING, and a real threat to some of the mascot horror games out there. Such a shame.
