The guy in the back room of the workplace says something about finding a secret code to get special costumes, does anyone know what they're talking about?

I heard that it makes the xp drops and loot better, so I started playing on "very hard", but it's not really very hard. Should I crank it up a notch to get even better drops? (the naming of the difficulty levels is hilarious, since the second of five is already "hard")...
