Today, we are starting a new series that shines a light on the characters in the world of Novo. Starting with our beloved titular character, Lana

Lana hails from the small fishing village of Tailo, where she lives with her sister Elo, her niece Anua, and, of course, her trusted companion Mui.

At just 12 years old, Lana has lived a more eventful life than most adults and, as a result, is now more agile and technically capable. But after saving her planet from the robot invaders (events in Planet of Lana), she struggles to settle back into everyday life. Now, she spends most of her time scouring the dark corners of Novo for clues about her people’s — and the robot invaders’ — mysterious history. A pastime that often puts both her and the people she cares about in danger.

In the real world, Lana’s journey began in 2017 when our co-founder and creative director, Adam Stjärnljus, drew a picture of a young girl and her cute creature companion, standing in a lush Ghibli-inspired environment, looking up at a strange robot. That picture was the seed that started it all; it’s what inspired so many passionate people to join the team and eventually create Planet of Lana. The picture Adam drew is still the main key art that we use for Planet of Lana to this day.
