Dog Walking Adventures Post Release Update

Hello Dog Walkers!

It has been great seeing all of you who have purchased and given Dog Walkers Adventures a go since its full release a couple of weeks ago! I'm back with another update which addresses some much needed changes and bug fixes. This is sort of like a part 1 to a part 2, so there will be another update coming soon!

General Changes:

Removed the Phone.
Updated the visuals of Pause Menu and to display more information.
HUD now has added information including Quests, Location Discovery, and Journal Collection progress.
When carrying your dog, you now have to hold down the interact button to drop rather than pressing it.
Emoting now only lasts 5 seconds instead of 15.
Removed the player button from game set up menu (for now).

Bug Fixes

Camera no longer clips through walls.
The carry toggle bug is now fixed due to the above change.

Developer Notes: I could never quite get the phone to be in a place where it could actually be useful so In this update I have decided to remove it and move the information it was carrying to the HUD/ pause menu.

Feedback on demo

I've just played the demo for about five minutes, and I wasn't sure where to leave feedback, so I guess I'll leave it here? While it's a cute premise, and seems like it would be a relaxing game for dog lovers like me who don't mind low poly games, I already have a couple of complaints about gameplay. 1) I can't move the camera around. Even the player character - Polaris - only faces one direction while walking, so when doing the first quest (reuniting a dog with its owner) they are walking backwards for...

Dog Walking Adventures Full Release Now Available on Steam!

Hello Dog Walkers! First off, I know it is a bit strange that Dog Walking Adventures has jumped from version 0.2.0 to 1.0.0 (full release). The truth is is that I had many more updates planned including new dogs, maps, features, etc. But because I am now involved in other projects, and Dog Walking Adventures can no longer be my first priority, I have decided to push this update out and fully release Dog Walking Adventures. The one thing I did not want for Dog Walking Adventures was for it to be stuck in Early Access limbo for eternity as I feel this is a bad practice for all game developers using the early access feature.

I will note that even though the game is now fully released, I will keep an eye on the store page and community page for any reported bugs/ issues as I will continue to patch the game when needed.

Although I was unable to implement all the updates and new features I had planned, I am very proud and have thoroughly enjoyed developing Dog Walking Adventures over the past year. Thank you to all who have walked their dogs!

UPDATE 0.2 - STARGAZERS TRAIL

Hello dog walkers! It's been a while but that's only because I've been hard at work on the new map, new dogs, and of course, features and changes that you have highly requested! I hope you enjoy update 0.2 and the new map. I'm already hard at work on some smaller updates that are coming soon and of course the next big update that will come with even more new dogs and a new map!

UPDATE 0.2.0

NEW Map: Stargazers Trail

Journey the Stargazers Trail in Dog Walking Adventures first map set at night! There are many new locations to discover, dog quests to complete and mysteries to unveil in Stargazers Trail!

NEW & Updated Dogs

Arthur runs onto the scene as Dog Walking Adventures first Black Labrador!
Ellie the Cockapoo makes a reappearance as you can now unlock and walk her after completing her quest!

Developer Notes: There is one more mystery dog that needs to be added to Stargazers Trail. Maggie's new models and animations are also almost finished. These dogs will release soon in a separate smaller update!

NEW Puzzle Machines

Added puzzle machines to all maps. Puzzle machines are small puzzle challenges for the player to complete and solve.
Completed puzzle machines will provide rewards such as new journal entries or new dog toys!

Puzzle Changes

Removed the RC Car from Woodland Walk, Alpine Wander and Snowy Tops.
The RC Car puzzles can now be solved by playing as your dog!
Redesigned the manor maze puzzle in Snowy Tops.

Developer Notes: Some players were experiencing issues, or not quite enjoying, the RC car puzzles. But instead of removing it completely, I have reprogrammed them to work with your dog.

NEW & Updated Dog Toys

Added a new Shoe dog toy! Ready to be thrown once the appropriate quest has been completed.
Changed the look of the Polaris Plushie dog toy.

NEW Control Dog

When you whistle your dog over and interact with them, a new fourth option appears, allowing you to play as your dog!

NEW Tutorial & Updated Woodland Walk

Woodland Walk has been changed to act more as a tutorial level for new players.
Added tutorial prompts to Woodland Walk.

Phone Changes

Removed the 'Journals' App from the phone.
Added a new 'Find My Dog' App to the phone.

Developer Notes: Sometimes the dogs will get stuck on terrain, and while I am gradually fixing this issue, the new find my dog app will help get your dog back to you if it goes missing.

Main Menu Changes

Added a new 'Collections' page on the main menu which replaces the Dogs page.
The new Collections page allows the player to see all the dogs that are available in the game, as well as all the journals they have collected.
All journals are displayed in timeline order by the dates they are written.

Journals

Re-written all journals to add an underlying main story.
Made the dates of the journals easier to read.

Developer Notes: I wanted to add a larger story that's happening around the player and their dog, to give a bigger sense of adventure, exploration and mystery to the game.

Game Setup Menu

Changed the look of the dog select menu.
Changed the look of the dog toy select menu.

Changed all UI button hovered and pressed sounds.
Some UI buttons now have animations.
Rewards are easier to see in quest complete panel that shows after players has completed a quest.
