A very long, yet fun and engaging survival crafting experience that has so much exploration and content STILL being added as I write this review. I cant recommend this game enough. Whether you're playing alone or with friends, just buy it, give it a chance and be patient with it. Its truly worth it.

I want to leave a positive review -- there's a lot to enjoy; but, I want to focus on an issue that prevents logging into single-player when their servers have issues. It's as simple as that: sometimes you try to open the game and there's an impassable screen that says the server is down but single-player is available.

Thanks to the comments below with suggestions and some other work-around I found, I wanted to edit my review but leave it up as I'm sure some people would still like to know what the hell's going on.

This is absolutely a must play with friends, at first I was skeptical about the game but tbh its one of the best survival games ive played in a while. Also, the lore goes crazy from what ive heard/read from the ingame journals.

If you ever wondered what happened to the regular scientists while Gordon Freeman was running around saving the world, Abiotic Factor is the answer. It is a brilliant genre-mashup that feels like a lost 90s classic remastered for the modern era.

You are trapped in a massive underground facility (GATE) overrun by interdimensional anomalies. Unlike other survival games where you start punching trees, here you are smashing computers for scraps, dismantling office chairs, and turning a breakroom into a fortified bunker.

The loop is addictive: Explore the facility, unlock new sectors, gather resources, and craft whacky science-gadgets to survive the night. The progression is linear enough to give you purpose (like a Metroidvania) but open enough to let you mess around.

While playable solo, this game shines in Co-op (up to 6 players).
The Job System is fantastic. Picking a class isn't just a stat boost; it changes your role. You need a cook to handle the complex hunger mechanics, a medic to patch up radiation burns, and a defense specialist to hold the line. It forces genuine teamwork rather than just parallel play.

The low-poly aesthetic is a deliberate and perfect stylistic choice. It captures the eerie, oppressive, yet strangely humorous vibe of the original Half-Life or SCP Foundation stories. The environmental storytelling is top-tier—every desk, email, and bloodstain tells a story.

It’s an indie gem, but it has rough edges:

• Inventory Tetris: You will spend a lot of time organizing chests. The crafting recipes get complex, and you'll often need the Wiki to remember where to find specific loot.
  
• Backtracking: The facility is huge. Without unlocking shortcuts, running back and forth can get tiring.
  
• Visual Quirks: Your first-person view (arms/sleeves) doesn't always match your equipped armor, which is a small immersion breaker.

Abiotic Factor is one of the most refreshing survival games in years. It ditches the "empty open world" trope for a dense, handcrafted facility full of secrets. Whether you want to roleplay a terrified scientist or a Rambo with a soldering iron, this game delivers.

Highly recommended for any fan of immersive sims or survival games.

Have you ever wanted to play a first person shooter, survival, story-based game all while throwing nets are alien rats because they keep appearing out of the corner and scaring the ♥♥♥♥ out of your large intestine? Well, LOOK. NO. FURTHER. My friend, this game is what happens when peak and friendship have a child together. One moment, you're creating soup in the homeliness of your kitchen, and then the next moment you're, fighting an alien that controls lightning. Quick! Grab your strength-based weapon and BULLDOZE that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to kingdom come and steal his brain! What? You don't like eatin alien brain for more experience gain??? THAT'S FINE! You can also go through portals like its 2012 and finally see places you've never seen before... and then run in fear. Nothing is your friend in these portal worlds! Explore through the 13 different portals and gather resources and learn about the SCP, I mean, ISOs in the world complete with LORE! Seriously though, this game is a treasure trove of content and it is so beautifully made it brings a tear to my eye.

This is a great SINGLE PLAYER game! well balanced and im having a blast! Its been some time since I sinked so many hour in a game and I have an extensive collection. Worth every penny
