The 77th ODST Bat. Special Missions Unit, commonly referred to as 77th SMU is an elite special operations force of the United Nations Space Command, under operational control of the Naval Special Warfare Command and often works with the Office of Naval Intelligence. The unit is tasked with specialized missions primarily involving counter-terrorism, hostage rescue, direct action, and special reconnaissance, often against high-value targets. The 77th is the UNSC’s primary Tier 1 Special Missions Unit tasked with performing the most complex, classified, and dangerous missions directed by NAVSPECWAR and ONI outside of the Spartan program.
