Poem of the butterflies

La gente de este mundo es como las tres mariposas
The people of this world are like the three butterflies

enfrente de la llama de una vela:
in front of a candle’s flame.

la primera se acercó y dijo —Sé sobre el amor,
The first one went closer and said:I know about love.

la segunda apenas tocó la llama con las alas y dijo
The second one touched the flame lightly with his wings and said:

—Sé como puede arder la llama del amor.
I know how love’s fire can burn.

La tercera se arrojó al centro de la llama
The third one threw himself into the heart

y se consumió:
of the flame and was consumed.

solo ella sabe lo que es el amor verdadero.
He alone knows what true love is.
