Justice, that is what the we once stood for. For the first two centuries of our existence we, the Praetorians, became the judge, jury and the executioner for those that upset our people. Valantly, we removed the cruel, the weak, and the chaotic kings with our relentless passion for justice while we supported the just, strong, and valorous kings. By protecting these monarchs and thereby extending their great reign we , humans, grew in strength. By keeping the disorders of the bloodstones and the intrigues of the Gods in line we , humans , grew in wisdom. We, the Praetorians, helped bring Ascalon a much needed source of stability until after the defeat of Vatlaaw Doomtooth at the hands of the noble Prince Rurik.

Then our "reign" was finally considered to have ended, when the Charr destroyed our home, Ascalon, by unleashing the Searing. After our loss, our once honorable order began to deteriorate into the meddling force of ruthless mercenaries, that remained scattered in Divinity's Reach for 250 years, for which it has become infamous. Until recently, when Praefectus "Yeti" Cassius helped reform our order into a guild and bring it back from its infamy. Today we, the Praetorians, are a guild that uses our natural gift of vengeance to fend off our old opponents, the Charr. Even though we have lost our original purpose, we have found a new purpose in defending the last Human city, Divinity's Reach. We will remember our fall in Ascalon, but the loyalty of our Praetorians will not allow a second failure.
